IDK if it gets mentioned later but in case it doesn't, the way ffxiv reuses models is often by making versions dyeable. Normal raid (casual content) gear is undyeable, and then the savage versions will be the same gear but you can dye it. Usually raid weapons are savage only. Savage gear (and the vast majority of gear in the game) is nowhere near as over the top as these, the only things in the game that are like this are these and the relic weapons (long ish casual grind depending on which expac). Endwalker has kind of broken that trend though, with the savage gearset from especially the second tier being pretty crazy.

@vbarreiro Жыл бұрын
@@JustRussAlso very worth noting, that since you can dye every dyable weapon and dyable armor with the same dyes, it is actually incredibly easy to make anything look like it goes with anything else. There are some exceptions, but 9/10 times you can get five pieces from five different armors and make them look like they were made from each other And that is about to get better because in the next expansion they’re releasing a second dye slot for all armor, meaning that if, say, the only reason you couldn’t make this piece of armor look good with that other is because one has gold highlights and the other silver, that too will now be a non-issue anymore And the best part is that, again, every dyable weapon can use every dye, so forget about having to farm a specific version of a raid to get a specific color weapon

4:54 In FF, if you sync down higher ilvl gear, the sockets are outright disabled. Depending on the fight, it's sometimes still better to scale down rather than use ilvl appropriate gear, but aside from the Stormblood ultimates, the difference is very marginal. Like fractions of a percent.
@maxmustermann3938 Жыл бұрын
what you do is just combine a bunch of gear to make a set with the perfect substats that is synced down. But yes, the difference is negligible, even in UwU.

Whilst the ultimate weapons do reperesent the the most prestigious weapons a player can get, the relic weapons available at the end of each expansion are also some truly outstanding looking weapons and are available with considerably less effort if a little more grinding. It varies from relic to relic on how grindy they are, and there are only relics available for jobs that were released when those relics went live. For example, there is no Dark Knight ARR relic, but there is a Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers and Endwalker ones. Sage and Reaper only have Endwalker relics being the newest jobs. Each relic grind will feature somewhere between 4 and 8 different weapons with different levels of glowyness. Thankfully, you can buy each of these weapons as a cosmetic and pop them in your glamour dresser to use as you see fit. ARR relics are pretty straightforward barring the one step where you need to complete certain FATES (open world events) to complete books you need for one of the steps. Otherwise pretty straightforward. HW relics are by far the easiest, simply a case of using currency and time. If you do a little prep before starting on one of these you can easily knock out an entire HW relic in a night or two. Stormblood relics are obtained from a seperate zone called Eureka. I've not had much experience with Eureka, though I understand it's pretty easy as long as you have a group of people to go along with, as well as containing some interesting raid encounters and whatnot. Really should put some time into this at some point. Shadowbringers relics are much the same as Stormblood, with a seperate zone called Bozja in which to earn your mighty weapons. Again, lotta fun with a posse, some cool raid fights and a decent story in this one as well. Again, I've not spent enough time there to give a full overview, but its a pretty good time from what I know. The Endwalker relics are strictly a currency sink which makes them very easy to get, though a little time consuming. They're also tied to one of the funnier quest lines in the game, which I'm sure you'll see on your way through the story. Kind Regards, Isa.

Ultimate raids are FFXIV's most difficult content, and reward only these cosmetic weapons and a title - so they better be good! But these raids are 20 minute boss rushes based on a "what-if" retelling of the raid/MSQ stories that they are themed around. If you wipe, you start at the beginning and go again. It's challenging, can be exhausting, but omg the adrenaline! Thanks for the video

about the sheathed looks, there are ways to get around having it sheathed and still have the effects going full blast. all it takes a short two step macro. its a temporary thing but if you are running around with a sheathed weapon for long periods of time like running around a city, you can still show off the glow.

if you want to do ultimates while progressing in difficulty i recommend doing UWU > UCOB > TEA > DSR > TOP ultimates definitely change your mindset and teach you many things that can be taken into the next ultimate also i dont know if anyone mentioned this to you, but ultimate raids' in-game lore are retelling of major story points, basically a "what if this villian or boss managed to get their way?" so you fight them in an even more powered up state. its very cool!

