Highly disagree. I'd give it an 8, maybe a 9. In all I just feel like it improved on Dirge in practically every way; from the production, to the catchiness, hell, there we a lot of those subtle, black metal-ish moments that left me impressed with the fact a grindcore band other than Pig Destroys could actually pull in some other influence so well.
@curly_wyn2 жыл бұрын
One correction: The melodic, grand, atmospheric-sounding moments on Voices are not black metal; they’re post-hardcore.

BTW i consider Wormrot a fusion between screamo and grindcore, definitely not just grindcore. Some of their chord progressions remind me of Envy a little bit and hopefully I'm not just being a racist because their both Asian bands(completely different parts tho).

I feel like it's not really understood in this review. This is simple, violent metal distilled to a perfectly minimal core of pure energy. A visceral blast that is the musical analogue of smashing bottles over nazi heads. Cover to cover bangers. Essential for anyone that can tolerate the extreme. Will pull the butt plug out of the most toxically elitist metal fans. Simple but effective. Memorable. Intense.
@No0ne0015 жыл бұрын
Excuse me sir but it's like 26 minutes and thirteen seconds. I'm surprised you reviewed this and I agree with you in some ways but the lesser tracks make you appreciate the better tracks in my opinion. I'd easily give it an 8.5

you should really stick to reviewing music that you understand, and stop trying to please everyone. This Wormrot Album is Is a solid 8.5 to 9. Everything from the production to the arrangement and execution is absolutely top notch. There is nothing meat and potatoes about this classic album.

I don't understand grindcore. Its not the sound that I dont get, but the short songs. How can you tell a story or convey an idea in 30 seconds? Can someone explain this to me? Not trying to be a dick, Im genuinely curious about the appeal. I know it sounds shitty, but I dont know how to ask this without it coming off as condescending. Sorry =/
@keanucarson8 жыл бұрын
Jack Jackson short and sweet pain and brutality is generally the main idea. its a genre that prides itself on doing a lot in a short space of time. think of a grindcore track like the life of a dying infant in africa: a short flash of horror
@dethdonald60858 жыл бұрын
You listen to Grindcore albums not individual songs. Listen to Wormrot's Abuse album and you will have a hard time telling where one song ends and another begins.
@jackjackson75378 жыл бұрын
DethDonald I can understand the appeal of something like this. That wasn't necessarily the vibe I got from my cursory (very cursory) listen of Voices, but Ill try to give it a second listen to see if that changes. Thanks for the feedback!
