THIS! He actually articulates quite well how he is feeling even when he is really worked up and upset. That’s a time when you could reasonably expect someone to be angry and irrational, but he still somehow manages to articulate himself. Makes a huge difference to the parents who can only argue back that he should “take a joke” and “stop being a butthole” like children. Their mental development seems to have stopped when they were 9.

A majority of the time, children going through any kind of trauma tend to mature a lot quicker, i went through quite a bit of f-ed up shit a couple years ago and a few people in my family have mentioned that I’m more mature then most of the adults in my family 😅

Coming from a home of abuse, if you asked my little brother at Codys age if he loved his daddy he would say yes. If you asked him if daddy plays with him he would say yes. Moral of my comment is that kids don't understand where the abuse line is drawn.

Thats exactly what i was thinking, yeah. You see it in cults, in abusive families, in dictatorships... "Oh, you're soooo lucky to be with us, this thing might be bad, but noone else has X." X can be respect, love, gods mercy, money, or any combination thereof. In this case, they seem to have chosen "not being litterally beaten by their parents" and "money" as the answer.

When Cody was pushed into the shelf I physically recoiled. How can any adult do this to a kid without vomiting? All those children, including the ones who have been encouraged to become bullies, are victims of abuse and will deal with the scars from this treatment well into adulthood.
@konstance13
@konstance13 Жыл бұрын
This is an old comment, but I agree. A lot of people don't seem to realize that the kids being encouraged to abuse their siblings are largely doing so a) to avoid being abused and screamed at themselves and b) because it gets positive reinforcement from the parents. That's why some videos you see the girl joining in on the "pranks" and some she's the victim. I'm glad the youngest two are away from them now, but the other kids are still gonna have a lot of shit and trauma to push through.

KZbin have to do something about that. You cant expose-use your kids-on the web ,just to make profit from them,i am not just talking only about Daddy of five,there is a lot of KZbinrs do that . I understand people, love the Big brother, but lets be real. when he have to do with kids5-12 years old,we have to be very careful.and think twice before expose them online and push them do thinks alot of the times they dont want. People get mad and angry about Daddyofive, when they saw him abuse his children at some of his video. Come on lads.stop fool our selfs,the abuse has started by the time this daddy,deside to upload videos with his kids age 5 to 12,online.not just today that all the world witness this child abuse videos! Some KZbinrs realize that this is wrong, and remove from their vlogs daily ,videos with their children,like Casey Neistat,at the other hand some other are ready to expose to the web,their newborns for some more $$$! If you think thats is ok for someone to use his underage kids at any way for profit,then do your stuff lads, lie to your selfs that there is nothing wrong about that ,and keep supporting them and when the time comes do the same with your own childs!!

This is causing him so much sadness and so much distress, it’s cruel. Pranks aren’t supposed to make your child cry, they’re supposed to make them laugh. This is so cruel and it is obviously abuse.

If people are viewing this recently, there has been multiple updates. First of all, the mother is actually the step-mum, but the father is actually the biological father. The biological mother and (I think) her mother was fighting in court for the rights to fully look after her children. She showed these videos as evidence. Eventually, her and her mother won, and now she has custody of her children. They are now doing well in their biological mother’s presence. The farther and the step mother had been investigated, and they’ve been arrested with multiple abuse charges (allegedly) Please like this comment so other people who are also worried about where they are now.

missplasticpony exactly! i grow up with a parents who never swear in front of me and my sister because they don't want us to swear too. a lot of good morals and right conduct. Now im a grown woman been in this world for almost 28 years and is now a mom to my now 9 month old daughter, i really get now (not like i didn't get it before) but as a parent myself, it is really important to treat your child with love and respect and if you want to teach them good morals and right conduct you have to be it first. A child molds their character through the people around them, the parents is the most important people for that matter. Even if it's a "Joke" the effect in it to their heart and brain is not a joke. They are human and they have feelings. There is a reason why bullying SHOULD NOT be allowed anywhere. In this videos of DaddyOfive channel, I see it as the most unbearable bullying i have ever seen because it comes from the kids own parents. Yes They claimed it's a prank or jokes but this is absolutely an overated jokes. Not funnt and it's traumatizing not only to the kids involve but also to those kids watching it even.

