WPL Toyota FJ40 Build Pt3. Finished Model

Overall I'm happy with the finish although every time I look I can see something else to fiddle with _ I don't think that ever goes away to be honest! The next job is to get it moving with some electronics, I dare say when its rumbling through some undergrowth I'll make some adjustments to the paint and detailing.

Blimey that's come out nice. What a transformation and Steve, I'd be as pleased as punch if that was my truck. Love the subtle rust patches on the body especially. I would, me being me, stain the paint a little more. It could be just the video/light/camera not showing what you've done fully, but if the intention is to video it I'd say you would need a slightly heavier hand. On my monitor here, it's hard to pick up any variations in paint tone across an otherwise well battered truck, which seems a little at odds. Compare your playback to the real model, perhaps, to see how much detail is lost in-camera. And it won't always be that size in frame either. 'tis something I'm still getting used to tbh, and definitely different to the 1/32 n smaller scale modelling. A

Thanks mate, its come out alright hasn't it 😁 You make some good points there, in real life (or currently on my desk) the shading on the bodywork is more pronounced than it shows in camera / on screen - I hadn't considered that aspect of it when doing the weathering. I'll give it a little tickle over the next couple of days and see if I can make the shading a bit more distinctive without being too heavy handed. Thanks for the observations, its good to have a little push to get it over the line - as you says its very different from playing around with the smaller scales. Steve
