Used to love Beast Wars as a kid. Tried to download a demo via dial up only to find out it ran abysmally slow because my computer was too old. Later in life, I learned that was a blessing in disguise.

Want to hear something really confusing? The TV show was titled Beast Wars: Transformers (or “Beasties: Transformers” for you Canadian folks), but the franchise itself is officially called Transformers: Beast Wars. And as if that wasn’t enough after the third season the show did a time-jump and rebranded to Beast Machines: Transformers, but the franchise kept its Transformers: Beast Wars name.

God beast machines is what introduced me to the uncanny valley. All the humanoid robot modes of that were terrifying.

It gets even more confusing! I grew up in Canada and I never saw it on tv, only VHS tapes but I don't know anything about "Beasties". The episodes on tape were "Transformers: Beast Wars" followed by "Beast Machines", and there was some debate that Beast Machines were knockoff/bootleg episodes since they didn't have the Transformers branding.

Now you guys should try this show's "sister show" game, Reboot. Imagine a really bad Tony Hawk skate game where the whole world is icy. (Because their high tech skate boards float.) Pure nightmare fuel for controls and makes for a really bad game.

The name Beasties was only specific to the YTV channel. That was a cable channel. For those of us without cable, any channel it was on was probably a US one that we would get the broadcast signal for via antenna, so a lot of us in Canada still called it Beast Wars because that is how we saw it :)

I would love to see a NEW Beast Wars game. At this point, with the power modern systems have, the game could use assets from the show without quality loss. Imagine playing a GOOD Beast Wars game today that looks EXACTLY like the show. That would be crazy.

Love Beast Wars so much. Game is kinda bad 😂 I’m actually writing a kinda script for the episode that never was released of Rattrap putting Dinobots memories back in him in his Transmetal 2 body. Hope I could find someone to animate it. One of the best shows in my opinion

I played this game so much when I was a kid, back in 1997, I had Resident Evil which made me an instant fan, And this. I was obsessed with Transformers, especially Beast Wars. I had to get the game. Even though the reviews were bad, I just had to have it. And it was indeed bad, Especially the absolutely horrendous voice acting it's a shame they couldn't use the actual voice cast from the show. Still despite how bad it was, For my child mind, it was still fun and I loved it, Just being able to be Dinobot was enough for me to basically fanboy. The game became a guilty pleasure for me, I was under no illusion how bad the game was. Yet I loved it anyway, One thing that I did find was really good though was the soundtrack, The composer did a great job with the game, Even though the gameplay was mediocre, The music was just awesome. Also the game had a sort of charm that I liked. I shouldn't like this game objectively, yet the nostalgia and sentimental value is high for me with this one. A pity you can't play as Waspinator, but then I cringe when I realize how bad the substitute voice would be in this game, so probably for the best Waspinator was omitted. The Beast Wars Transmetal fighting game though... that one is just irredeemable. I felt very cheated when I got that one, the sentimentality wasn't enough to save that game for me.
