"Daechwita" is music was performed by kings or noblemen during military marches or when the army won the war, only the military was allowed to play it at the time. the MV and the song is a metaphor for BTS and ARMY. In his lyrics "born a slave but now a king" Slaves in "Joseon" were almost completely blocked off from advancing to higher classes. They were not even considered human. They would be traded, in cases where their owners didn't have enough money, and they were thought of more as just things. BTS faced heavy discrimination due to them being from a small company, and they were mistreated. So it's easy to understand why Suga called himself a slave here. And if you look at the historical references in this song, it'll blow ur mind at how clever this all is. For a slave to become a king is basically impossible, but Suga is saying he made it by referenced "Gwanghae" in his lyrics, the King of Joseon dynasty, in the 17th century he had a very roller coaster of a life, originally he was a war hero defending Joseon against the Japanese one of the biggest wars in Korean history. and this struggle eventually made Gwanghae go paranoid and become violent and reckless. Ultimately, he was dethroned, after a coup. I think Suga somewhat relates to Gwanghae as he himself had been through a tough adolescence having to go out into the battlefield at an early age, Just like Gwanghae did. and there were movements to throne him as the King, instead of his father. The father felt threatened by this, so he made a lot of political efforts to stop Gwanghae from gaining influence. Eventually, Gwanghae became stuck between two large political powers, His father who was then King had fled when the war broke out, and the 18 year old Prince Gwanghae, led Joseon troops on the battlefield. Rarely, at this time did kings or to-be Kings go out into the battlefield themselves, so Gwanghae fighting with the people won their heart over. "Shove the past into a rice chest" , to the tragic story of Sadoseja, which involves him dying in a rice chest. U can read it en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crown_Prince_Sado here Suga has been pretty open about his mental health issues facing "depression" he had when he was growing up, and he relates to Sadoseja. He sees himself in him. He says he's putting his past in the rice chest. It's a declaration that he's putting the old, troubled Suga, Eventually Now, looking at what's ahead of him. In the second verse, Suga focuses more on how he's now on the throne, and he's better than everybody else. There's a lot morree of blowing mind lyrics and references in this song. And last but not least thank u 4 ur reaction I love how u break the words 🐺🤍 If u want to react for solo I recommend 4 u Lie by jimin First love by suga Euphoria by Jungkook And I really want u 2 react 2 Tony Montana by Suga ft Jimin kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6GZgHiwid6Gb5I Wolllfff baccckk leetts Gooooo 🐺😂🤍

He also has a music video for his title song and I think you’ll like it too as a fellow rap fan. So glad you're doing this song! The two guys fighting in the back are Jin and Jungkook. Yoongi is said to be the youngest relative of the last Queen, this song references that. He grew up very poor even though there's that, he grew up in the ghetto of Daegu and left home at 15 because his parents didn't want to support his rap. He at times had to decide between a bus ride back to where he was staying or a cup of ramen. The King references have to do with his hold Agust D and how he's grown and is coming to take the thrown as his newest/most real iteration to date. The picture that he holds up was drawn by Jungkook and is up PD Hitman Bang. The car is also a reference to his first Agust D videos. There's a lot that throws to BTS in this video. For solos, check out Airplane (J-Hope's original song) and Chicken Noodle Soup, Euphoria and My Time by Jungkook, Serendipity and Lie by Jimin, Awake and Epiphany by Jin, Stigma by V, and Do You or Joke by RM. Can't wait what's next!
@em55223 жыл бұрын
It's not that he's the youngest relative, it's that he's one of the descendants from the same clan, the Yeoheung Min clan, which has produced 3 Korean queens. He's stated that he's a direct descendant from one in the high ranks of that line.

He got a lot of hate and humilliations from other rappers. Most of them made fun of him and the rapper line of BTS for being part of a boyband. When you came from the bottom and others treat you like you are worth nothing is easy to become full of anger and i think that happened with Suga at the beginning. The ruthless king, which is actually a prince (the dragon on his hanbok only has 4 fingers) is the old Suga, a full of anger and rage one. The two characters are one, it is a sort of internal battle. At the end, the Suga with the support of BTS (6 guys that are with him) and Army (the woman that gave him the key and the colt army) won the battle. Is like he overcame his anger, got rid of his more ruthless self and keep moving. Actually his 2nd mixtape seems to show a more mature and carefree Suga, he remember the past but is no longer trapped by that.
@Sloan81233 жыл бұрын
I love your reactions because you seem genuinely interested in the lyrics (no matter what language) and message of BTS. Yay! I’m so happy you did this one. Suga wrote, produced, had influence over this music video like having it set in a historical setting, etc. If you watch the old Agust D music videos, from 2016, you’ll see that Agust D is blonde. Suga explained that blonde Agust D represents rage and he talks about how he had so much anger back then, when he made his first mixtape. He further explains that Blonde Agust D became a tyrant and in the end we see the black haired Agust D kill him. Suga said that the black hair Agust D also represents something, but he didn’t say what. There’s a explanation video for this song which is really interesting as well.