that poor boy..i feel so bad... when his "dad" pushed him the first thing he was worried about was fixing the books on the shelf that got knocked out of place by his face hitting them. That, in my opinion, says it all. I am surprised they have gotten this far without losing custody. As a mother to 4 children, it would break my heart to see any of my children that upset for any reason, let alone a "prank". Abuse is abuse, both emotional/psychological and physical, whether or not you call it a prank or a joke. IT IS NOT OK. These kids obviously think abuse is ok because its covered up by the words "prank" and "take a joke" or "I'll buy you a new xbox". I just dont understand these parents at all, or the people who subscribed to their channel and agreed with this bullshit. How can you hurt your babies. Your own flesh and blood that you brought into this world. They are so precious... and it's all for money. Hopefully these parents don't get these kids back into their custody. This was recommended in my feed in 2020. Still incredibly difficult to watch them abusing their children and then trying to play it off like "it's just a prank, bro." Completely unacceptable behavior from supposed parents, but the thing that worries me the most is now, it's not in the public eye. Now, their accounts have been kicked offline, deleted, hounded, and every step of the way they've proven they've learned nothing from this. Even their own website, the message they posted when the were required to delete all of their videos because they disobeyed the rules of their probation, shows that they feel absolutely no remorse for what they've done. Now, what's happening behind closed doors? If that is what we saw publicly... what's happening now that it's all private? I sincerely hope those kids are all okay.

Cody is by far the most emotionally intelligent person in that house. The fact that he time and time again recognizes that the treatment he's receiving is wrong "you put me through all this for a STUPID PRANK" calls his parents out "you don't love me, you don't like me" (which can be seen in the multiple, yes, multiple videos where they try to convince him they're getting rid of him), and the fact that he time and time again tries to escape the family, escape the camera, begs to be left alone so he can cool down, even once clearly saying that he just wants to be left alone so he can calm down, all of this shows what an incredible little boy he is in spite of the abuse. This is a textbook example of a narcissistic household dynamic, Cody is clearly the black sheep of this family, and yet he is sooo strong. Despite the odds, I have very high hopes for Cody and I hope someday he's able to heal and break the cycle of abuse for himself. I hope he gets the help he needs.

"I just wanna be alone so I can calm down," this poor kid is TRYING to deal with his emotions that his parents make money off of and exploit. it's really hard to see parents who not only don't address their kid's feelings, but outright capitalize on them. This has happened enough that he's had to develop coping mechanisms to deal with it. Breaks my heart.

Just a few more things that I recognized (I hesitate to say I've been abused but some of this is familiar in a bad way): There's a certain sound that the father makes in one of these clips; he's inhaling, and doesn't say anything, but it's really obvious to me that he wants to shout or something. In the clip where they explain why they're excluding Cody from the trip, they say there's something wrong with him, which is worrisome in and of itself, but then they explicitly link it to him being redheaded. I watched their video called "Cody gets kicked out." The "prank" is that they're sending Cody to live with another youtuber (KidBehindACamera, who should also be reported) because he's bad. The dad starts the video by telling the two other boys that they're sending Cody away, and what they think of it. The second oldest lists a bunch of reasons, then the oldest one immediately puts on headphones as soon as the dad enters his room, then says that he wants to go when asked what he thinks about it. The first few minutes after that is Cody trying to do math homework, then the parents saying they're sending him away; he doesn't believe them until the dad shows him a video that the YTer mentioned above recorded. The next 15+ minutes are him in intense emotional distress, saying that he doesn't want to leave his family because he loves them: the mom tells him that he doesn't, because he's bad, and that they like him but are sending him away anyways (iirc she says she doesn't love him; I was kinda blanking because it's intense). The parents get the rest of the younger children to help pack his stuff up. Cody starts throwing stuff, because they're still not letting up, and the dad starts yelling at him, at different points saying they should lock him in the bathroom or under the bathroom sink, and at another point pushing Cody, Emma, and the other young brother (Alex?) while on the stairs (he keeps telling them that they're going to break his leg/neck/etc), and yells at the brother while he's not really doing anything. Then he finally says "It's just a prank" and asks the other kids if they want to visit that YTer while Cody gets his bedclothes from where he threw them earlier (during the argument) and goes upstairs without a word. Like honestly, the look on his face is depressing, and the parents are despicable people who've taught their kids to either trust no one or to behave as abusers for the rest of their life.

