One thing I learned over the many years of being on this planet. You can never put a price on your time when you have a hobby. A hobby is priceless and the time you give to it is a way that you relax and unwind. So its what I call a labor of love. You are doing all the work because the hobby makes you happy. Good news for you is if you were to rebuild the table in England I am sure the cost would be substantially cheaper. I wish you luck in your endeavors to England and of course I will continue to follow your carnivorous plant journey to another part of the world. Good luck.

You wouldn't pay 1141 for a table like that you'd just make one even better for half the price haha . I Like your channel but still I have to put it out there that the table in question is worth a small fraction of the 1141 price tag in fact the materials required to make one only costing around 200 bucks . I feel bad for the guy that brought it , an irregardless of what you spent the fact is you could build one for much less , you had that guys pants down if you charged him 1141 dude . Then you try to justice the astronomical price tag with a long ass story witch mean very litte the fact is you paid a ridiculous price on materials and want your money back , thats kinda your fault man . Anyone could build one for a 20% of this crazy 1141 price tag , i just framed my shead base and wall plus roof for 1000 how can you say a table like that cost 1141 . You ripped him of cuz you need the money dude and you just lost a subscriber man

Fair go mate. Joel didn’t mention how much he sold it for. Just how much ot cost him. Also I think you missed the point that he has no tools and very little carpentry skills. How much do you think your shed structure would have cost if you had to pay a chippy to build it? Someone with experience and tools doesn’t come cheap. Joel paid for the learning experience and had a go the best way he could.

I assume it was in AU$, around US$750. Australia is an expensive country in my experience, and lots of stuff needs to be imported. In the US, lumber is quite cheap. Especially in the peak covid period, lumber prices were through the roof worldwide. I had to cancel projects myself due to the cost getting stupid high. Only now is it going down again.

He bought it for $300, and an additional $100 was the shipping cost. Just the roof and pond liner was almost $400. The cheapest drill I could find was $200, a pack of screws was $10-$20 (small ones and the cheapest ones) and I bought like 5 packs. And as the others have said, it was during covid like I mentioned, everything was extremely expensive. However, still pretty much the same price here in Australia. He got a good deal. And any basic carpenter would be charging around $50 an hour to build something like that too, so yes it’s all justified. You can find the prices for items at bunnings. Perhaps they’re the same, perhaps they’re less. But the prices I gave you were from receipts I had when I bought the supplies. Also, the guy messaged me this morning. He said that he is very happy with it. I tried to tell the story of the table, not a reason to justify something, but because I am working on my storytelling skills for my KZbin videos. I want to keep improving on my content which in my opinion it absolute garbage. I don’t want to show videos to people that is bad, which is why I try to improve it. The best way I improve, specifically storytelling, is by doing. And no, I don’t need the money. Like i said, I grew hundreds of plants with the table and had a lot of fun with them, the plants themselves got me any and all my money back. The table was an expense. Regardless, I’m a software developer, I earn enough. I don’t need more money. All you have shown is that you assume things quickly and that you are impulsive and quick to attack someone for your own ignorance. I usually don’t respond to hate comments but this is very unfair that you believe that I would screw someone over, especially over that fact that it was a table that I love/d and would do it all over again to learn, share with you guys and grow my plants again. I don’t appreciate your sny and rude comments.

Well spoken joey. I wanted to say a lot more but this is not the right platform for that. No one needs a subscriber with that mentality. Good riddance to him.

Yea they generally do fine as long as it’s stable, the weather here has been very hot and dry then cold and humid 2 days at a time for months on end. So they are confused haha

They are from the cape of south africa, hence the name, while it's not as hot as further up north in africa they are perfectly fine being in hot weather so long as their media doesn't dry up for a few days, these things grow like weeds for me here in australia and can tolerate months of hot weather with no hassle...