@charnotaurus2665 Жыл бұрын
@@JustRuss Unironically? They're not hard to organize on bigger DC's. OCE is a whole other (tiny) beast, but if we can do it, y'all can do it I'm sure LOL. Speaking as someone who came over from wow as well, think of them like mythic raids BUT if mythic raids were more of a step by step dance rather then straight dps/heal checks with mechanics thrown in. Like... YES there's mit plans and stuff because ofc there is, but every mechanic that goes out is predictable once you understand how it works. Half the challenge in an ultimate is learning HOW to do the fight, not doing it. It's always going to be resolved the same way so all you have to know is "how do I do this part". It's a one step at a time process, and as you get more comfortable with the fights you'll find yourself not even thinking and just straight up flying on auto pilot and getting REALLY good at mechanics that force you to be flexible. Genuinely my favourite content in the game because its so punishing and fun. Speedran a friend up recently cotanking with them and cleared UCOB in OCE PF in like... 27 days? Which is REALLY FAST when you consider the nature of having 6 other random people in your party. Edit: also best way I can describe ultimates is theyre like... the equivalent of challenge mode weapons. Except instead of being removed (and being dungeon content instead of raid content), the game scales you down to the level the ultimate was released at. So you're ALWAYS gonna do UWU/UCOB at 70, TEA at 80, and DSR/TOP at 90. Buffs and nerfs and straight up job changes have made them easier over time but it's not something you can just walk in and bully no matter how many people will tell you "oh UWU is easy". Compared to other ultimates? Absolutely it is. But for someones first ultimate, the speed and pacing WILL get you on the backfoot as you learn and that's okay! tldr. They're like wow challenge modes that never go away and people do just for fun/to help others. Purely cosmetic and a flex.

One thing I've come to appreciate about FF14 over virtually _any_ other long-term game (WoW, Warframe, Destiny) is the balance they manage between keeping content relevant and accessible, while respecting the lives of the people playing the game. I think a big reason why the FF14 community is less toxic is because people aren't nearly as stressed about weaker players slowing down the progress of an already daunting grind. If I want good gear, crafting, raiding and tomestone farming are all equally viable. If I want to experience the story, then normal modes of raids can be easily done with a PUG. Rep grinds are pretty casual, and mostly give cosmetic rewards, keeping them eternally relevant. The newest cosmetics/mounts are skill locked, but not forever; eventually moogle tomestone events or unsynched farming can give people an alternative way of getting those rewards. The Ultimate Weapons will always be a status symbol. There's so much to do, even if you never want to do an Extreme Trial, Savage Raid, or Ultimate content. No endgame rush, no wall between veterans and newbies. And if a content drought means I get to play a different game for a while without FOMO or burnout, then that's fine by me. :)

Edit2: We actually have something like Mythic mounts. There's a special mount that drops from most final bosses of a savage raid tier (the exceptions being Coils and Midas Savage). The Extreme versions of boss fights can also drop mounts (the exceptions being Ultima's Bane, Thornmarch EX, and Memoria Misera EX)

All ultimates are 100% doable, i personally enjoy it most in a static but i know of enough people that also just do a lot of them in pf. Esp Top and UWU. Those WoW weapons at the start. We have something like that. Relic weapons are weapons you evolve and for a time retain the same appearance but with a different style of glow or weapon recolor. The ARR relics have the longest train of retaining the same model, but the rest are similar for like two or three steps. All are completely dissimilar models by the end of the process. The UWU and TEA weapons actually use the models from...well, UWU is based on lv 50 content, so an ARR relic model is used, and TEA is based on lv 60 content, so uses an HW relic model. Just with glows reflective of the raid.

Relic weapons look totally different, they're usually end-of-expansion grinds to fill the downtime before the new expansion. Anyone can get them, but they take a while. They're normally 3-4 different models at the different 'stages' of upgrading them, each with a sfx and non-sfx version
@Xaivius Жыл бұрын
@@JustRussRelics are a long-term grind usually introduced midway through the expansion, with 4-8 steps usually involving older content and/or special endgame zones, and having benefits like customizable stats and bonuses for side content, as well as generally capping out at the same ilvl as the top tier raid weapon. When relevant, most final-tier relics represent upwards of 30 days of grinding, current expansion excepted. The Ultimate series models generally take the final base model relic of the respective expansion and class, and modify both the model and particle effects with theming from the unltimate fight they drop from. It's a really neat homage as the ultimate fights can require a similar grind. For a bit more context, 'Artifact Armor' (AF) is the general term used for the endgame 'identity' sets for each job, usually being themed after classic FF job designs or new ideas the devs and artists came up with. These sets are usually given or made available at or just before level cap for ea h expansion. Sometimes these sets get upgrades alongside the relic weapons, the Stormblood AF armor is a perennial favorite for having neat aetheric glowing parts that are rather striking while still being tactful.

