my small travel setup was a panasonic gx7 which triggered a metz flash with its built in popup flash. No additional triggers / wires needed, no additional worries if the triggers are charged. Flash settings can be changed right in camera. All you need is a camera and flash that support wireless TTL. Drawbacks are more battery use on main camera, charge times of popup flash, and you need line of sight to the main flash.

Thanks Markus, I think the earlier Godox XT-1 trigger still has a role here, it's a bit fiddly to use, but robust and small while giving you full remote control, groups etc.

I've been using those cheap Neewer type PT04 remotes for years. Cheap and virtually disposable. I always carry a couple of spares transmitter and receiver and a cord just in case. If you open up the transmitter and replace the teeny soldered antennae with a one foot length of thin wire dangling out of a hole drilled in the case you can increase the range out to 100 yards.

Great overview. I still have my Yongnuo RF-603II, great for a single full manual light and weighs nothing. I never understood why it's not just a single pin, given that there's no TTL or other control. Godox has their also-small R2 single pin. Still tiny, with no TTL but it'll control 5 groups of Godox lights. But for the ultimate in small camera triggers Markus, if I had your cash I'd be using the Prophoto Connect with one of their wallet-draining lights and call it done.

Yeah, I am still fiddling with the FlashQ. They should update in the way the mic companies do. Transmitter and receiver come in a small charging case, once you open the case, both devices turn on and connect automatically. So its not rocket science :) LightPix Labs do a proper update please!

Flash cords are very no-nonsense and simple; but sometimes they're not as long as you think they are or want them to be. You can also trip over them. Got some radio triggers like those Neewer ones, and they are very handy (transmitter needs a rather weird non-standard battery though).

I love mounting a speedlight on a monopole and use a coord to my Fujifilm X100 which has leaf shutter. Makes a 1/2000 @ F2.0 overpowering the sun without highspeed sync. Also works with the internal flash as a master which triggers the speedlight. No latency. And an off camera flash. I call it medium format look, flashing wide open with low depth of field look.

try the raven TLC trigger. Its not tiny but has touch and works with godox and profoto at the same time for example, can also remap timings and can be sound activated, movement activated. I don't have it yet, its a bit expensive to ship to Europe, plus taxes, etc... wish godox made one thats smaller but still adjusts the power.

The built in receiver on the AD200 works just fine with the XT16 transmitter, that's how I use it. No need to plug in the XTR16 receiver. I expect you could use it on the AD100 the same way.

I have the XT-16 setup, but I find the receiver to be fiddly and it gets easily bumped. I think I might pick up a wired solution as it should work flawlessly; also, you can easily set up other slave flashes with it wirelessly on stands.

I believe that the next generation short-distance communication technology "SparkLink" will soon be used in photography. SparkLink has lower power consumption than Bluetooth, longer transmission distance than WIFI, and lower latency. Theoretically, the flash trigger can be made smaller, and the flash can be controlled from 600 meters away

I love the lightpix cubes with their flash. I use for my street style event photography on my Ricoh griii AND canon 6d. Mostly I got this system for compact but I love how unobtrusive it is and people prefer the small flash over a giant one. Problem is I had to order from Hong Kong as this isn’t available where I live. Godox please make something this small and simple. I shoot bands too in this way (street style) and everyone’s happy. I’ve had no issues except pairing. I haven’t had your experience really. They mostly work well and easily. I did order a replacement because my original cube is 5 years old and did hiccup once on a paid shoot. I turned it off and on and I was back in business. One thing: mine have a power switch on the opposite side of the two buttons… I dunno what you have 😛

in fact, you dont really need the receiver(the little USB thing) while using the XT16 with AD200, AD100 or any other flash/strobes with Godox's built-in 2.4 GHz module.The 'X' of XT16 stands for the Godox 2.4 GHz 'X system' - to tell it apart from an earlier version of the trigger named FT16 which works under 433MHz, the receiver was originally designed for transporting the remote signal to the old bigger strobes. The AD200 keep the usb port for compatibility, and the AD1000 just sacrifice it for the minimum size. There should be a mapping table in the manual to tell you how to change the combination of the four little switch to corresponds to the different channels, and the little wheel is used for Control all the Group.

