My worst job was weirdly enough simultaniously my best job. In the 1990's I worked fora company that "future proved" newly build garbage dumps by putting down a special bedding at the very bottom. This was made of some sort of syntethic liner that came in rolls about 3 meters wide and about 2 soccer fields long (a bit depending on the size of the dump site of course). During the rolling out of such material, 2 rolls would slightly overlap (about 2cm) and welded together with a special hot air welding machine. I did this tojob together with a mate and it was our task to make sure the overlap was not only positioned correctly but that it was free of sand and dirt so the weld wouldn't be compromised. The machine doing the welding had the blistering speed of 1 meter a minute. The main problem was that these new dumps often were build next to the old dump. I don't know if you ever have been on a dumpsite in a hot summer right after rain but imagine working the enire day on a garbage dump trying to keep something CLEAN. Work started at dawn and went on to dusk. If we could see, we worked basically. It was the worst job because of location and the keeping things clean in the dirtiest environment possible but it was also the best job because my mate and I not only had a mandatory workpace of a meter a minute, it was during one of the best summers in regards to weather, we were allowed to smoke (the devils lettuce) during work and about 60% of our pay was overtime pay (which in my country means at least 50% extra hourly but can rise to 200% depending on the situation) We made weekly what we would normally make in a month, perhaps even more. On top of that, work was always on locations that were not very close to home so Monday mornings around 4am we would drive to a site, start working till sundown, then got 25 quid per person for food and drinks (and in the case of my mate and I this meant that half of that money went to food and the other half was free smoking) AND during the week we stayed at a hotel... all paid by the boss. So yes, the actual work.... not the best you can get, many a gag moment during the days depending on weather and wind direction but overall... best job I ever did. Sadly it was just a temp job and only lasted a few months.

My worst job was packing online groceries for a well known UK supermarket , the worst part is I was in the chilled section which meant starting at 3am and wearing a really thick coat and rushing around in a walk in fridge the size of a store. You have to wear a machine on your wrist which tells you what to pick and is constantly beeping telling you to hurry up. I lasted 4 days . This job still exists in 2021 if anyone's interested.

Worst job I ever had was a production job for Mars. 12+ hours on my feet, not allowed to sit down except for breaks. I was thrown right into everything without any training or easing into it, expected to be able to do everything on my own from Day One. There was never a lull in the work, just boxes or baggies coming at me all day long. And since I was hired by a hiring company and not by Mars directly, I was basically a second class citizen who couldn't even get most of the benefits of the job. I quit after a week and I don't regret it at all.

Former History teacher here, and I'm wondering how on earth you could make a "Worst Jobs in History" video and not mention chimney sweeps??!! Don't think Dick Van Dyke, ala Mary Poppins, but rather small boys (average ages 5-10, and almost exclusively procured from orphanages), who would have to crawl into the claustrophobic canals and chambers of multiple, intertwined chimneys of large houses or apartment buildings. If their task-masters didn't think they were working quickly enough, they would literally start a fire in the fireplace, hence where we get the saying, "To light a fire under someone's ass." Moreover, it was NOT at all uncommon for these poor children to get stuck in the chimneys and eventually die there (in my opinion, a fate much worse than Groom of the Stool, which as noted, was actually a coveted position). I'm really disappointed with the authors of this video for not doing better research and including a job that people fought for, whilst omitting one in which a great many innocent children died.

Not because of the work itself or the customers, but for having the rudest and most foul-mouthed coworkers I've ever had the displeasure of working with, and because of one particular manager. When I got home the very first night I did orientation, I found out that my aunt had gone on hospice at just 49 years old. As her health declined, and because I was working literally everyday between two jobs, I asked for one day off because my aunt was on her deathbed and I wanted just one day to process everything. When she passed away the next week, I called in for bereavement and this manager accused me of lying about it, claiming I said she passed the previous week. I told her no, I said she was on her deathbed. But she insisted she was right. Needless to say, I didn't stick around very long.

How about people who have to clean up homes where people have died in and get them ready for a new tennant? Imagine walking into a place that someone died in and werent found for weeks and you smell stale death in the place as soon as the door opens. Worst job ever

Those get paid well, I think. I was interested in that one time, but then I went to work for Costco. So, I gave that up.
@MeNoSpeakJibberish3 жыл бұрын
@@Tinyfurball I will let you know from 1st hand experience those jobs are not paid well (im based in uk). Minimum wage a lot of the time. Its certainly not for everyone if you dont mind that smell then fair play but i wouldnt want to do it again. Totally respect those who do it full time

What about those that have to clean up horrific murder scenes?
@MeNoSpeakJibberish3 жыл бұрын
@@vpdownunder9032 that goes without saying really. Im saying I have respect for people that deal with any "death job" that especially includes the more disturbing and horrific ones

Did anyone else pick up on the humor of the narrator's phrase, "he was 'privy'," pun intended or not? Clever either way!

The narrator's pitch can get to a level that sounds like Jerry from Rick and Morty.

Considering how many jobs there are where people have to wipe disabled people's butts and bathe them, being the Groom of the Stool really isn't that bad of a job. Especially with how well it paid.
@magnemoe13 жыл бұрын
Groom of the Stool was actually an extremely posh position in Renascence France, noblemen hungered for it as it was one of the rare chance you will be alone with the king else you have the rest of the court around to cancel you. Yes this obviously require that the king knew you and thought you was so smart he listen to you.

the worst job I had was baby sitting. I had THE WORST kids they were so spoiled for an example once the kids mom told me the kid needed to wash his hands before eating so I told them and they said "IM NOT WASHING MY HANDS POOR LOSER" so I told them to wash their hands again but THEN they went into the bathroom and I thought good their washing their hands but when they came out their hands were wet and brown and they smeared their hands on my face (the brownness was poop) so I called their parents to tell them what happened and they said "thats your fault for not knowing how to take care of my kids" and EVEN WORSE THE SAME THING HAPPENED FOR EVERY SINGLE MEAL AND EVEN WORSE I HAD TO BABYSIT THEM FOR 5 MONTHS AND EVEN WORSE THEY ONLY PAYED ME 20 DOLLARS MORE THE WHOLE 5 MONTHS
