For their DLC, they plan on adding the prison system and funneling players in and out over extremely minimal or imaginary charges, purposely denying them from passing stipulations for parole, and forcing them to pay exorbitant amounts of money for fees while never being able to get a proper job or housing. Every time you get rearrested for not being to pass impossible parole criteria, they add thousands of dollars of debt to your life that you have to repay when you get out or you're arrested yet again. Ah, Avatarika, aka "Dom-3", aka the first "reality show mmo", the OG mmo made for middle aged women that was, actually, very popular with them in 2006-2007. It was originally an official tie-in for the one of the most popular reality shows in history, russian "Dom-2, Build your Love", which ran for 16 years (2004-2020) on the most popular entertainment channel in the country (TNT), they aired a new episone every 6 hours, daily, with millions of people (mostly middle aged women) watching them every single day. p.s. "Dom" means "House" in russian. The goal of the tv show originally was for contestants to build a house and find love, the winner gets to live in said house with their newfound loved one. Dom 1 was exactly that. Dom-2, on the other hand, was basically "watching a bunch of trashy people have sex, argue, fight and do other shit under 24/7 surveilence" for 16 years. edit: I was wrong, they relaunched Dom-2. Its still going. over 17 years now.

So it's MTV's Real World but in Russia?
@nikenit Жыл бұрын
@HelloHelloe Not really, Russia had it's official licensed Big Brother too, by the same channel even. Dom-2 started as "people trying to build a house competing for it at the end, get voted out, play games etc" and morphed into "trash TV that everyone hates, and there is no house, noone cares about the house" very quickly. It was like Jersey Shore 5 years before Jersey Shore.

Russian here. Never heard of this game. Looks like some sims fan had a "great" idea but didn't think it through. I'll try to comment on what I can to clarify. First, "Avatarica" probably supposed to translate to "Avatarland" or something like that, "avatar" being a word for player character in games. 8:01 Someone answered "hello" with Russian friendly/playful "hi". 8:03 He said that he is playing for a long time and is happy to help. It looks like a real person speaking. 12:05 I think "corns" was supposed to be blisters, no idea how they got this translation 12:38 Hello, American guy! European cars tend to be smaller than yours. I'm not a car person at all but I see cars like that on streets - I think this one is old-ish design but I may be wrong - and the scale seems about right for an old car, or maybe a bit off. Here's a random video with a person walking around and sitting inside an old (soviet-era) car. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHnIg3iIbdCdf6M 13:15 Russian language spelling can be rather hard sometimes, mistakes are easy to make. They tried to translate that into English very very poorly. Crosswords are traditionally a popular passtime, especially for pre-smartphone generations. 17:31 Not many Russians own a car, and taxis are expensive in terms of paychecks. People rely on public transport or walking long distances, so this is realistic (but realism isn't a good idea here of course). I guess walking together is also a socializing experience like driving together in the US. I briefly saw circled "M" on maps, on real maps this usually indicates "metro" (subway train station). If I'm correct, this is probably the intended way for long distance commutes because this is how people get around in largest cities here (again, realistic but bad game design). 19:45 Orthodox calendar is shifted(for no sane reason). So we celebrate Christmas after new year on jan 7th. And whatever the weird calculations are done to determine Easter date resulted in it being in may (in real life) - no idea what logic (if any) is behind this. I literally can still see Easter decorations out my window right now. 20:10 They most likely meant you need at least one person to compete against. Nor sure about the US but bowling here is typically a group activity, and a relatively expensive one. But it is normal and acceptable to play alone. 21:25 Some high-end clubs can have a bouncer to assess your attire. Never really understood that and never actually tried to get into one, but I'm sure you didn't miss much. Unfortunately a lot of Russian MMOs have hard monetization. Not a lot of people are willing to pour money into the games so they make sure to suck dry anyone who is. Also a lot of them - especially small ones - are "stricter" than American ones, not sure why. Like, more serious effort is expected. Though not normally on Korean grindfest level either although it varies. Anyway I totally agree this sad excuse for adding realism to a MMO rightfully deserves to die and serve as a reminder that many ideas look interesting when discussed in abstract terms, but immediately seem stupid when implemented in reality. P.S. no comment on how boring soviet-era buildings and roads are? Or why you do not need to drive to get to a shop, or why shops are not giant-sized?
@Draugo3 жыл бұрын
If I remember correctly Orthodox calendar is shifted because it's still in Julian calendar instead of Gregorian and as such leap years are calculated differently which makes it shift slowly further apart.

Dude, those lyrics... 😣 The part at 10:55 where it goes "What if your friend sent you a letter? A letter from HELL..." and then the BIG red "MISS" appears with the red lighting was a bit sinister.

Josh, the song you chose is literally named "A Letter From Hell" by some artist called Indigochild. I think the devs just chose the songs that sounds funky.