Yoshi P has said before something along the lines of “don’t force yourself to stay, if you need a break take one, we(ffxiv) will be here when your ready to come back” And it honestly shows, yes there are some stuff that’s daily or weekly, but that’s side content or simply “you did the newest raids and got rewards, wait until Tuesday reset to claim more” deals, they don’t take away from story and honestly unless your gunning for the absolute best gear you can get with each new patch (which comes from raids and extremes) you don’t even need to stress about it. I stopped playing for three months only getting on for my house timer reset, recently decided to start playing more actively again and I don’t feel like I’ve missed anything, I just need to work my way up to date on MSQ and even that I’m just taking at my own pace without stressing.

So the max level is 90, there are 5 ultimates, 2 at level 70, 1 at 80, and 2 at 90. If you are 90 and go back to an older ultimate, your level *will* be scaled down and it will still take a lot to learn the mechanics and get over the mechanical difficulty, but with the way jobs have been rebalanced and reworked over the years, the DPS checks for ultimates before 90 aren't nearly as bad as they used to be. But yes the mechanical difficulty is still there. (I haven't finished the video yet) As chat (probably) stated : Jobs that were released *after* specific ultimates came out have not received a weapon for those ultimate. For example, Gunbreaker came out in Shadowbringers, so it doesn't have UWU/UCOB weapons since they came out in the expansion prior. SE said they might look into making weapons from older ultimates for newer jobs, but nothing concrete yet.

The whole rant about WoW watering-down the unique rewards etc really hits home for me as a Destiny player. D2 has always struggled (if not mostly failed) with how to handle prestigious gear and rewards. Launching the game with the 'end-game' gear looking nice, being slightly better than some of the other gear but nothing like how D1 made it's endgame gear vastly superior to everything else. Then as they tried to introduce and put better gear behind harder activities, watered down the difficulty so everything was overly accessible. Now the game's difficulty, grind/level requirements are back up to everything being tough and tedious- but hardly any of the gear really being worth it still. Imo it's never a good move to just hand stuff out to players en-mass or try to make everything accessible when the whole point is rarity and/or difficulty to obtain. Then again the community has gotten so ass-backwards with toxicity against better/skilled players in its game. Being a streamer or anything remotely 'pro' just gets you hate and mocked and it's just so sad and disheartening as a player who plays specifically to 'git gud'.

The gear sync in FF isn't perfect, it's just the opposite problem to WoW. Gear that is synced down in FF has meteria melds completely disregarded, which is weird because it would be so easy for them just sync those melds down to level appropriate materia. So if you want BIS for ultimates you have to actually get the highest item level gear for the fight that won't be synced down and meld that. Although the time it takes to do that pales in comparison to the prog so it's just a minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things.
@ensamvarg8504 Жыл бұрын
To be fair, the difference between the theoretical BiS and just syncing your levelcap stuff down is maybe 100dps. Mostly it really only matters for the current expansion's ultimates, since their dps checks are much tighter with food and pots being less impactful (obviously, endwalker food in stormblood content is a much bigger increase than endwalker food in endwalker content). Thankfully this said minmaxing effort takes little time like you said, although it can be much more time consuming specifically in stormblood (some of the artifact armor has better substats than whatever the dungeon would give you)

If you haven’t already, I hope you check out Relic weapons too! Every expansion there is a grind for stages of a weapon of your choice (you can have multiple too) and I think there’s 6-8 stages per weapon. Each stage changes the model or makes it glow, so every other stage changes the model. (Correct me if I’m wrong I only have a few relic weapons, WoW ruined my want to grind 😅) You’ll probably hear a lot about the new relic weapons this expansion not being much of a grind because you can just buy the stages with in-game currency rather than grind FATES in specific zones (from my experience this is what most relics require). It wasn’t that hard - especially with friends - just time consuming, but I guess they wanted to tone down the grind. We also didn’t get an extra zone to grind in (the past few relics have come with an island to spend time at, you’ll definitely hear of Eureka and Bozja. I love Bozja but Eureka is not for me.) Maybe we’ll get one in Dawntrail (next expansion)!