Someone asked me to, so I want to explain a little about Yoongi's family lineage: There's some misconception that Yoongi is directly descended from Korean royalty, but it's more accurate to say that he's actually from the clan that produced 3 Korean queens (one of whom is the mother of King Sejong, probably the most celebrated king in Korean history--no joke, this guy left a great and lasting legacy, one of which is creating and establishing the Hangul alphabet used today). Yoongi mentioned in a birthday vlive that he was related to the Yeoheung Min clan, a very prominent family clan (but not a royal one) during the Joseon Dynasty, which is also the only major "Min" [閔] lineage in Korea (so, it can be argued that any "Min" in Korea is descended from this clan--we don't know unless they check tho). But it's unlikely that Yoongi is related to the royal line bc he retained the "Min" name (閔玧其-Min Yunki), which is inherited from one's father, meaning the emperor would not take his mother's family name, and so, could not pass down the "Min" name to his descendants. And to clarify, the last ruling family of Korea is the House of Yi [李] (particularly from the Jeonju Yi clan), which is also the clan King Sejong, above, belongs to, so those from that clan would have a stronger claim to the throne if it still existed.

There's a video by DKDTV that also breaks this song down and points out things missed. There's also a behind the scenes where Suga talks about some of the meaning, and shows that he learned with sword dance scene in 2 days. This song is a masterpiece in my book. I love all the guys in BTS but RM is my bias. He has so many songs that are great also, and different styles. I think Joke is at the top because it gives me some of the same feels as Daechwita but you'll need to watch the video made by a fan because the original MV has no English subtitles. RM's other songs like Persona, Do you, Change w/Wale, Moonchild... Oh so many songs that I love. The one I discovered more recently was a song called Umbrella that he did with Yuiko. Thank you for your reactions, I always like watching your BTS videos. (Sorry for such a long comment 😁)💜

I enjoy all of your reactions so far! Keep them coming… I’ll keep joining in on the fun too! Your analysis is excellent and makes me rethink things I have thought … wonderful stuff! I love all the rappers! They are each unique and awesome in their own way and yet they can be miracles together! I love their different styles and they have drawn me into their flow so easily. I love each of the vocalists as well for exactly the same reason! They are all so talented in different ways and yet together they are still more amazing!

He is not only songwriter and composer, but also producer of this song. And credited for keyboard and synthesizer. He was also behind the concept of MV

Suga is a true genius and this song did not disappoint. To get a flavor of the Rap Line, listen to BTS Cyphers 1-4. It's a long video but OMG are they great. You can also break them down and do one at a time. All three rappers are on all 1-4 and they also have solo projects they've done.

My favourite RM's solo is "Do you", from his first mixtape 👌🏼. Then, you'll find songs where he doesn't rap but sing. And for BTS he has 3: Reflection (sings, a quite sad and healing song), Love (reflection about love, a happy one) and Persona (a powerful one).

Suga has two solo albums: Agust D (2016) and D-2 (2020). The lyrics are insane! React to them.

Those of us who are watching you sequentially have been waiting for the day you would see Daechwita. I hope you've watched an explanation of Daechwita - because then your commentary would be much different.

Hello! New subscriber here 🙋♀️ let me just say that I enjoy your BTS reactions so far! You're funny esp in this video lol! We both have the same reactions and I'm glad you love Daechwita. At one point SUGA said he wasn't particulary referring to someone in the lyrics but if they got offended then It's not his problem and that he also put traps in his songs which he talked about in his live in 2020. All rappers and BTS are amazing! I just wish people would be more open minded with kpop/k-rap because they missin out. A LOT! 💜

Don’t know if someone’s already posted. But in Korea it’s kind of known that some rappers push for this macho inage, doing drugs, have a lot of women and flexing wealth and sht like that cause that’s what they think “hiphop culture” is and when he says you’re just a pill popper and you just got no skills it’s basically him dissing all those rappers. The bts rapline has huge respect for hiphop and understand that it’s beyond that stereotype. If you wanna understand more about how influenced they were by hiphop I recommend you listen to/watch one of their earliest songs: HipHop Phile (also known as Hip Hop Lover). The rapline basically details who they are influenced by and their love for hiphop.

God, I love your reactions. I’m learning so much from them. I feel comfortable analyzing the visual, narrative and musical elements in BTS videos, but I’m older, and rap is less familiar to me. I love how you break down the lyrics and pick up the rhythmic changes within the piece (reminds me of studying poetry). Can’t wait for the next one!
