My guess the high average review is because this is still so early in the timeline of 3D platformers. This came out the same month as Crash Bandicoot but before the European release of Mario 64.

The final scene after you win is Cheesy surrounded by mouse traps. The screen goes black and you hear a trap go off.

One of the reasons those twin-stick section control so poorly was this was a pre-Dual Shock game. Doesn’t excuse the rest of the game though

The execution here looks rough but I do like the sheer variety of modes and the mid-'90s castle aesthetic. Guessing the controls would drive me mad in about five minutes, though.

Can you do Tak and the Guardians of Gross for the next worst game video? It has some of the most awkward design decisions, and everything after the first chapter is just climbing colossal monsters and playing weird minigames back to back. The soundtrack is nothing too special except for that one masterpiece you'll hear somewhere in the second level of the first chapter.

First heard of Cheesy in Caddicarus' review of the game, formerly titled That Cheesy Bastard. It made me more than happy Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Tomba, and Croc(which mastered tank controls in a platformer) came right after and are colorful, high-quality experiences than this excuse for a 'mascot title'(though Knack is a lot better, especially it's killer sequel from 2018). Not only did Dazz of Did You Know Gaming torture Caddy once with a disgusting yellow rat he compared to the appearance of That Yellow Bastard from Sin City(hence the title), but twice with Snow White and the Seven Clever Boys(another one of Phoenix Games' abysmal shovelware and Disney ripoffs on the PS2). 🎵Dazz, you're an asshole!🎵
