Can you explain what the (Black Box) warning the FDA added to Enbrel. My RA Dr. wants me to start the weekly shot. But, I’m also on Hydrchlorquine which also has a (Black Box) warning. I’m concerned about being on 2 medications with an FDA Black Box warning. Thank you.

I have flare ups of gout when I have procedures requiring contrast meds injected in me to see xrays, heperin I received for angioplasty, COVID vaccine flared my gout, …I was able to reduce chronic gout with a very low carb diet, and by fasting…though fasting can trigger gout for some reason….I have gout almost all the time, and can never get my uric acid below 7’s. I use colchicine for initial pain control. I was using prednisone but stopped because of its side effects.

It sounds like you've been through a lot with your gout. Have you tried any other remedies or treatments that have worked for you?

@@rheumatologistoncall initially very strict dietary guidelines, including Dr Longo’s Prolon mimicking fasting program out of USC and giving up alcohol, went strict keto in between Prolon, and was free of monthly gout for almost year…but flares came back…my Rhuemy thinks I have osteoarthritis/gout all the time…my weight is stuck now and in my HMO their dietary response is vegetarian…I am listening to someone new to me on YT ( i read everyone) and he is a cardiologist whose goal is to get patients off pharmaceuticals first with raw vegetable ‘cleanse’….kind of reminds me of Dean Ornish in the early days, only frankly better…raw veggies disturb my gut and I am trying to garner some success still ingesting animal proteins and with very low carbs…but my meds are smacking me around 🥲🤪 I am 3 months from second HA and have CHF, EF is 35….my Food is Medicine hope for last many years has succumbed to drinking Western Medicine’s version of drinking their koolaid…it is hard to follow a protocol that I dont believe in…

@@rheumatologistoncall I read the book Drop Acid and followed dr’s advice along with keto diet. ..Quercetin, tart cherry, etc I just learned the diuretics and aspirin I was put on causes gout flares, and the requirement I only drink 6 cups of water daily due to heart failure may mean my gout never goes away…its a dangerous situation…if my uric acid and weight can be reduced I might be able to wean off some of these meds…but my ejection fracture has got to improve.

Yup my BP pills duretic causing my gout and doctor never even suggested, just kept giving me more and more pills for gout and after those it would come right back.
