Th best way to make gold is to have at least 6 level 80 characters. You do your dailies for all tradeskills every day and your cooldowns alone will get you over a thousand per day. One of the things that really bothers me about these get rich in wow videos is that they almost always involve farming an obscene amount of some consumable ingredient which doesn’t work as soon as everyone starts doing it because it floods the market. Either that or they talk about farming something for like 8 hours a day and I’m sitting here thinking “This is supposed to be fun, net a second job…”. Just dedicate an hour per day to alt leveling and giv them professions with big cooldowns. You’ll be rich by the end of the expansion and not spend 8 hours a day farming something.

Can this be done in cata? I haven't looked into cata yet. I would love to have 10 profession alts in cata. I did the cloth CDs in TBC last year and found them underwhelming, but I think with the daily CDs this method is a lot more viable. Only downside is that all your alts have sub optimal professions

It's probably not the most optimal but the idea is that it's very time efficient and very consistent. A lot of ppl who play classic have jobs/families etc. so this requires minimum time. As far as which profession; it really varies from expansion to expansion. For wotlk, I made lots of gold by doing 2 miners, 3 jc, 2 tailor and all 6 alts did cooking. The titansteel will profit about 100g each, the JC you're just selling the dragons eyes and they go for 100 to 150g each, the tailors will make enough mats for 1 22 slot bag per week and that profits about 1000g per week and the cooking will produce just shy of 1 stack per day of northern spices, which sells for 125g to 150g, SO: 100(miner) + 100(miner) + 125(JC) +125(JC) + 125(jc) + (1000/7=140)(tailor) + 130(cooks) = 845. The gold from all 6 cooking dailies will net you 90g and the 2 jc dailies will get you another 40 so about 975 per day which cries out to be rounded to 1000. This has the added advantage of diversifying your income across multiple markets so you're well insulated against any of them getting flooded and there's virtually zero rng involved so it's very consistent. I can usually get this all done in well under an hour. Bear in mind that I play on Windseeker which is a med/low pop server so prices are probably a bit deflated. @@NOHITJEROME

I love the idea of being able to make gold in limited time, it's all about having enough characters that can do the professions and putting in the early work. I hope to do this in cata if there are methods similar to it. I will take your advice and diversify and do as many options as possible. Ultimately I just need to level more characters and accept that the first month will be a lot of setup work. Making 1k/day from dailies sounds very promising and I'm sure it will be more in cata. @@Ozie1981

I'm glad you see the endgame, it's not necessarily to farm x method for 400g/hour for life, it's to get to the point where you can do anything you want in the game. gdkps, investing, mount collecting, whatever, it all takes gold. we always will need methods to get the first 5-10k+

Casual is great, RDF will help a lot with that. You can make extremely high gold per hour just queueing dungeons next phase with no commitment. This is will be the best time ever to play casually

buy a token or two then gdkp -> get 20k+ per run -> never buy gold again. i'd do this if i were starting out and wanted to build up gold fast. don't really need to buy a token right now on my end, but it's a solid starting option

Great guide, agree with all the techniques. Battered Hilt nice chase item, even on retail it's very low drop rate but a insane price, people still farm it for transmog. I'm at about 500k g on wotlk, ended up making a prot pala alt and living inside kara lol, combined with all my Tailoring/mining/jc alts for crafted cool downs/dailies. Gonna go ham spending gold on my feral druid and warlock in phase 4

500k is living large, that's enough for everything you want to do. You could even run your own normal mode ICC pug and pay tanks and heals and get shadowmourne if you wanted. (for far less than 500k, probably more like 50k) Love the daily alts, they are my favorite part of the game. I hope to do that setup in cata if there are profession dailies to exploit

@@NOHITJEROME yeah, lvled so many 80s, cuz that's basically what you do in retail, (dont play retail other than gold making) and just get every crafting profession, than bunch of mining/tailoring alts. Will pay off in cata with crafting transmog and having a TSM mog profile, will be lots of fun. I thought shadowmourn would be around 1m gold or something but now that they made it easier to get, i can see it being much cheaper.