I can't even imagine the damage that these parents are inflicting on their kids on a regular bases. The fact that so many people sub to them and stand up for them like its not a big deal is very eyeopening. No wonder so many kids are mentally/emotionally messed up if this is considered normal parenting. Some people in the comments were saying that this is called "strict" parenting. What!? Tatyana2006 the consequences have a long term impact on the children, as they are growing up thinking this kind of behavior is normal. My mother specializes in intrafamiliar violence and she usually deals with people who come from environments like this one, this is quite common in Mexico, my country, where parents tell their boys to man up by using threats of physical violence, bullying and mental abuse to achieve a real macho out of their kids.

My dad was constantly beaten as a child for little to no reason, often times because his father simply felt like it, and nobody in his house hold did a damn thing. Often he was blamed for things and picked on by members of his own household. He ran away to live on streets halfway through high school and never graduated. Kids get fucked up when they don't get enough attention. Families picking on the youngest happens, and I don't give a damn how much you love your kid, it doesn't stop you from hurting the kid, and that's not a valid defense, being a parent doesn't give you some magically ability to be a good person or justify every action you do with your kids.

Off topic from the main issue. Kids do lie. I was watching my 5yo Niece for my sister the other day. During which She wanted to talk to her mom, I said "Ok, Just let me finish what I am doing" She sat there, and not 7 Seconds later she say "I hear the phone ringing" being that I had a headset on I could not hear it. So I jumped up to go answer it, when I got there it was not ringing, and I realized I did not hear it while running to pick it up. I asked Her "did the Phone really ring?" She said "yes" I asked "Are you Sure...?" Then she giggled, and said "No, I just want to call my mom" They can very much Lie.

I'm an adult and that high tense cursing, screaming, and crying situation put me on edge. The children looked terrified and I was terrified for them. No one deserves to be treated that way. Screaming at them and saying 'Haha take a joke' and seemingly pushing the kids to physically put hands on the others. Its just really upsetting. I would have hated to have these people as parents.

+Addy I had the same when I was being mistreated by an ex. Panicked about the radiator breaking when I was pushed into it, or cleaning up his empty booze-bottles like everything was fine, while I was being cursed and screamed at in front of people. I had to re-learn how to think of myself first, when I hurt myself. And I'm still learning. It fucking sucks that this happened to them their entire life, it's going to be hard to change the pattern.

