@Alice Bamber Year 13 *If you are a feminist you believe that women are equal to men* From observing feminists for a very long time, this is not true. Feminist speakers and leaders say the most vile, insulting, and and downright evil things about men in general, and are rarely (if ever) called out on this misandry by other feminists. In fact, more often feminists defend this behavior, regardless of the harm it causes the movement. In promoting feminist causes, feminist leaders and speakers use ridiculously insulting remarks (like "toxic masculinity," or "male privilege," for instance), overblown indignation at trivial male behavior (like "manspreading," for example), and outright falsehoods (like presenting the "wage gap" as being due to "oppression of women" as an example); and feminists everywhere in the western world shout more insulting remarks at any man who dares utter a syllable in defense of his gender. If feminism were about anything remotely resembling "equality," feminists would be calling out anyone who uses falsehoods and insulting remarks to promote the cause instead of defending them. That's just for starters, mind you. *Anyone who does not believe that is not a feminist* Do you know what this is called? The "No True Scotsman" fallacy. Feminists who proclaim (like you just did) that anyone who doesn't believe men and women are equal (i.e. hints that women are superior) "isn't a feminist" rarely argue this against the very "feminists" who think women are superior, it's only when a non-feminist states the obvious that this is said. Our discussion here is fairly representative. How many times have *you* publicly denounced a feminist speaker or leader who says such ridiculous things as, "put all men in prison camps," or "a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle." Yes, these things have been said, publicly, and no feminist uprising occurred against the speakers. Please, either reform your movement or just accept the truth.

@@Ztrading1 Anyone that doesn't call themselves a feminist always gets the "well look up the dictionary definition". This is one of the worst arguments someone can ever use (regardless if the definition fits or not). 1) reading the definition begs the question "what does equality mean"? Does it mean equality of out come? or equality of opportunity? one person reading the definition will say it means the first, another may say it means the last. and both reading it are correct because the definition is so short it doesn't expand on what "equality" means. (both cannot be correct if they contradict or cause different ways to "create equality"). 2) Many short hand definitions exist in politics such as Democrat or Republican. If you ask a democrat why they are not republican and then they give a reason.. would the democrat change their mind based on a "dictionary definition"? Probably not (and visa versa). 3) Everything I read by "feminists" op-eds.. feminist sites, feminist literature. I disagree with almost everything said on "how we fix society". I might agree with a problem they might sight "domestic violence is a problem". Fully agree. I might disagree on how to solve the issue and based on most literature I have read by feminists.. I cannot call myself a feminist based on that. 4) There are other issues that are never called out by other feminists and are fully supported by most feminists or the "loud minority" (as most feminists seem to think it is a minority that thinks this way, we will call the minority... even though the silent majority seems to not say anything at all so the "minority" out numbers the "majority" which is weird). Such as the use of "mansplaining" or "manspreading" While most feminists use those terms or excuse me the "loud minority" and the "silent majority" stays silent on this.. I cannot support feminism while these are unironically used. So no. I am not a feminist. and the Dictionary Definition doesn't hold a monopoly on what "equality" means. Because if all it means is "equality" then I don't need to use "feminist" as a descriptor. While there may be good feminists out there, I see the movement as a religion and not a very good one at that. Good Catholics, don't agree with the religion, Good Muslims, don't agree with the religion, etc etc etc.

Let's take a far more common and extreme example of this phenomina: some people use religions such as christianity to justify homophobia, to the extent wherein they will discriminate against, assault, or verbally abuse others (and get away with it!). Would you call this a reflection of christianity? Does this mean that christianity is bad? Does this mean that people should refuse to be christian? I think not. It is both oversimplifying and ignorant to hold the movement of feminism (which encourages freedom and opportunity for all men and women) accountable for the actions of a tiny minority.

The definition of Feminist is ‘the advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes’. True feminism allows women to be EQUAL to men. The ‘feminists’ many of the people are referring to in the video supposedly advocate for women to have more rights than men. This is not feminism and only a small amount of people actually believes in those ideologies. I hear the opinions of people who don’t identify with feminism but I don’t understand why you wouldn’t label yourself as a feminist or at least say you hope you are one, as by saying this you are saying you don’t believe in equality. Something everyone should believe in. We don’t believe we are better than men at all, we just want the same chances you get. Not any more or any less. I would love to hear anyones opinions wether they are the same or they differ in order to understand all viewpoints regarding this matter :)

@Alice Bamber Year 13 the days where feminism was about equal rights are long gone. Women have equal rights, feminism isn't campaigning for something that already exists. That would be dumb. The feminists that still think they're campaigning for equal rights are brainwashed beyond belief. Feminism's motives are quite sinister now. It's all about pushing gender politics, equality of outcome and basically femunism (a word I invented which is basically feminism mixed with communism, which is basically what modern feminism is).
