Really the beginning of the “Cold War” depends on who you ask, some say it was as soon as Germany surrendered, in 1945, some say it began in 1947 because of the Soviets creating their own nukes that year, and some say it began in 1949 because of the Berlin Airlift. It starting in 1949 in this scenario is pretty implausible, because the Berlin Airlift would’ve probably happened earlier.

Why would Franco join the Axis in this timeline, assuming the Spanish Civil War happened? In my opinion, the eastern borders of Poland would be the same in this alternate WW2 because that means the USSR gets Kaliningrad, a warm water port.

I agree with you on Poland, but Franco didn’t join the allies, if you look closely you’ll notice that it wasn’t all in one day, instead Portugal joined the allies and there was also probably a democratic uprising too, which is why the government was established so quickly

Critisicims I have with this video 1) If soviets won the winter war, germans would take lithuania because that was the plan when molotov ribbentrop pact was signed. 2) After germany gave all of transylvania to hungary instead of just northern translyvania, i doubt romanians would join axis. They had good relations with both sides. 3) I dont think franco would join the war that early, they were buisy rebuilding their country. Maybe they could join while Germany was kicking ass in the soviet union. 4) How did they kick the allies out of sicily that easily? 5) How did the Soviets push Germans out of crimea that easily? And how did they push into northern Norway? 6) How did Portugal join the allies? Werent they also fascist? 7) Why do the allies stop at the spanish border? Wouldnt they push a bit more? i'm just here to awnser point 6. Portugal was in control of the "estado novo" regime. while authoritarian and (somewhat?) nationalist, it wasn't full-blown fascist. they could be pushed into the war due to UK, their old ally, pressuring Portugal to join the allies. the only reason Portugal stayed neutral during WW2 was that UK never really called them into the war. that and both portugal and spain agreed to stay neutral, by spain trying to delay as much as they can their full-blown entry to the axis. Portugal stayed neutral because going into the allies would probably make spain go to the axis. and going into the axis would make Portugal unable to access their colonies against UK's massive fleet.

@@sakuyn if thew soviets lost Moscow they would've lost Leningrad and Stalingrad as Moscow was critical to the logistical efforts of the soviets as well as housed a large portion of the population of Russia (about 5% of the soviets pop if I remember correctly). Keep in mind that the Soviets were already in peace talks with Germany before the battle of Kursk, as the soviet high command thought that they'd lost the war. If Moscow was taken they would most certainly surrender.