I would love for that to be what that beautiful little kid knew as a prank. Scaring your kids like what my dad did is... normal, and not traumatizing. "at least you're not beating us like most parents" suggests that these kids have been told that "most parents" beat their children 👀 i.e. be grateful we're only bullying you, y'all have it good. Other thing that these kids obv. take for granted as a household standard: getting screamed and cursed at.
@Thirtyeen
@Thirtyeen 7 жыл бұрын
That poor kid. My heart is breaking for him. When I first saw the video, I thought the swearing was bad enough (although I do sometimes forget my filter, I never scream and swear AT my children!), but then seeing just how confused and scared that poor kid was just about killed me. He knew he didn't do it, and the people that he wants to TRUST, that are supposed to be on HIS side, are the ones pushing and pushing this situation in his face. A kid is supposed to be able to trust their parents. I know it is not always how it goes down, but goddamn even in some of the most abusive situations a kid will still love and trust a parent. This kid needs an outlet, he needs his parents to see that his emotional trauma in these situations is more important that KZbin views or money or whatever. Goddamn, basic boundaries! This kid is old enough to speak his mind and has been making it clear that he is not interested. Just because a person is a parent, it doesn't mean they have a right to treat a kid like a piece of property! I don't know how it is in the US or in that families state, but here in the UK there was a chaneg in terminology i the legislation from 'Parental Rights' to 'Parental Responsibilities' to try and change the mindset that parents have a RIGHT to their kids and treating them however they want, to them having RESPONSIBILITY to care for them properly. I film my kids, you film your kid. Hell many people do nowadays, but it doesn't take much effort to realise how important boundaries are when doing this. Yes, social media and mega sharing like this is still new territory and can take some adjusting to, but parenting is as old as time - does one really think they arfe doing the right thing if it ends upn causing this level of distress in a kid?!?! Sorry. I feel I'm not being articulate enough 'cause I am just hurting so much for this kid. And for his siblings who are NOT the scapegoat and haven't been taught enough empathy to realise that just because THEY are not feeling hurt it doesn't matter that someone else is. I'll admit I haven't taken the time to watch any more of this families videos. a) I just can't bear to watch more of that kid or any of those kids being in pain, and b) I don't want to give them any further traffic. So this means my perception is cominbg through the bias of what you've put together with your team Phil, but in this instance I feel pretty confident that you and your tram will have gone through that difficult watching to save some of us from doing it too. I just can't stand to see kids suffering, and wholeheartedly believe emotional abuse is as damaging as physical or sexual abuse of a child. It's so so much harder to prove it though, and takes real courage and strength of CPS/social workers to put together a case of emotional abuse.

I personally believe that spanking your kid is fine. But this kid, this older 'step brother' to Cody, claims that they don't beat them like other parents, isn't the one getting abused. He is actually a contributer to the abuse! The step mother fucking encourages the abuse by disguising it as pranks! And the step brothers are even halfway willing to do it, due to Cody only being legally siblings they don't think of him as family. They think of him as the wimp of the house who isn't truly their brother, and their mother authorizes the abuse, therefore giving them the opportunity to not treat Cody like a decent human being. Fuck the step mom, and the step kids, they all deserve to get punished.

I think this counts as emotional abuse. Cody clearly does not enjoy or consent to this. For a child of his age he's very intelligent and articulate. When he says "Leave me alone so I can calm down" he clearly knows what his emotions are like and that he can and should control them. Putting him under this consistent stress will ruin his ability to control his emotions and possible develop a mental illness. these parents aren't trying to be bad, but they are horribly mislead on what is ok and where the line between a prank and hurting someone is. Like if I put up one of those huge nets they use to save suicide jumpers, and throw my child off a 10 story building, but he is physically uninjured. Is it all ok if I say it was a prank? like clearly there is a line that gets crossed at some point. Maybe different people have different lines, but these parents crossed my line.

So your argument is that they are somewhat excusable because they are ignorant of the distress they are causing? THEY ARE FUCKING BULLIES. I see this behaviour from kids to other kids and it is considered bullying, let alone a fully grown ADULT PARENT to their child. And you know what, I would've perhaps let your comment go - but these people made a 21 minute video defending their actions, the ignorance excuse went out the window at that moment. They are intoxicated by the money and are happy to profit from the distress they are causing that kid. The fact he's intelligent just makes it worse because he is able to comprehend and think about what is happening to him, but that will just cause him to look inwards for fault. This shit is fucking disgusting man, and I don't buy for a second that these shithead parents are innocent through ignorance. That's no excuse for a parent of 5 kids. NONE AT ALL. A parent's instinct is to love and nurture their child, not toy with it for money.

Go Away You make some good points and while I don't quite think ignorance makes people innocent (especially in cases where it should be obvious that a line was crossed. Which you feel this is and I don't fully dissagree), I do feel that ignorance is commonplace surrounding so many issues that our duty should be more so to educate than punish. I think/hope the average person wants to "do good" most of the time, they often just don't know how. Do you honestly think these parents want to abuse their child? Or even do you truly think the money and attention makes these parents somehow think it's ok to abuse their children? I think it's more likely that they don't realize the full gravity of their actions.
