Hi! For me the fur problem would be like the worts one too, but also something I would like to mention in case someone need this info, they are extremely affectionate cats. I have 6 cats and i am never alone, at least one or two are with me, always, if I’m sleeping, eating, cleaning, studying, showering… so yeah, they love to be by your side, and if you don’t let them, they start screaming and become pretty anxious, also, they love to be on top of you on your lap mostly but they also doesn’t care to lay on top of you too! I don’t mind them being so affectionate but i know that some people might not be confortable with so much intense affection! 😊

I agree! It’s the cat hair on everything! But I love my princess Luna so I just have to work double to keep up with her 😂. I have lint brushes all over. I vacuum upstairs one day, downstairs next day. It’s a regimented routine but she’s worth it 💕. The other thing I might complain about is every time I go into the kitchen she’s right behind me whining for food. Even if she already ate 10 minutes ago. But that could be my fault as I have spoiled her rotten. I’m trying to be more consistent and firm, but she looks at me with those big beautiful eyes and I cave. I think I need to be deprogrammed from my inability to say no and to stop spoiling her so much. Might be too late though 🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️

I know the feeling! I started feeding my two in tiny increments every time I’m in the kitchen. They always have dry food out, but the treats and wet food are now much smaller.

Oh yes u are so right on that one. My maincoon rides in the car with me and u can tell him vs my rat terrier after one car trip and rat terriers sheds a lot but not as much as my cat 😂 but that’s ok they so make up for it in personality!!!!

I have similar “problem” with my mini x 1/2 standard Australian Shepherd!! Had no idea but… I brush him every day or every other day sometimes. I also clip hair on his rear! I’ve found brushing& or combing his coat regularly REALLY HELPS the amount of hair around and in house keeps out tangles and actually takes less time to help control the fur. But, I wouldn’t trade him in for anything. He brings total joy 24/7 to me and my husband. Truthfully I’m L👀KING into getting a Maine Coon Kitten. I’m also L👀KING at another Standard Australian Shepherd puppy eventually. My 12 year old Great Dane is unfortunately showing her age. Most Danes life expectancy is 6-7 years old. I’m taking every day with her as a blessing. She is my heart ❤️. I’ve had her since she was 2 months old! And she hardly sheds! Complete opposite in care and size LOL 😝! But the 2 yr. Old Aussie helps keep her young they play every day. We’re on a farm so we have plenty of space to play but they are 💯% indoor kids the rest of the time! I’m looking forward to 0:18 everything you have to tell aboout your gorgeous boy. I’m going to watch your grooming tape now. Thank you 🙏 and enjoy the love 💕 and pleasure our animals give us❣️❣️❣️

Unless you have hairless cats, I think you can pretty much assume you will have cat hair everywhere in the house even with one cat. Years ago I had a short haired cat and man oh man, did he ever shed! Now my medium/long hair crew leave giant clumps everywhere when blowing their coats for the season, and still lots in general all year long. Almost daily I'm picking hair out of my eye. And vacuuming once a week is nowhere near enough. 😆

Agreed! Short haired cats shed a lot too. The fur with long haired cats is probably more noticeable because it turns into tumbleweeds 😹

My Maine Coon is only 5 months old, so he’s mini and his coat isn’t fully grown in yet but yes, I’d agree about the fur! I’d also add that it’s not just the fur in/on things but it’s the kind of fur they have, it’s almost like strings of cotton candy, so fine and long. But I wouldn’t have him any other way, he’s the best. 😻

Our MC Mix gets brushed 1 to 3 times a day. Takes about one minute each brushing and it makes the shedding and all things hair MUCH EASIER!!! Tried the every 2 to 3 day thing and it was a losing battle every time plus the cats actually ENJOY it since it is much more pleasing than the skip a day mess.

We're getting ready to get a female coonie. We already have 2 ragdolls so believe me, we too understand the problems with fur. We've had 2 coonies in the past. Interestingly one of them seemed to shed in clumps. It was great. Not as many loose hairs. For a quick pickup I would just crawl around on the floor and pick up the clumps. That was when I was in my 50's. Don't think I could do it now in my 70's. :) You just have to get really good with a brush. I know you can relate to that.

