Welcome to SG! Just to share some tips: 1. Look out for the “PCN” signs and arrows on the road… it means Park Connector and usually guides you to nicer paths. 2. Just beside the roads you were cycling at ard 18mins mark, there’s a hidden Green Corridor (converted from our old railway track) parallel to it… best hidden gem in SG for cyclists. Try it next time! 3. Get some fresh orange juice from juicing machines for just $2 if you come across one… really refreshing during a ride on a hot day. Stay safe on the roads and have fun! 😉

That was such a lovely insight into what riding around Singapore feels like fo people like me who have never been there. You can definitely tell that it is a pretty wealthy state, where the creation and upkeep of public infrastructure operates on a comfortable budget. As for the 150km in a day, your legs are going to take a a beating with that ! Look forwards to your next ride .

I watched these out of order, so I didn't see the first one yet. I have to say, that for watching a video that had almost no Thuong dialogue, that I still found it incredibly enjoying to listen to. I mostly had it on in the background, so I can hear it, but don't always see it. I've probably mentioned it before, but I just have to say it again. It's just so refreshing to watch something so upbeat and considerate. Ever since I got more into cycling, it's funny just how confrontational people can be. So it's nice to hear others talk about being considerate around pedestrians or just riding extra safe. And then also the positive comments towards ebikes vs gas scooters for delivery. This channel is quickly becoming one of my feel-good KZbin watches. That is to say, don't ever feel pressured to be extra positive based on my random comment. Keep being you, I enjoy the random rants too. ^.^ --- The bird sound mimics was the highlight of the video. I don't know anything about those birds, but I thought it was funny. Keep up the good work!
@TwoWheelCruise2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind comments! It is usually me doing most of the talking on the longer cycling videos since it is difficult to maintain a conversation with Thuong while cycling and she does not understand everything I am saying. We are trying to at least get her to speak her opinion on certain things whenever there is a good chance, which also helps practice her English. I try to be as neutral and honest as possible, so I will point out negative things or things that bother me, but I try to keep a positive perspective overall.

Wow!! Singapore looks absolutely fabulous. As I mentioned in your previous video . . . clean! In the whole ride, I didn't as much as see a candy wrapper. I'm definitely going to Singapore. Those that live there have to be very proud of their country. I'm so impressed. The only thing that would concern my while riding, is some of the narrow paths you were on. Other than that, It's a winner of a location. I honestly can't wait to head out there one day. Great video. Looking forward to your next installment.
@TwoWheelCruise2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is definitely worth visiting! Those narrow paths are basically as bad as it gets and most places are better. We were intentionally trying to ride away from the main paths to see how the other roads are and were still really impressed. The no garbage anywhere was also really nice to see.
@mar_man8132 жыл бұрын
It's a beautifully clean place and I've loved every trip. You also have to realize that it's so clean and perfect because it's still an authoritarian government -- there are legal restrictions on freedom of speech and the press that the rest of us in the US and EU take for granted. You gain some quality, lose some in other places.

@@TwoWheelCruise oh haha why not u guys get married and she can be American 😂😂
@nauscakes18682 жыл бұрын
@@gabrielng3449 I thought they were married, or atleast I thought I heard them mention it at one point. I do know that just being married doesn't make her a citizen though. I'm an American dating a woman from Eastern Europe, and even if we got married, we would need to maintain a healthy relationship for 3 years before she could even apply for US citizenship. So even if Thuong could become an American citizen, there's still a lot to unpack with that. Some countries make you revoke your previous citizenship to get the new country's. I think Japan is like that. Like you literally can't be both a Japanese citizen and a citizen of another country. Additionally, some people are just really passionate and connected with their home country, and even if it would benefit them to switch citizenship--they just don't want to. I also though (I could be way wrong), that America likes to tax citizens more. So there's that to consider too. Suffice to say, it is complicated!

Another cool route to try is the Rail Corridor. It's the former KTM Malaysia-Singapore rail line that has now been repurposed into a long uninterrupted PCN path from Tanjong Pagar down south to Bukit Timah towards the west. Historic landmarks, greenery and a bit of gravel. The path does continue north but after the Hillview area but a lot of it is under redevelopment, and whatever is open is just desolate gravel in disrepair, occasionally disrupted where level crossings used to be. Fun on a gravel bike, but probably not that pleasant on folding bikes. Alternatively, if you're feeling adventurous, the Bukit Timah area is where you'll find some mountain bike trails.

A few hours ago it occurred to me that I should mention to you that you have to go to Marina; what an amazing place to be on such a fun bike in such a charming city for bikes. I haven’t followed your other videos yet but I do hope you go to other cities like New York which has been transformed into a bike friendly city in the last 20 years, Amsterdam and others…I was one of the very early Brompton riders in New York City around 2000; one of my first rides traveled under the world trade center two days before 911. I ended up getting a larger chain ring and was definitely an anomaly someone on a strange looking folder but able to rcruise alongside New York City buses at times thru Times Square and in central park. It’s an impressive bike, better thought out and design than other folding bikes today.I always advise to get a rearview mirror!

Too bad the park connector is broken or you could've gone up through Alexandra pcn to mbs. It would take you through Clarke Quay too. That's probably the northern route they wanted you to take. Should've just followed the gravel path to the exit ramp. By west coast we'd normally just use the road, it's just much easier. At 8:00 yeah, should've turned down. That's a badminton court, I don't think any of us really know what hackey sack is. Round island is 150-170km if you go to lampost 1 depending on where you stay but 40km shorter if you don't. I usually ride a mountain bike because I like taking shortcuts across pavement and sometimes dirt. Also, some places have massive potholes, they get patched really quick which is good but it also means you cannot memorise where they are since new ones just appear, using a 140mm full sus means it doesn't hurt even if I accidentally hit one. But for long rides above 60km I now use a road bike to save time. And also to stop wearing out my last gear. It's so weird seeing KZbinrs so near where I stay.

Surprised they allow bicycles on all the pedestrian paths. I can imagine it can be inconvenient for pedestrians once it is more crowded and cyclists are not as careful as you.

I believe they expand or separate the paths with more traffic

Dude cycling side by side with those large trailer vehicles is suicidal please don't do that. There are already a few fatal accidents with large vehicles in the past few months in Singapore

Definitely better safe than sorry. Thankfully this doesn't seem to be common in Singapore.

@@TwoWheelCruise just remember do not put smart phone on your Jersey back pocket or mounting on the handlebar if you comeback to Vietnam, especially when you ride your bike in the big city like Hanoi. or if you need look phone for navigation you can use like a frame bag with cover made for android so theft cannot grab your phone. it make phone really hot during day but rather we lose our phone, sometime i put small icy bottle wrap with a towel to make my phone cooler inside the frame bag. the theft targeting smart phone because it easy to sell
