Wow mate had to swap the ESC and motor bummer! Great movie at the end though. Loved the camp fire scenes, you can't beat a nice fire. Big like from me mate. All the best and keep safe dude.

Hello, Rob! Yes - this truck fought me all the way during the recording of this video. I had planned to do more with camera positioning etc, but at least I can go through it and fix/change everything now that the vid's been posted. Have a good day!

I thought the repair was going to hold up, but hey like you said that is part of the joys of rc, lol, but this run was still very good, and the trailer was very useful. Really good video 😉

We all have our struggles and breakdowns and you manage to make a very fine video out of it! Your cars are really good looking and the worn trailer that came to rescue is a masterpiece! Good composition and... well, I simply like your videos! 👍😁

Hello, my friend - thank you so much! Thanks to the kind comments from you and others, I'm now glad that I didn't just give up on this video and delete the footage. The car trailer was a true "budget" build - my rocket-powered MAN truck means that I have a good number of 10 x 10mm firework sticks, and I used these to make the chassis. The 6WD truck that was towing it is my equivalent of your HG Volvo; it's based on a cheap 6WD buggy from WL Toys. I bought an ABS pickup body and cut the back half away to make the cab. Both MN Models FJ40s have had their rear overhangs shortened, which I think improves their looks. It certainly improves their off road performance!

To remove them from the MN Models trucks you have to take the body off, and I shot that scene away from home, without the tools to do that. Better planning next time!

Great looking trucks and locations, and I loved the c34 getting trailered off in such style at the end! Sounds like it's got some serious wiring problems though... these old trucks, eh?! 😎👍

Ha ha - well, it's sort of our duty to keep 'em going... The bent diff input shaft made the front props haft come off. In flailing around, this jammed against a suspension link, preventing the motor from turning. That led to the ESC going up in smoke. Goodness knows what tok out the receiver. At the moment I'm a bit cross with the car for spoiling my video shoot, but eventually I should think I'll forgive it and sort it out. I even bought a new diff input shaft, but I can't find the bloody thing anywhere.

Such a great little movie, Del! Too bad the truck lost all drive again after the initial fix, but great to see your 6WD come to the rescue! Loved the camp fire at night, which you promptly ran over in the morning! Hope you are well, take care my good friend. Oh, and a thumbs up, of course! :O)

I hadn't noticed that I'd run over the remains of the camp fire! What you saw here were the bits which were supposed to be intercut with tracking shots which were lost when my laptop suddenly threw in the towel. I should have learned by now not to delete the original footage from the SD card until the video's finished and posted. This will be my policy from now on. That WPL C34 was unbelievably unlucky during the shooting of this video. I considered fixing it yet again and re-shooting the tracking shots, but I'm trying to clear the decks and record the building of my pressie from Peter Smith, so I folded, and just posted what I had managed to salvage. I'm glad you thought it worth watching, Mark; I considered binning it all, but couldn't bring myself to do that...
@MarkBryanRC3 жыл бұрын
@@Del350K4 Glad you didn't bin it, Del - too much good footage to waste! Good policy to save the SD card footage, I do that too. Enjoy that Peter Smith present, along with the sprinkling from the RC Elf! :))

@@MarkBryanRC The generosity shown to me by Peter and the Elf has been astonishing! The Elf has also bought me a kit, so I've been thinking about ways to set up my cardboard workshop set on an indoor tabletop so I can build both kits without concerns about the weather impeding progress.

Thank for watching! I wanted this video to be better than it is, but luck was against me. I want to try again some time, with three drivers and me recording, so I can get tracking shots of all 3 trucks moving together.

Hi Del, coincidently I commented on another video today saying how I really like this type of 'convoy' trail run style videos, in that multiple trucks follow each other - and then your video pops up. I'm being spoiled ! I thought it all went very well and especially liked the campfire moment. We once filmed something similar but the completed video has yet to see the light of day. Very nice upload...👍🏻👍🏻.
@Del350K43 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I want to revisit the idea, placing a forward-facing camera on the rearmost vehicle, then a rear-facing camera on the lead truck, and including tracking shots of all three moving in unison, all laced together with tripod-mounted shots like those in this video. It does require a good deal more organisation than driving a single truck with one hand and recording with the other. All the drivers have to be persuaded to stay in line and not overtake each other, and if any one vehicle gets stuck or topples onto its side then the entire lot have to be marshalled back to the start point for that shot, in the right order, so the shot can be repeated. The more vehicles are involved, the greater the chances that one of them will decide to act up, and the same goes for drivers! Still, it's something that I really want to try and do.