I did a little flash to the side as a wedding photographer like you just showed. I did it with my Olympus OMD E-M5 and I used the little flash the E-M5 comes with to trigger the flash I had in my hand and it works in TTL. Also I put a flash bender on my flash. Did not use this technique for to long only one wedding I remember. I just did not like that I could not zoom when I wanted. Its fine I guess if your a prime shooter. I'm more of a bounce and zoom photographer.

Great videos Markus ! Thank you ! Dumb question, maybe I missed something: Is there not a flash trigger which works "natively" with the Godox AD100 and AD200 flashes? i.e. no separate receiver needed to attach to the flash...
@MarkusPix
@MarkusPix 4 ай бұрын
Yes you can use any Godox flash trigger. The fancy ones have high speed sync, the simple older ones do not. This video is about tiny flash triggers though and how you can still use a cord if you want. I give people alternatives for each situation. For example, wireless flashes often dont work if the flash is within 2 ft of the camera

Can you plug the Godox XT-16 Transmitter via USB on the AD100 Pro!?!?!?!?! I just ordered it today and realized I don't see it in your video and it looks like a USB-C port instead. Is there a way to use a PC sync cable on the XT-16 if I'm unable to?

seeing this video makes me wish that godox has like a scaled down trigger that only has 1-2 groups to control with less functionality than the x2t or x1t but still has the versatility to change the settings on the trigger instead of the flash itself (may not be as useful for handheld off-camera flash setups though)

Just wondering, is the USB-C port on the AD100 only for charging, or can it be used for triggers with remote power control, like the one AD200 USB port?
@mmknipser
@mmknipser Жыл бұрын
none oft them! The USB-C-port on AD100 is only for firmware updating, not for charging. Fot charging, you have to use the charger that is included. And there is no receiver to plug in to USB-C, so, no, the port is not usable for triggering. USB-Mini port on AD200 ist for firmware updating, USB-A-port only for triggering. None of them ist for powering or charging the device.

If I don't use the Godox/flashpoint, I revert to my PocketWizards that I have had since dinosaurs roamed the earth. Some of these options are cheap plastic, but they work unless they get crushed in a soft bag. I carry a couple as back up and carry a wire. I too acquire too many things. For the dangle, wrap them in rubber bands but don't do it until the shoot or TSA takes you to a special room for your IED
@mmknipser

Godox should make a small trigger because everything's built in the flashes. So why using a third party system? I love to use the Westcott/Jinbei/Rollei triggers and receivers on my trusted Lumedyne heads. With built in batterys and 3.5 mm plug, so no need for cables. And then, SMDV triggers (Flash Wave) are fine and small, too.

X1T is little bigger than XT16. But it dont need the receiver work with multiple Dodox flash. And you can change setting all your flashs on 1 device. Photographers love Godox flash because X1T X2T are too convenience. They change all to Godox flash because they are good, cheap price, work well and trigger is too convenience You must try X1T Markus.

I have an idea, why not use TT350 as a flash trigger? It is small enough and can be used for TLL. Especially after removing the head, the volume can be reduced by 1/2. In theory, it does not affect the remaining functions. I have never seen it before. Someone has transformed it like this
@MarkusPix
@MarkusPix Жыл бұрын
Other than the fast that the TT350 is considerably bigger than any of these triggers, it still wouldn't work for most of my stuff where flashes are often hidden behind trees and bushes especially in bright sunlight that's brighter than the TT350

HSS destroys flash heads; to shoot wide open in full daylight you use ND filters, while to freeze motion you use powerful strobes with low t1 duration. HSS surely is the simpler solution, but will kill your kit 5 times faster. I never use it, too, even if all my strobes have it, I honestly wouldn't know how to turn it on even if I'd want to.