I agree! When I saw the question, I immediately thought The Fur! I love my two cats but the fur is like a third cat 😂. Also their fur is very soft and sticks to everything. I love black clothes but gave it up for years once I got Moe and Minnie. After 65 I decided I wanted my black clothes back, fur and all.

Agreed! I do wear black alot and live with 3 cats. I have a short haired snowshoe siamese thats 14 and sisters that have blue point siamese colors. They both have very soft silky hair. 1 has short/medium very thick soft fur ( like a rabbit), the other has long silky hair. They will be 3 soon. The shedding is out of control! We are in our 60s and its not so easy to keep on top of the hair these days, but my cats are my babies

I have a long-haired Calico, and I get it, as she has matting and knotting issues with her fur like your Maine Coon. Always got to stay on top of the grooming routine! And I think every cat owner understands the excessive fur, as most cats shed like crazy!! But I'll take the super affectionate super shedding cat like your Maine over a less affectionate light shedding one any day! That’s so cute that Moose follows you! Sometimes they act like lil dogs. My cat “Mittens” acts like a doggie sometimes, she follows me around too, Mittens gets along really good with my two dogs the dogs like her too. Right now we only have two dogs 🐶🐶🐾 and two cats🐱🐱 I love my pets.😘 I’m a pet lover 🐾❤

I agree..their fur..all year round..my boys are orange and white..so wearing my favorite color black is..very difficult and time consuming..even hanging in closet my clothes get covered..but I wouldn't give it up for anything

Imagine a herd of Maine Coon Cats that were feral. Just going around having babies. Big giant handsome lion like cats running around.... Crazy and gnarly looking with no combing.... they would look like rogue Navy SEALS.... My grandmother had dozens of feral cats under her back porch when I was really little. She loved them so much. They were the real deal. Scars and missing chunks of ears and stuff. She'd bring them milk and food and she would always warn me to be careful cause they were scrappers lol.... I loved them cats ❤.... 🐈 😻 🐈‍⬛️

The biggest mistake we made was not training Spinner how to be combed when he was young and it became a real hassle for us to keep him groomed because he liked to eat his hair and pine needles which cost us huge at the vet when we had to bring him in to clear his system of blockages. So the lesson here is it's very important to train your kitten how to be groomed or face thousands of dollars in vet bills and grooming to keep them looking good. Now both of us are on top of our Rummys grooming, diet, and litterbox upkeep because unfortunately we had to learn the hard way with Spinner of what can happen when you don't teach your cat to be groomed.

I have seen a kind of bubble to put over their heads to keep them from biting. It's made from plastic, they can breath in it, they are not expensive. I hope that helps. As to containing the kicks, I guess that's a two person job.

Oh, yeah-- and wrapping them in a huge towel or a blanket into a cat burrito should help. Catnip and treat afterwards might help claw clip time be associated with good stuff and maybe calm your Cat down. Best of luck, I know you love your giant fur ball.

Yes! I have used Bounce Pet Hair & Lint Guard dryer sheets and they worked great at removing cat fur when my cats were all non-Maine Coon. Now that I have a Maine Coon cat, those special dryer sheets aren't working very well due to those fine, cotton-like strands of fur.

My Nero started having hairballs even though he gets brushed…a lot! And is on sensitive skin and tummy special diet. So I (gasp!) shaved him down. I have a decent quality dog trimmer, for poodles and doodles and such, and use that. He is used to it, so he’s a good boy, sort of. I basically give him the lion cut minus the mane, leave him boots on his feet and a poof on his tail. I hand trim his head and neck with shears. Again, he is a very docile boy and is really good about it. Unless I wait till his hair grows all the way back out, then it takes me forever and he gets really crabby at the end.

He was very big and fat and short legs and loved water. He would purposely stand out in the Oregon rain and get soaked. And loved it. He wouldn't come in either. Mom would try to get him to come in out of the wet but no. He wasn't much of a hunter.
