Congratulations Phil , making a KOM at that height coming from the sea is admirable. When you come back you can try KOM in less busy climbs near Bogota, for example, La Cuchilla, Guasca, is a paradise and has more height. They climb it at GFNY Colombia. Colombians use the word "paro" for a strike. So in this case, paro de camioneros. Also, A better day to climb patios without all the traffic are Sunday or festivos (Colombian holidays that usually fall on Mondays). This means you have ciclovia. Granted you will have thousands of cyclists and still some cars but it might be a little easier to navigate. Great video and great work!

Thank you so much Mr Gaimon for coming to Colombia and making this good video. The truckers were on strike is, los vagos camioneros estuvieron de paro, como siempre. I thought Rigo did this in 14 something minutes once, did he not? This is similar to my school run which is the same gradient but 11 km long and my best time is 41 minutes. The second best cycling town in Colombia is probably Manizales or Medellin. Pasto, Nariño is the best. Anyhow, you made a beautiful and enjoyable video and congratulations from my heart and, most of all, queensize thanks.

The truck strike was actually because the city government established a driving restriction for the older trucks, as a measurement to improve air quality in the city. Anyway, your KOM achievement is impressive, even more, considering that you almost have to stop twice. Phil, I have a KOM challenge for you. It's probably the longest road climb in SoCal (~35 miles) with the most elevation gain (~9,000'). It goes from just West of Maricopa on Hwy 166, then East onto Hudson Ranch Rd, then South on Cerro Noreste to the top. Maricopa is at ~500' elevation and the top of Cerro Noreste is at ~8300'. However the climb has some downhill sections totaling ~1500 of descent, so you end up climbing I think ~9,000'. I would like to see you make a video of your attempt.
