oh my god my father and I used to take turns on stages with this game. this was literally the best game I ever got on the SNES. damn, childhood was awesome~
@Leomerya122 жыл бұрын
I did this with my father as well, when I was 5 or 6. Neither one of us could get past the Cave Level. Once I became an adult and played the game again (around 15 years ago) I finally got to see the end of the game.

Rarely is a game as worthy of the Top Gun soundtrack as this.

I can almost guarantee that the camera movement at 0:40 was added there mainly to demonstrate the Mode 7 effects of the SNES. It was pretty common to show off that effect in the earlier SNES games.

I could never beat this freakin' game! The music and sound fx are so burned into my brain that whenever crazy life stuff starts going down I hear the music to the player, target, and fighter/weapon selection screens.

Outside of the usual mainstream games on snes this was the most memorable game for me and it’s nice to see how many others enjoyed it as well. The memory of fighting the submarine and having it launching out of the water was forever burned into my memory.
@shils898 жыл бұрын
I've never played this kind of games cause i was 6 or 7 y.o and it was way too dificult for me but my brother did. I remember loong evenings staring at the tv while he was playing with it. On the other hand, I remember every single song in this game. Music is soo powerful to memories!!

I remember playing this on SNES before ever touching the arcade original. When I finally did I couldn't help but find it lacking... no F200? Madness. Love the style. Love the early-90s Capcom soundfont. And no matter that it's a bit easy or that I clearly have rose colored glasses... still one of my all time favorite side scrolling shmups.

I'm haunted by a lot of video game songs from the 80's and early 90's. They've influenced me as a musician so much that I wonder how many people I owe royalties to.

@ValisHD Almost all Capcom games sounded like that on the SNES, and arcades (CPS1 and CPS2). That's part of why they're so cool.

12:36 I'm kinda curious as to how that submarine is being rotated as it jumps out the water, if it's using column scrolling on one of the backgrounds via Mode 2 or something else.

I can't say for sure, but I feel like "Seavet" is a misromanization of "Sievert". (A unit primarily used for measuring radiation dosage - certainly thematic for a nuclear sub)

Mega Crush costs $5K. You get $20K for destroying the trucks. That's still profit, but using just the Vulcan cannon is worth the extra $5k.

*skipping to random parts of the video* Yep, convoy farming. I like to play as Shin and stick with the Crusader all the way up to the cave level, then you don't need to do so much of that. Technically the cave boss can be beaten with any plane, but it takes a ridiculous amount of precision.

The Amiga had a customed designed, sample based four channel stereo soundchip calles 'Paula' if i remember rightly. The snes sounded a lot better than the megadrive, but for me not quite as good as the miggy.(The music's good but don't like the sfx much in this game) But as i said, the prices of Snes games were obscene. Yeah Ocean did a lot of uncaring rush jobs on the Amiga back in the day....
