I really like Rey and Isaac pushing back against Annabelles agenda. For them this random person is coming from somewhere and tries to rally stuff up in a "calm" city and trying to incite a literal war based on her viewpoint. This will independent on what the Camarilla might have in store certainly affect the entire city and endanger all of them pretty much "just for the sake of it". Especially since they (as yet confirmed) have much less of a vested interesst in the anarchs continuing their rule than the LA crew had (ex Camarilla, undisputed Baron of the Valley, Jaspers Labyrinth). Annabelles entry in the ecosystem isnt really that much different to what Vannevar did and i really hope they keep on pushing this angle of not falling into line to her selfrightousness and questioning the moral highground that Annabelle views herself upon. Not yet getting warm to Fuego and Serif but we are afterall just in the third episode of a first season, so they will certainly be developing as characters by a lot. (just to make it clear so nobody confuses this, nothing of this is directed against the wonderfull actors we got this season again, but only against the fictional characters they portray) very intrigued to see how this is gonna develop

I'm starting to quite like this crew already. The way all the characters of the coterie behave? I've seen people just like them quite a few times, so this whole setup to me is just as familiar as a bottle and a glass. I can tell you that this story is going to end in a lot of unhappy compromise between unhealthy backstabbing. Serif and Fuego will actually butt heads sooner or later whem her destructive side meets Fuego's prptective side. You can already see Isaac and Fuego hitting it off poorly Rey while absolutely making the party dislike him at first will actually be the one everyone can rely on. He's a prick, but he's a straight shooter. Either Fuego is gonna use Rey as a pawn or Rey is going to snap on her for manipulating him, and Rey is actually the most human out of the coterie, which is funny since he also was the first to drain a vessel. I'll be watching the coterie's relationship with bated breath. Watch for signs of betrayal early.

Annabelle's self righteousness always rubbed me the wrong way, and I never found her all that persuasive. Would love to see an elder come in and put her in her place a little between power and knowledge bombing of the bigger picture. I do kind of like how she has basically become Carver though. Also, "And you think all of things you know as a human..." That made me laugh, considering that's basically Annabelle's entire schtick
@Peecamarke2 жыл бұрын
@@jamesd5842 Annabelle’s self-righteousness didn’t rub me any worse than the SI’s religious zealots, Camirilla Prince’s birth right belief, or the Sabbat’s might makes right belief. They’re all flawed but dynamic perspectives that can look good or bad depending on the context/environment they’re in. I appreciate her role in the Anarchs home turf like LA vs Camirilla turf like NY, she does a good job of highlighting how/where the idealistic, existential vamps fit within the diff spaces of the various powers and the actress does a good job at portraying an idealistic activist whose turned into a vamp and how they rationalize and adapt their world view to it. It’s also refreshing see someone portray the charismatic Brujah leader type with good intentions as oppose to the temperamental muscle head you often see with Brujah portrayals

@@grimjudgment6527 I appreciate Rey for his loud, straight-to-the-point demeanor it adds a nice flavor to the group but you could argue Fuego and Isaac are just as “human” depends on your perspective but I fear he’s going to learn kindred use subterfuge and social gymnastics a lot for a reason in VTM (or else might as well be Wws lol ) and also ST’s tend to punish players for killing and attacking right away instead being more tactical. FYI, I would temper my expectations for character dynamics, a lot of viewers get upset when the characters don’t do what they expect due to it being more improvised than a plot driven script with tropes and etc
@leonatos40k2 жыл бұрын
@@Peecamarke The real issue with Annabelle is that she is not an idealist, like the Brujah of Carthage were, or the Prometheans or even those following the philosophy of entelechy, she is an iconoclast only seeking to destroy the people or institutions in power simply because they are in power. She had the ability to evolve as a character and stay in LA to make sure the free states don't deteriorate like they did under McNeil. Her self righteousness rubs people simply because she is a fledgling who spat college campus rethorics against beings decades or centuries her elder and everyone treated her like she is this saviour figure that the movement has been waiting for, when in fact brujah like her are what 90% of the clans modern embraces look like.

Theo Bell Hesha Ruhadze Anatole Shejana Mercurio (from VTMB, he says "Big Apple? I can't go back there", but maybe after the destruction of his domitor LaCroix things changed) All the main characters from L.A by Night

Kind of. But she also did just convince a goon to do her dirty work for her. That’s Ventrue as hell. And I kind of doubt that there’s not something about the un-gentrified Bronx that is very lucrative for her personally. She’s just a different kind of Ventrue. Give her a couple decades and she’ll be just like the rest.

With how we've seen Fuego's Beast act (nudging her towards power more than blood) and how she's constantly been acting as a temptress, I wouldn't be surprised to see her revealed as Setite (pardon, Ministry), Baali or other such lineage. Or at the very least there's something unusual about her supernatural situation.
@Alphademongel2 жыл бұрын
My guess is she's a high-functioning Sabbat. Richter's malkavian mentioned to Isaac "You aren't one of [the Sabbat], but they might be one of you." hinting to me that one of the coterie is Sabbat. Her conversations with her Beast aren't really argumentative and she hasn't disagreed or tried to reason away what her Beast is telling her to do, instead usually agreeing with it to some degree and even taking pride in what it tells her. She heavily considered killing that man in Richter's night club, and only decided not to because she "needed him", and here we see her pushing Rey to murder as well. We also know that until recently, New York was Sabbat territory and they were pushed out by the Camarilla...a strangely similar situation to mortal gentrifiers which she's shown to despise. I'm probably grasping at straws, but if I'm right she's playing it REALLY well.

@@Alphademongel What do we know about Fuego? 1. She lied about not knowing her sire or clan (she mentions in an earlier episode she didn't know what clan she was, and IIRC strongly implies she was Embraced and left to figure things out for herself. While in this episode she states she's Venture, mentions that she knows her sire (can't recall if she named them) but that they don't talk) 2. She's always making a show of her power, constantly forcing her will on others. Whether that by be use of Dominate, or by making suggestions to others (e.g. asking Rey to "kill him for me") 3. The only disciplines we've seen her use are Dominate and Presence, both of which are very common, but only found together as Ventrue disciplines. However... 4. Both Dominate and Presence can be acquired with a character's Predator Types, and the way Fuego hunts suggests she's a Siren which would give her access to Presence I'm undecided as to whether she's Camarilla/Anarch/Sabbat just yet, however (ATM) I _strongly_ suspect she's not actually a Ventrue but a Lasombra.
