In this video we go over a brand new mage mara 1 pull strategy!! This is going to be the same strategy as before, but with some minor tweaks which allow for the slimes to NOT RESET!!!!! This results in an amazing kill count, and in the video we have a 191 kill count, but we range anywhere between 177 and 194 mob kill count. This results in a much higher xp/hour rate for the boostees and more gold for the boosters! This is going to be a major update to the mage mara 1 pull strategy, and I hope this helps you all with those frustrating slimes and borers!

Thanks for the videos. Just played around with this a bit and I like it. One thing that I found to make the timing coming out of the side room a little less close is to do a half blizzard instead of a full blizzard as the mobs are coming down the ramp and to not frostbolt the tree guy at the bottom. If you do half blizzard there and no frostbolt, you can do the side room the same as before (frostbolt, frostbolt, counterspell) and come out in time with a little room for error. The tree guy at the bottom of the ramp gets picked up when you go back into that room. Fall off the ledge, blink through him onto the root and do all the normal stuff. Then when you are doing your recommended half blizzard for the mobs coming down the ramp, you fireblast the tree guy in front of you and counterspell the guy behind you as you run up the ramp. Made things quite a bit easier I thought.

Yeah i agree, its a close call coming out of that room, a little bit more error space would be nice, like beeing a bit to far out of fireblast range or stuff, i you wait a second to long 100 mobs will be on you and panic comes.

i like your tutorials, ty My english skill is relatively bad, I use google translator: I understood, the problem is that when creeping slimes comes out of the combat, they pull along some of the borers, noxious slimes and tanglers. If they are respawn very far, they just stop and disappear, if they do not take damage, the tanglers just try to go back. Possibly the use of a cone of cold, frost and explosions for slimes also partially prevents their escape. But when the main group is far enough away from the creeping slimes, mobs don't back down (it's true, you can check, сreeping slimes out of the combat when you jumping ~7:22 in video)

The addon he uses is the Details! damage meter. It has a built in window that tracks kill counts. If you're looking at the details window, scroll to the 3rd icon from the left (the little sword), click damage, then click frags. That will show you exactly what Arlaeus has here.

I randomly figured out a different way to get the borers moving if you end up having your blink on cooldown or want to save the little bit of mana. Just jump in the area where you blink at.

How consistent is this? I remember trying not to reset slimes with both the blizzards you use / also waiting for them after the loop, usually lost them on the root (1st loop) in any case. I guess the sludges are the key, from my perspective at least.

Its not, expect 150-175 consistently with the occesional lucky 185+, been doing this run for a couple weeks, the slimes are just random, regardless of how slow you go, theres 3 hard slime reset spots in the run, so far ive not found a truely consistent way of dodging resets on these spots, i know one thing for sure though, it has nothing to do with interaction with the mobs. Ive had mobs reset 5seconds after pulling them.

I followed this and got my first successful (ish) clear! I ran back through to check the damage and had a LOT of resets. A couple treants (I may have just missed those honestly) but nearly every slime pack reset, at least 2 bramblers, and 2 packs of borers (OOF!) I'm not a gnome but I did the ice block thing just to follow along. Hopefully it is something I can correct as I learn, but this does seem to be the best path I've personally seen (love that you grab the trees after the 2nd jump and don't have to go back around, that always seemed dangerous to me.) Any pro tips to share that the video may have not covered?

I've been doing similar run but not taking the drill borers, you miss out a few non-elites and instead don't have to start from the mara portal, just run through the purple side and start the pull by the slow slimes. Learned that from Zeegers a couple of months ago and it's a solid 12min run that keeps all the slimes. The only difference is I'm using Barov's peasant caller to pull the mobs you threw the iron grenade at.

