Can't believe we still didn't get a proper MK9 Remaster. I recently made a tribute video of X360 as the last great generation (hope I'm wrong) and when capturing the footage, I re-visited MK9. I'm in awe how amazing it is. The story mode - which serves as a reboot - is great, better than the 2020 movie we got. Gameplay, maps, characters, costumes, art style are such a tribute to the arcade MK's from the 90's we grew up with.

To be fair one of the main plot points M1K's story is that Liu Kang rewrote the lives of certain villains in the hopes of setting them straight but they ended regressing to how they used to be thanks to Titan Shang Tsung's manipulation

you can't stop every inconvenience, even with powers to reset the timeline you can't stop a constant. shang tsung will always go on to become evil, shao khan will always be a tyrant in outworld, etc. that's why the huge marketing quote from this game was "it's in our blood" bc no matter who resets the timeline these things will be the same.

Honestly this would have benefitted alot from cutting the lin kuei storyline i think, as is they feel like they have to charge through plot points to fit everything they wanted, Havik needed to have more, like explaining if he has a limit to the body regen shit instead of just acting like a buffed titan variant cant regen after getting his limbs ripped off a few times

@@Joker2003-v6x no I did not. What I wanted was him to lose to anyone in a way that makes SENSE AT LEAST. Their reason for noob to beat was terrible the reason was. That noob downloaded HAVIKS abilities but once again even if he predicted everything havik is a titan and should beat noob with a just one atom of his. A reason that was abt to make sense was that havik made bi han too powerful at the point where he became more powerful than him. But they ruined that why because Havik was using the kamidogus which makes him a quintillion times stronger than he already is. So that means that not only is bi han more powerful than keeper of times but also more powerful than the kamidogus and keeper of time combined.

It was really mid writing that was done simply to introduce the new characters, I feel like aftermath took way more money and effort so for MK1 they scaled back to maintain a decent profit. I hope that whatever comes next for MK is they ditch the multi-timeline stuff, make liu kang a more background support character and flesh out the world that we currently have without the cheap multiverse re-skin crap. MK is at a severe low-point and needs an overhaul.

The multiple timelines ruined all the stakes and limits character development. Things that could’ve have made this better… - We could’ve had main timeline Rain sacrificing himself for Kitana or Tanya to make amends for his actions. (Rain/Tanya/Kitana Chapter) - Havik invade mainline Outworld and possibly have Mileena forced to have Shaos Rebel Army assist (Shao/Reiko Chapter) - Takeda actually being used in the story mode - Geras chapter

I still have to go through the story myself, only watched the final to find the opinion... From the remarks, I can't help but shake the feeling that this was "a distraction" / "lab test" if you will. Someone pulling strings but not hard enough so they don't get noticed too soon, influencing thoughts slightly so they get a good view of this timeline. Tytan Shao, titan Shinock / Cetrion, options by the boatload...

I haven’t bought MK1 yet but the one complaint I’ve heard over and over since its release is that the writing is a bit to be desired. Not that the writing is unbearable or out right terrible but just that it’s sometimes painfully inconsistent. Hopefully they’ll improve upon these things in later dlc’s but I’m kinda doubtful of that, at the moment.

I think the visuals and characters really carry this experience. The characters, while not fully developed properly imo, are still interesting characters cause the colorful MK cast is always fun to watch and play. The story and development just doesnt happen at a satisfying pace. Moving way too fast and not allowing its characters to breathe and have their moment to shine. I completely agree with your critique on Havik, hopefully they they improve the main timeline Havik and make him more chaotic in the future, i think there is definitely room to grow his character. Finally, the timeline stuff really needs to wrap up fast. Liu Kang or SOMEONE needs to create one timeline and give a middle finger to all the other ones. it's killing the stakes. While i enjoyed it, immensely, it couldve definitely been improved. I kinda hope that we get no more story DLCS and move on to the next game(After a kombat pack 3 and maybe 4). I think its time to progress forward in the story instead of trying to hastily wrap all the different plots this game set up.

I agree that the cinematics and production is stellar for a story mode of a fighting game. But netherrealm is always top tier in that regard. BUT the ending killed the story for me. I remember yelling to myself „that‘s it?!“ So many unanswered questions. What happend to Havik? What is Empress Tanya doing? How is Liu Kang and Geras desling with other timelines that could invade? How does Sektor reform the Lin Kuei in Bi Han‘s absence? There‘s not even an after credti scene indicating anything. It feels incredibly rushed and and afterthought unfortunately. Kind of like „oh shit, we have these new DLC characters that need a bit of an introduction. Guys, you have one hour, give me all you have“ All in all I‘d give the story a 6/10. I had a good time, the cinematography and choreography is great but was I was left disappointed in the end. Aftermath was way better in my opinion.

This was terrible “Chaos” right? It was barely any chaos. This was controlled wickedness. For Havik to have the reputation he has, I was expecting MORE blood falling besides Rain. I’m not talking from the villains side, the hero side. I wanted Tanya to return to her roots as a betrayer, that didn’t happen. Noob was literally born from death, that should have been a layup to spin. You had a problem with Noob beating Titan Havik and I agree, me? I was stunned that Cyrax beat Bi-Han, and so soon into the story. You know what was true Chaos to me? The ending of MK9. Sindel wiping away 3/4 of the entire squad. Nightwolf sacrificing himself to take Sindel with him, Raiden and Liu getting into it til the point where Raiden accidentally kills Liu. That is chaotic. And it was fun. This? This was an attempt to follow up the added Shang Tsung add on from last game. Now I’m at a point where I hope they don’t do this again. Great content man, thank you for the video.

