CHiP might not be a real dog, but don’t tell him that. He’s probably one of the most fun toys my kids have tried out, and despite having a real dog near by, CHiP was the star of the show for the time we had him.

Shelly thanks for the video. Your son helped you a lot by making chip do all things. He is a great actor and I loved him. He reminder me of my sisters son.. Especially when he gave his goal to chip. Chip was so happy..I loved it really.. Love you both for the wonderful video..!!

Actually, yes I did. I just tested CHIP outside on a clear, sunny day because it was a better way to showcase his abilities.

Brand new they're $300. Not worth it I bought one from a guy for $100 and the video that I watched said if you charge the watch too long it burns up the battery and the watch doesn't work anymore. So Chip will go after the ball but will not bring it back to you unless you have the watch on. And he won't follow you around without the watch and the chip the guy sold me the watch didn't work. Don't buy one of these. You can buy them for about $50 to a hundred used but you never know what you're getting. It's supposed to come with two watches but most people don't have any of the watches and if they do the ones they do have don't work because they've left it on the charger too long. The batteries don't work very well anyway it's not worth your money or your time it's not as cool as it looks like on the video

When we tested him we had to get up close for him to follow. He probably didn't have to bend over that much, but when he was straight up we'd lose the connection.

I would like to take this technology and incorporate it into a drone. I wonder if anyone else has thought of doing this. Dogs are cool, but I have a real dog and I wouldn't trade her for anything. However. This would make a really cool drone I think. instead of a Ball, maybe it could follow a bracelet, a target, or another drone.

You should compare this price to the Pleo that came out years ago. A fraction of the cost and does a lot more. Also compare it to the Sony AIBO that was released at 2k. Heck, even the Furby connect is coming in at $100 and it's not doing anything but sitting there on the table making noises. We're getting close to impulse buy prices, but that tech is still going to cost you a bit extra.

Evidexity For the short time that I had one (when it was first released) I could see the potential. But I just couldn't justify keeping it. Especially at the price it was released at (somewhere between $400 and $600, it's been a long time since that purchase). I did buy Chip. However the kid that it was bought for did not like it. It's kinda hit or miss with toys that move on their own. Some she will take to, others she wants no part of. She really liked the dog before I turned it on. As for the dog itself. It was okay. After a couple of firmware updates it was time to let it roam. I found that it had issues navigating around object (I thought it was supposed to have a sensor to avoid objects like: the couch, the wall, the entertainment center, etc). It also wanted to charge often, even when the battery said it was full. Getting back to the base was hit or miss. Sometimes it was impressive. Other times it just couldn't seem to find it (when it was right in front or in back of it). Moving the base didn't make a difference. It also seems to rely on the app to do to many things. And I found that if you forget to turn the ball off it would chew through the batteries overnight (fresh set of batteries). So it went back to the store. I could have worked through the issues. But the main audience for the item wasn't interested in it. I think for a child that is into the dog it will be a great gift. Oh, I should add: Setup was easy. Nothing to "pair". Just turn on the dog, start up the app, and away you go. The same with the ball and the watch. Also, as would be expected, firmware updates are done through the app. If you are giving this as a gift your going to want to make sure you have the updates done as they take about 15 minutes each. I remember having to do 3 after installing the app. You cannot use the dog while the update is happening.
