It tries to mimic the shortcut we used to exit the stage, but I haven't been able to do it under any circumstances. Could you tell me how you do it?

Are you referring to when you exit the stage after a challenge race? For that you need to hold start while crossing the finish line, which will make the pause menu pop up and you can exit the stage from there.

This link will redirect you to the latest version to download: livesplit.org/downloads/ If that doesn't work, there's an alternative version called "Livesplit One": one.livesplit.org/ If you're on Mac, this is your best option since Livesplit isn't supported by it. There should be tutorials for it on YT if you're still having trouble.

Yes, you can buffer Start (basically holding it as you cross the finish line), so that the pause screen appears on the first frame of the victory screen. That way I go to retire and save time from not having to watch it.
