Would you pay for this seat? Business Class on BA’s Dreamliner (B787-8)

For this route the avios are slightly more than expected but considering you’re going on the 787 with a flat bed seat it’s definitely a bargain

Haven't sat facing backwards since I was in an RAF Tristar. All seats on RAF flights were backwards facing, VC-10's too..

Flying backwards isn’t my thing , it doesn’t seem to bother you. Even on a train or bus I always get a seat facing forward. Maybe it’s just me. Thanks for the video. ;-))

I can't face backwards on a bus, car or anything but with the airplane it's different because there are no static objects outside moving towards the different direction. Therefore it does not bother me at all. You should try it and see!

I have to say this looks like the worst business class seat, worse if you travelling alone and they have to serve you through the lowered partition. I guess they want to squeeze as many sets as they can into business class! Plus no storage and feels claustrophobic.

Thank you for sharing this flight. I just like to fly forward as a passenger. I have flown so many times backwards in the "jump seat". Hahaha, I am a former Purser F/A with an American airline. I like the treat flying forward. But please enjoy flying in general.

I definitely recognized that guy, I believe 'twas Nicky Kelvin. I think business class is good nowadays because you will be isolated but it will definitely be bad for the catering services coz it appears to be not on business class. But it doesn't matter as long as you are safe, you can eat the best food at the restaurant in your current destination.

B/A you were lucky you could even eat the food. Last time I travelled with B/A 11+ hour flight LHR to BKK the food was inedible. And I mean inedible. I was given a dried up pasta dish I couldn't even separate the pasta. Sent an Email to B/A never got a reply. Never again will I fly with that airline, best of luck to anyone that does. If they close down due to this Covid I for one would be happy.

Looks very delicious choc dessert! I like watching Friends too! BA used this summer its 787-8s on routes to LCA, AMS and ATH lately..At one point ATH got both the 787-8 and -9 on the same day!

I'm surprised that when you had got to the other end of that boarding gate you didn't actually find yourself already in Athens. Do they keep the divider down still for take-off etc due to Covid? As you say that layout has some pro's and cons, the BA A350 is a better layout now of course for business. Good review as always, the food not as good as normal times, but at least it is Do & Co now, imagine if it was the old catering company, wasn't it Gate Gourmet or such?

Yes, going down those escalators and then up again on the other side seems like a very long trip! The divider must be down for take off and landing still, which makes it VERY awkward since the face of your neighbour is about 50cm from yours. Without divider this seat is totally ridiculous and I'd never fly this layout. With the divider up though it's a completely different story - very private (although still an out of date seat...).

I loath the old BA Club World cabin - although for a European route it would be absolutely fine - a huge improvement on the pseudo-Club cabin on the usual inter-European aircraft... The new BA Club cabin ( on the A350 ) is miles better for a long-haul jaunt. The sooner the whole fleet has it the better.

Thanks a lot! Seating facing backwards on an airplane does not make any difference at all to me. That's mainly because there is nothing to see outside and therefore you don't get sick. Apart from the take off and landing, you don't actually feel the difference.

I've never had the opportunity to fly business class. How far are the seats from the windows? Are they close in proximity enough to comfortably look out the window or no? Some of the biz class seats I've seen seem to be so far from the windows to get any decent views. Thanks in advance for your response. 😉

It depends on the aircraft and the seat configuration. Some 1-2-1 configurations have a table between the seat and the window and therefore you are slightly further away from the window. Other configurations have the seat straight against the window. Regardless of this you can always see outside, although sometimes you may be around 1m from the window

Not a bad flight. Food looked decent considering the pandemic and Do&Co catering is usually tasty. I agree with you ... the cabin layout s just messed up. I might perhaps want to look at Aegean flights. That said, I’m glad I don’t have to travel and probably won’t until the pandemic gets resolved. Thanks for your presentation.
