The lead singer Woosung actually was raised in the states so he doesn't have an accent but the other singer speaks good English as well, really the entire band can speak English. They are great 💯 but Woosungs voice is just on a nother level, he has such control and flexibility it's kinda crazy. He has solo stuff too but together they complete each other and me! Lol😂❤

I think the rose is the most popular Korean band outside Korea as they sing in English. There are many many good korean bands who sing in Korean only and only Korean people listen but foreign people don't listen

The Seattle venue I'm seeing them in is 3x bigger than the one they played last time they were here. They're being recognized. Plus, they have new ARMY fans due to the collab with SUGA. Woosung does a fair bit of OST work, too, doesn't he? I keep hearing his voice pop up in dramas. More exposure slowly but surely!! 😀

The Rose's lead singer, Woosung, was raised in California, so yes, he sounds "normal" singing and speaking in English. What I love is that the voice "break" he has is organic versus manufactured. His voice is exactly as you hear it, and he has the ability to control those breaks versus them being random. Dojoon, the other prominent singer here, has improved his English by leaps and bounds, and you'd never know he wasn't fluent (he is now, but has a slight accent when speaking). I'm not sure this is the best song to analyze vocal ability/technique, and for that I'd recommend Sorry (their debut), Sour, and Beauty and the Beast. Woosung also did solo projects while the other members were doing their mandatory military, and I'd recommend Lazy (language at the very end!) and Face.

Woosung's voice just sounds so beautifully effortless when he sings and it's really great when you just hear him talking... like the husky tone I could listen to all day. Also, to be fair, Dojoon grew up in New Zealand so it's not like he had no foundation when speaking English and mostly had to refresh it when they started doing international promotions, at least compared to Hajoon or Jaehyeong.

It's a pronunciation thing, in that if you listen to the older songs, Dojoon's pronunciation is more accented. Not that that's bad, it's simply that in an all-English song, it begins to blur the line between US and Korean groups to a casual listener.

Yes! I’m so happy you are reacting to The Rose, they have a lot of beautiful songs that deserve to be discover by more people. If I can I would recommend “She is in the rain” by them, it’s one of my favourite, and “Snooze” by Agust D (a member of BTS), it’s a collaboration with Woosung (one of the vocalist of The Rose) and Ryuichi Sakamoto (the famous Japanese composer), they are both very powerful and emotional songs, hope you are going to like them✨

Since most people have talked about Woosung, I will add that Dojoon is the other singer. He also speaks English since he grew up abroad in New Zealand. The other two band members, Hajoon and Jaehyeong, are less fluent and confident in speaking English, but they do understand it. When writing music they've said that they don't choose whether the song will be in English or Korean and that they let the melody guide them. Sometimes they have songs in full English, sometimes they throw in a few lines of Korean because it just fits better, and sometimes their songs are completely in Korean.

I love this song! My other favorite is She’s In The Rain. They are so under rated. I actually found them because the lead singer of The Rose (Woosung) featured on BTS’s Suga’s solo song Snooze. I was like, who is THAT?! His voice was straight up haunting.

I learned about these guys after hearing Woosung in a song that Suga from BTS did on his solo album. As you guys start diving deeper into the BTS rabbit hole, I hope you will check out the song Snooze, which is under Suga’s alternate stage name Agust D. It features Woosung and is such a beautiful song! Also, Alive and Sorry are two of my absolute favorite songs from The Rose.

Woosung is a super-talented singer from LA who fell into music when he was scouted in the US and then moved to Korea, where his current bandmates asked him to fill in for a gig they needed a second singer. Thus began Windfall before they were signed as the Rose. While they were never very popular in Korea and had issues with their company that led to a lawsuit to free them of their contracts, they came back as an indie band with a storm about 2 yrs ago after the Korean members exited the military. They cover all types of genres from this indie rock sound to beautiful vocal performances like Beauty and the Beast... they really are a treasure that creates meaningful music because they love it.

The Rose is a K Indie rock band, and they get more and more recognition worldwide, well deserved, because they are amazing, and Woosung's voice can give you chills ! My favorite Korean band, besides BTS. They have a lot of great songs : Sorry, Childhood, Definition of Ugly; Sour, ILY , and Woosung have amazing solo songs too. I love Woosung's voice. His voice is unique. Woosung has had an interesting journey in the music industry. He grew up in Thousand Oaks, CA and was in high school there. His goal was to study psychology as a career. His journey after high school to Korea and joining The Rose is fascinating, so many twist and turns. To me it seemed like destiny for the all of them meeting at the right time. The Rose is a unique band and they have their own sound.

I went to The Rose concert this past Thursday and OMG!!!!! For someone who never heard of them aka me (went to company my little sister) they were AMAZING 🤩 their concert was a total vibe! Love that you got in to The Rose. They are a great Korean Indie Rock band and I love Woosung's hauntingly beautiful unique voice. He also has his own solo work as well. Dojoon, the other vocalist also has a beautiful clean voice that gives another dimension to their duet, making their sounds amazing together. The Rose has a lot of great songs but She's in the Rain and Childhood are my favs. Look forward to more The Rose and BTS!

Others have mentioned of course that Woosung (aka Sam) is Korean American born and raised in LA but I would like to underscore that there are MANY Asian Americans that leave the United States (and other western countries) to pursue music/acting etc because there is not a ton of opportunities or appreciation in the industry for Asian faces. Also there is much more investment in training and support in other countries (Korea in particular is known for this). That has its own pitfalls, of course. Just wanted to take this as a teachable moment for anyone unfamiliar with this context. Thanks for the reaction!

Ahh The Rose! I was lucky enough to see them in Atlanta last year, in a theater setting, so intimate and amazing. I highly recommend Red, Beauty and the Beast, and just so many more songs of theirs. Especially his song with Agust D /Suga, of BTS, SNOOZE

The Rose is great ❤ thank you for reacting! If I were to give some recommendations BTOB on Killing voice is a great one they are a self writing, self producing group that is known for their great vocals. On Killing voice you get a mix of their songs and nice listen to their vocal chops.

i got into The Rose after Suga (BTS) released his album with the song SNOOZE feat Woosung from The Rose and Ryuichi Sakamoto which was just stunning... definitely showing Woosung's vocal range!

Woosung is American. The band actually just got back together a little over a year ago because everyone else went to the military. Since Woosung is American he didn't have to conscripted and did a lot of solo stuff while touring to keep the band's profile alive and allow more people to know The Rose as well. Hence why Woosung's English has no accent. I think a lot of their earlier stuff will show the band's vocal ability more widely. Like Sorry and She's In the Rain. I love their new sound though, it's more grittier