so the retail strategy every expansion is to have a bunch of alts at the previous expansions max level (and max professions for each) and then level all the characters in the first month and do professions that way? do you know what professions are bis for cata goldmaking like that? i'll probably skip the transmog stuff since I hate storing lots of obscure items that take a long time to sell. @@NOHITJEROME yeah pretty much, with classic cata, xmogs will sell really fast first month on unique looking ones such blade of wizardry from tbc and stuff like that. cata specifically has tailoring cd's same as previous expansion cloth cds. Inscription for the new darkmoon cards will be profitable for a long time as well. Alchemy will be huge for the new mount that can be sold on the auction house (vial of the sands)

@@NOHITJEROMEwhat ive noticed is that MANY crafted items will sell for LESS than the sum of their materials in the AH because a crafted item tends to be SPECIFIC to a few while the raw materials are needed by nearly everyone and thus have higher demand, driving up the price. Today I was looking at some tailoring leg enchant thing from tailoring and it was that way. and it makes sense because only Warlocks and Priests would need that but the raw materials can be used for a huge variety of things. So today I noticed herbs selling well and just farmed that I will probably stick to the raw mats in AH for now since I have such a HUGE reserve. I do think Fel Iron is very underappreciated since its in outland and people are lazy and dont want to go there when they are level 80, they need to level stuff and for some reason LOTS of fel iron is required when leveling a few professions. So the demand is high, just always check AH first to see if cobalt is priced better since Cobalt is very very easy to get.

@@NOHITJEROMEI just tested this. 15 minutes to complete Hellfire Ramparts Normal Solo on DK. 57 gold (looted money + selling dropped trash and food items.) 12 full stacks of Runecloth and 7 full stacks of Netherweave to now be sent to AH.

Wait, you said people forgot about consume farming because prices hit rock bottom? Using that logic, it seems like lots of people farmed too many consumes as...the price hit rock bottom. If people forgot to farm them the prices would be sky high?

Nobody is fishing, lake In'dule is empty. Way less people are flipping enchants. Less stuff is being generated into the economy. Everyone overfarmed in the early phases. Now nobody is farming anymore. I'm not certain everyone will be able to just go back to farming the second prices go up. Things are habitual, the hype gets people to farm too. Now that is gone I think there will be a window to profit from farms that were overdone before.

I kinda lost motivation for making gold - and the game actually. Just been buying the AH every morning and the crafting to sell. Should I keep my crafts? We’re talking potions, gems, cooking stuff and LW? Right now leg enchants from LW are 5-10g profit so I cba, but they will most likely increase in Price when ICC comes?

craft low and hold if you can. every type of consume will go up. potions, gems, fish feasts, all of it. I'm focusing on potions of speed, wild magic, and fish feasts. LW leg enchants should go up too, but they are expensive to hold. (not worth for me) everyone will be getting three new sets of armor, which means 3x leg enchants, 3x gems, etc

Trash respawns. The faster idea is to clear to marrowgar and reset though. The first two rooms are about 1k rep. If your guild goes past marrowgar you are out of luck. The solution for day 1 prof guilds is 10 man trash farm. It’s not as fast but still viable

That's insane. I could definitely set up a paladin with ulduar gear myself but it's a hassle switching between hpal and tank paladin every few raid. probably should just do it though, I want a shadowmourne and boosting pays the bills (2-3x better than the best open world goldfarms from what I see)

Queue RDF and fish. Exactly. Same idea with leveling - level in the open world, queue RDF at the same time. The queues will only be instant for tanks. DPS will likely have 2min queues and healers 1 minute.@@thecookiemeister5374

Though I suppose the lower they go the more willing people will be to buy them arguably so it might level out. The information getting out on something like that causes a big supply spike. My main point is I used to get ~2g/kill now it's down to more like 1g because price averages have plummeted because supply has spiked.

it was 4.5g / kill on faerlina, now 2.50. gph is still above 1k. i think people just don't understand how much of a gear/dps check fights like putricide are now. i will spread the good word about these consumes to help out. hopefully you can get back to your old profit again soon@@Tinytox