I'm 42 years old, been mortal kombat fans when Mortal Kombat started. I know all the lore and stories of all Mortal Kombat but this story line is the worst of all. I find Havik in comic book way more interessting than this titan havik. What happen next? Who is gonna be the next sub-zero? Will there be another sub-zero? Is there another story line in kp3? There are so many questions...

worst storymode vs season 1, and all i get for a full priced game is a short and bad story, a few maps and two characters and tre on post- launch. vs the full game that release with how many characters and all the main game in general is already here when talk about the price? The post-launch characters should have been ready too, they want to keep us Post- pone our self going on playing wait for that, so what i pay for now? idc about the offline content, yes some was better. not many hours of gameplay vs a many many years on pvp. My focus is Mech and PVP,. still the story was BAD. The new smoother feeling in the game? is it only me? what is that? it was always and is 60 fps and still are, anyway on my monitor some smother feeling is present like Hz feeling and Ashrah air combos many times now has a different timing or at the same time the enemy player falling slower or faster (not always). idk i cant se any change here in the game state report.

My headcanon theory as to why Havik stopped regenerating is that there's a limit to how many times he can do it in a given time frame, like water going down the drain faster than you can fill up your sink. Havik cannot be killed but he can be stopped (technically he can given the implication that the void Noob Saibot can travel through would destroy Havik).

Then Tanya is got to be the most powerful character in the game, she has the screen times, the most fights win with no lost, able to speak ancient dragon language and beat Noob who in turn beats Titan Havik...So prove me wrong that Tanya is not the most powerful character than!!!

What was the point of titan havik absorbing the crystals (forgot name) if they dont help in combat? NRS really shit the bed with not exploring titans. Making everyone a titan and this endless multiversal threat story arc is so over done and even with that you can tell the effort was low. life long fan and ive had my fill

of course its the worst story ever, it makes Teletubbies story looks like a masterpiece. what you expect from a story written by Woke-NRS and Sweet Baby. the story did add nothing to the game, looks like they only added the story to introduce the newly added genderswapped powerpuff robo-dolls. cause you know its Woke-tal Kombat so they had to add WOUMAN POWAHH and WOKEANDA in every corner of the plot :)

If they ever make another reboot which they probably might because I’m not sure how long they can keep up this multiverse stuff. For the reboot to happen they might have to kill off Liu Kang in some way because he and Shang Tsung were the reason of the multiverse to happen so if he dies maybe in the next installment or another expansion story if they make another one perhaps the multiverse would come to an end and there would be only one timeline to follow from there.

The biggest problem to me in MK arent the timelines, unlike the movies at least the writers are having fun with it in like in the Armageddon chapter. Its the damn Titans, MK hasn't told their origins, their relationship with the Elder Gods or themselves. Another problem is the powers of the Titans Of Time, they create so many problems

Given Titan Havik enhanced Bi-Han's Noob Saibot form to become a power house makes sense why he was able to him. Yeah y'all are not taking away the W from Bi-Han especially in the past two timelines he was able to defeat the Elemental's at the temple of the Elements. But other than that the story felt rushed & didn't know how Bi-Han would get his redemption.

I hate how they forgot about someone that is called "TITAN' HAVIK. The suppossed Conqueror of many timelines. Not only noob defeat him with nothing. There are no effort noone dies fighting the last boss. That last boss just lose & forgotten after 1v1. We dont know what Liu Kang does with the merged Timeline.

Where the hell was normal Takeda? Did Tanya go back for the dragon? Rain can teleport, why did he just…die? Sektor and Cyrax can fly, why didn’t they? Why wasn’t Harumi in the ending?

Considering how alright the base game's story was (even with the rushed Multiverse stuff at the end) I had confidence Khaos Reigns would be pretty cool as a story expansion. But in typical Netherrealm fashion the severely dropped the ball Titan Havik is the same kind of cookie cutter villan that NRS is lazily turning all of its villains into. The alternate versions of Rain, Tanya, and Johnny Cage were cool to see but the don't ultimately serve much purpose nor give the players reason to care about them (WW2 Johnny is just a background extra and does absolutely nothing), and theres so many plot holes its almost like they're trying to regress back to MK11's style of writing Khao Reigns as a story is fun spectacle but so disappointing overall. But on the positive side it does give us some cool new stages with some actually fantastic music for once and all 3 of the DLC Characters are really fun! (I feel the other 3 guests will be fun too once they release)

They should have hinted at Onaga but didn’t these repetitive stories are not the greatest just okay or at least make another shalion monks so that can fill in plot holes. I probably won’t pre order the next expansion. We as loyal fans since the first MK on the arcade machine all the way till now deserve better. The story is a big part and they are falling short. Also a lot of characters we haven’t seen since we were kids come back but as Kameos like what the f### which might at as well be not playable.

I feel robbed on the price I paid for this DLC. Other than the lacklustre story, there was a lot of content but not enough to justify the price. I don't think I can do Mortal Kombat anymore. Ive been a fan since its original release back in the early 90's. Bought every game since. But it has lost its way. I do still enjoy the game play. unfortunately its not enough. So I think it's time to move on and focus on other fighting games like Tekken 8. I think I'll just watch channels like yours to see what's going on with the game from time to time but I don't feel right in spending another dime on this. Just not worth it anymore.

Worst story ever for sure And MK1 Scorpion (Kuai Liang), MK1 Havik (Dairou), MK1 Tanya, MK1 Cyrax and MK1 Sektor are among the worst characters in MK history They shouldn't have given them so much screen time

Lol the ending is not the problem. The overall story was so bad that it just made sense that it ended so poorly. By the time noob fights havik you should be so upset by all the nonsense that has happened previously. Why was scorpion in this story again? Noob gets revealed and immediately gets his cheeks clapped by tanya but then later wins against a titan?? Grandmaster losing to clan members,the list goes on but you think the ending is the problem?? Lol