is it just me or whenever WoW vets move to FFXIV they got like previlages and lots i mean lots of view same goes to FFXIV vets go to WoW, is like both MMO has a rivaly but at the same time if we just put aside our hatred a collab of these 2 big MMO will become the biggest colab in MMO history

Its kinda like with regular companies. Brand A and B both sell something similar but do things differently. Ppl like them both for different reasons and when they try the other one they get to enjoy a different take on what they like. Healthy competition with good communities is great for everyone!

i'm not complaining. i think its hearing the other game's perspective on your game right?
@Flutterdark_ Жыл бұрын
if it hasnt been mentioned. while with raids trails and most content that is lower level you can enter the content unsync, meaning disabeling the scaling down, you CANNOT do this with ultimates ultimates will ALWAYS be as hard as they were back then cause you cannot gain any stat advantages. and due to the scaling it also disables higher level skills. so the only thing that makes a fight easier or harder is if an older skill got changed. like say if your basic lance poke got a damage buff or something.

Yeah having an Ultimate Weapon is a badge of honor but whenever I'm doing my roulettes and I see one I roll my eyes because more often than not the ones with those weapons don't care about doing the content so they play terribly. I have seen so many horrible players with Ultimate weapons. If you have one you should know better than to die to the SAME mechanic 5 times. I stopped being wowed by them a long time ago due to this.
@selenang2006 Жыл бұрын
I think alot of new players have this misconception, clearing an ult is definitely tedious and requires alot of prep and prog. You have to clear one to know one. As for the dying part, you have to understand there are hundreds of diff dungeons with diff mechs. For some of them, the last time i ran it could be years ago. Top players are able to do well cause of muscle memory of the mechs in particular dungeons. I might do better than you in more familar places and vice versa. But tbf dying 5 times is rly too much 😅

@@selenang2006 I'm not saying someone who's cleared an Ultimate has to be a god at the game 24/7. No I'm calling out the players who really should know better but are playing bad because they think the content is beneath them. I've encountered more of them than I really should. I have tons of patience for those learning and doing content. Mistakes happen to even the best players, no one is immune. But if someone is showcasing an ultimate weapon I expect a minimum amount of effort.

Actually the Weapon Modell of the Ultimate Weapons are infact reused. For the Dreadwyrm Weapons they used the same Modell from the lvl 50 Raid there are Based of. They just increased the Glow effect to over 9000. The UwU Weapons are infact Heavensward Relic Steps for some of the Classes but they added this Blue Glow on it. But some Jobs infact did a complete New Model like Redmage or Samurai for the UwU Weapons because these Jobs didnt had Heavensward Relic Weapons since they came out in a later Expansion so they needed to make a differend Modell for them. But to be fair for some Classes i prefer some of the Relic Weapons over Ultimate Weapons. But Ultimate Weapons are more prestige. The only really unique thing about the Ultimate weapons is they still glowing while sheated. All other glowy Weapons in the Game lose the glow effect while sheated but you can still recognize a Ultimate weapon from someone who is chilling in one of the Major Cities.

Not quite correct. UWU uses the ARR relics, TEA is where HW relics are used. Just wanted to point that out

Its not really fair to compare FFXIV and WoW models because FFXIV is from the PS3/4 era while WoW is from the PS1/2 era. There's a huge gap in technology.
@Shiirow Жыл бұрын
WoW was never on console, so to say its "PS1/2 era" is being disingenuous. WoW was never held back by console hardware, it was one held back by low end PCs which were at that time more powerful than consoles.
@JustRuss Жыл бұрын
i think it's even more impressive graphically, given the limitations of console hardware
@tenjenk Жыл бұрын
graphics is not a limiter or metric of quality, its design ideas and visuals with the skill to create and pull them off. Aesthetics goes beyond any graphical superiority.

I don't like those over the top models to be honest. Even the relic weapons for the most part are too much for me. The one exception being the HW paladin one because the red weapon with the blue shield are great. Also the activation effect syncs with your stance and that looks dope. I favour more subdued glams and weapons. That being said, the UWU WHM one goes hard.

Dude streemer is a straight wow player, its their main point of reference and what their perspective is on the closest wow equivalent of something in FFXIV so they can get their head around it. Theres nothing at all wrong with that.