50+ nature resist, keep both ice barrier and mana shield up and use a regular nature resist potion for sloppier runs (the potion helps A LOT for pushback)

Isn’t it funny that all the one pull mages that do this have their own little adaptations of this pull. I have been running a very similar run to this, I consistently hit 10:30 runs without a mistake. My hands now feel like they want to fall off though. Great vid man!

ive done alot of these runs, and i get slimes mabie 75% of the time, the biggest reset for them is the inital first jump down, and i find that your nova timing before jumping down usually makes the difference(corner at 7:15), you always want to nova as soon as possible as your turning the corner they are at, on my runs i find either some trees will reset that you can repull on your next loop thru or your slimes will, but consistantly its more like 170+. you know if you got slimes or not because youll see them dissapear right infront of your eyes right after your blizzard on your jump down

If anyone was wondering, I figured out this problem. If you aggro the treant before running up the small ramp( while still down in the water ) he will reset when you run up the ramp. If you pull him once you are out, like in this video, he never resets.

Don’t give up on it. It gets easier... the three big keys for me was taking wide turns during the pull, making the jump down and back up during the kill phase, and figuring out how to put my blizzards down properly during the kill phase.

The addon is called KillTrack. I would not recommend getting the addon if you dont average around 300fps. I've noticed when I have the addon enabled, it cuts my frames in half or by about 60% when I'm doing my mara pulls.

the distance you are away from the mobs comes into play when it determines if they're going to reset or not. when you jump down from that spot, they can't follow so their pathing logic tells them they're VERY far away -- as far as they're concerned they have to go all the way around. it's the furthest distance away they ever get during the run, even though it seems like they're close to you. my recommendation is to group them up well in the previous room, then let them get as close as you can before you jump down. i am going to work on a strat tomorrow to see if I can consistently keep them from resetting by avoiding that jump down or extending it somehow.

No, you use Scepter of Celebras to enter. Once through the first waterfall, turn right and follow it up the ramp. At 60, stick to the walls and you wont aggro any hydras.

I went back to see what i missed, basically 2 borer packs, 2 slimes packs and the sludges.. So i decided to test with pulling them again in otherwise cleared instances.. same as ppl 7:23 they dissapear even tho they got hit 2sec before they dissapear. This was me only pulling those packs that reset, so i was handling them as well as i ya can. So im considering either i blizz to far to the right, or pathing gets fucked on some mob when u jump down. I randomly get 195 mobs even tho i dont pull any extra slimes other than the regular ones as well.

There is a weak aura to show your instance lockouts. It can be a bit buggy but its very helpful for the most part. Ask around on your server/guild if anyone has it.

Its gonna vary per server, I dont think Arlaeus provides that service in particular, but on my server, a mara boost goes for 10-12 g per person! People often do deals, 12g per run, or 5 for 50g, things like that. Good luck!

I have a question regarding your talent build, they all seem to have 5/5 in Ice Shards - why is that? Blizzard never crits right, so why is this worth 5 talent points? Hey! I'm not Arlaeus (duh) but I think I can answer it for you. There's 2 reasons. The first and main reason is, that without those extra points you can't get Ice Barrier as you need 30 points in frost talents to get access to it and the only 2 things at this stage that you can put points into is Frostbite which is trash for aoe as it breaks up the pack with random freezing or Winter's Chill which is just simply not worth the points for aoe. Reason 2 is that you will still do quests and if you play on a pvp server you will pvp and 100% crit damage is just too good to pass up. You could put points into improved frostbolt but again, in the grand scheme of things it's a waste of points because double crit damage is just too damn good. Hope this helped! :)

KillTrack. To get that little window just type /kt immediate. It only shows killing blows so if you have a mage in your group getting boosted and they help with blizzards, it wont be accurate

you can make equal money to mara in zg without even boosting people just off of the bijous and coins alone. My server charges 15g per zg run so you will be making about 500g every lockout as long as you get a bit lucky on bijou drops.

@@mald34 if you get 3 to 5 bijous per lockout, that 9 to 15 extra gold x 5 which is 45 to 75 extra gold per hour. And you can also get greens which will add probably 20g AT MOST. Optimal group is 3 low levels at 15 to 20g a run. So most you can expect on my server is 400g per hour, but its most likely around 300g per hour, especially getting unlucky with summons, horde outside, etc

And how do mobs react so quiicly to your blizz? It's like 1.5sec, sometimes more for me.

I pre-blizz there's still the standard 1 second before blizzard ticks which is how the spell's designed.

it may be ever so slightly out of sync. i tried to splice it as best as possible, but i had audacity running over the twitch video so I had to time them together when I merged it based on my mouth movement lol
