I'd love to see more PZ lenses in the future. The idea of controlling the zoom via the app seems really practical to me

When I saw this lens announced, i immediately knew I wanted it. I’ve heard a lot of ppl complain about it being an f4 but for video work, that f4 aperture is perfectly fine for me. I always wanted the Sony version of this lens but the optics in it were not the best, and that’s one area that I know Nikon will not disappoint in

Seems like a fun lens. To have zoom control on your camera as it's mounted in a remote location could be great for film use, particularly on a crane or aerial slide. I have questions about focus breathing on such a design because most of the coping mechanisms to keep that constant aperture make correcting that issue even more complex. Im also interested in seeing if the "T-stop" is constant. Its typical for transmission efficiency to drop with near focus.

@@OriginalWatchcow we’ll have to see. I wonder how long until launch. They have a picture of it but it “in development” I bet some folks already have one. Haha

I video only a little bit. If my dedicated video camera dies, then it would be a big step up to get this lens to replace that old RX10 iv.

I had stated in 2023 that Nikon would edge into cine lenses based on their earlier statement about focusing on high end cameras. Then the acquisition of Red occurred which pretty much sealed the deal on cine development. More lenses to come, and better yet, improvements in focusing and camera capabilities. Yay Nikon! Good video Zack. Love the humor and content. You are Going places! 😂

Has anyone confirmed if this isn’t actually the Sony lens in a Nikon case? It’s shockingly similar to Sony’s lens.
@ZWadePhoto5 күн бұрын
@@Jviotr I’m not sure. Nikon states “in development” I wouldn’t imagine they would 100% rip off a Sony lens though.

The 28-135mm is a real no brainer for me. This is a shut up and take my money lens. Video focused, internal zoom, fixed F4, yes please! Drop this on a newer Z-body (mine will go on a Z9) and mount it on a gimbal, tripod optional. DJI active subject track, composition done from the app on your phone. Slam dunk talking head and B-roll. Get the video head out and drive it yourself for subjects. Wait.. what about that 2X you get for free on the Z9!! Yeah... winner winner, chicken dinner. If you can map the PZ AND that zoom...

@@ZWadePhoto I'm feeling the $3K price point. Which, if you consider the versatility of it, then for me, worth it. And photography uses.. yeah.. excited for that too.

Well a new lens. Instead of that people shoudn't forget to focus on their photo editing software and their hardware. Still running lightroom 2.0 on windows XP and a pentium? Time to upgrade right?

@Ton-x4r i agree. Shooting and processing is vastly more important than feature sets in cameras

I always regretted getting the 24-120 over the second 24-70. A 24-120 PZ would have been preferred but I still want one. Now I have an excuse to get a new lens ...🦘
