I LOVE this warp. I just inherited a huge weaving studio and am looking forward to working through my grief as I remember and re-learn all things weaving. This rainbow dishtowel warp will definitely be one of the first projects I create when all of the cotton warp arrives. Thank you.

Trish I am loving your channel. I am on our sailboat in Belize this season BUT when I get home to Texas in late May I will begin my spinning "journey" with my new Kromski Castle wheel that I got 1 week before we left for our boat in Guatemala. Santa was sweet but cruel at the same time as I was not able to mess with my wheel, which I am a total newbie at. My husband felt sorry for me as he watched me card and hand spin my yarn....thus he bought me the wheel. So I have watched your spinning videos your dying videos and because I have a crappy heddle loom I watch your weaving videos. I am happy to be part of your tribe and I am counting the days to be back home to get on that WHEEL and start learning. Thanks for all you do for this community. I'll keep watching. Saundra on s/v Island Sol. ❤

This process was very influential on my current towel project. I had never double threaded my heddles before, but it turned out great. I used one of your previous towel weaving shows for my dimensions, etc. This is great info. I'm using a floor loom because that's what I've got, so I warp a little different.

Loved your funny moments in the beginning with Luther, I needed that laugh today! The pattern looks amazing, can't wait to see them finished!! And the first time I tried to warp my RH loom it took me 3 hours and I threw my back and neck out trying to fix a tension issue-- on top of all the sweating...inside...with the air conditioning on.🙄😆😆

Luther is a hoot! I laughed out loud, he is so cute! I really loved this video Trish, thank you for showing how you figure out your patterns, that was very informative! I’ll have to try the 8/2 from Great Northern but I really love Bluegrass Mills 6/2 cotton yarn from the Woolery for towels. I’ve used it with two heddles for a nice basket weave and it was the perfect thickness for me. I found that 8/4 cotton and the Sugar ‘n Cream are too thick for towels for me, I like them to have more drape and not such bulky hems. I can’t wait to see your finished towels!
@FiberLoveDiary3 жыл бұрын
I don't always figure out the patterns the same way, but that is how I did this one. Next time I'll show again if I do something different! Maybe I will try the 6/2 sometime. I have a bit of 8/2 to get through first 😂 Very early on, I did a little skinny towel(ish) thing with sugar and cream to figure out if I liked it. I use them to sit next to the sink when I handwash stuff. They're nice for that, but otherwise too thick for me too!
@lorainew42813 жыл бұрын
@@FiberLoveDiary That’s an excellent idea for the sugar n cream towels! 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻

I have mostly just used whatever graph paper we have lying around. John always has all different stuff, because he's in engineering, and they love their graph paper. I haven't really found one to be better than another, but I do like the big sheets of the thinner stuff I can see that tiny grid through.

I have a topic for Sunday’s Spin…. Silk for the newbies. I have dyed the brick and am trying to spin it (silk for the first time). I am using the small whorl on the Minstrel and trying to spin thin. I have to keep loosening the amount of pull because it pulls out of the draft easily. Any tips and tricks you can pass along? This warp of yours is so nice!

I love dish towels, too. I like the rainbow colors. Are you going to make a 'gamp' towel for color reference? I have been reading up on this to better understand the color interaction of warp and weft. I think I will do this in the fall with a stripey warp from the colors in my stash. How long was your warp, or how many towels will you get from this warp?

Very pretty Trish. What did you use for the weft? Looks like a few different colors. My granddaughter Kylie is coming at the end of the month for a week. I would like to start her weaving. Also, I am going to my local yarn/fiber store on Saturday for a Spin-In. I will bring my new Kiwi 3 and the owner says she will try to have someone there to show me the ropes. I carded the mill ends I got from you, so I have something to play with!!!

How hard is a double warp???? What are the do's and don't? I cannot imagine - but am willing to try but wondering... What is the difference between a double warp and using a double weft? Or using 8/4 yarn instead of 8/2?
@FiberLoveDiary3 жыл бұрын
I double the yarn, so it's just a whole loop through each slot and hole. Pretty easy. 8/4 would not be the exact same, but it might be what you like. You can do whatever you want, this is just the way I like it
@tamileslie15693 жыл бұрын
Question for you Trisha...My Ashford RHL is only 16”. Do you think the warping bar (which is AWESOME LOOKING!!) would be super beneficial for me or best for people with the wider looms. Yours looks like 32”? I’ve not had trouble so far with tension of my warps but then I’ve only warped and completed 3 projects. 😁 You seem like the kind of person who will give me an honest answer not just based on making a sale. I value your opinion AND LOVE your videos!! Thank you! Can’t wait to try out dish towels...soon!

I absolutely love your pattern 🥰Now a few questions. Aren’t you on EDST not CDST? We’re you using 2 threads per hole? Was your weft all black?

Yes, omg, John told me I messed up my time zone AGAIN. I can't even believe it! Yes, two threads per hour and slot. I'm changing the weft, but I like the plain black the best.
