I doubt Wrel wrote these patch notes because there's no preamble and no numbers associated with the changes. Note: One of the devs posted on Reddit the Helios numbers but there's no additional info for the construction changes yet. Subscribe for more

I think the question you should be asking is 'do they have anyone in charge yet?' The one doing the patch notes is probably not in charge.

I am personally so happy wrel is gone his agendas are going to be gone so hopefully the health of the game can get back to where it should be before he pushed out all of his balance changes to benefit his play style

Well Wrel was Wrel because he originally was a well known YT content provider and provided very detailed stats on weapon/armor as well as effectiveness in given situations, his YT videos were actually quite good. So given how he was already well known to the community it would have been hard for him to become lead designer incognito so to speak

And I think he may have been somewhat put into that role because of who he was in the community. There was a lot of hype surrounding him taking over. Good marketing as well as a guy who hopefully leads well.

After everything, Planetside 2 is still doing better now than it did with the hex system. It took alot of complaining for the devs to revert back to the lattice link system

I really want to see NSO get a few buffs… I was an NSO main for a few years and I recent tried my NC account again. Playing NC really felt like I removed my weighted clothes, and now NSO just feels annoying to play.

You can’t deconstruct a silo with the lasers PERIOD. The silo is immune to laser damage

Running back and forth to install modules is a huge pain. I would suggest a system where you pull a module instillation tool from the silo. The too would enable you to go to a socket and choose a module from a menu of available options. Maybe just skip the tool and have the menu pop up when you click on a socket. A cortium bomb or worm would still be something you would have to pull and carry as a one time use item though. It would be crazy to be able to run to each socket and place bombs on the whole base in one go.

The ideal would be a full overhaul where you enter a 'construction chamber' and it gives you a limited top-down RTS view around your base, with the ability to freely manipulate and place construction. In the style of Natural Selection, basically. Limit rendering to just your own faction to prevent any kind of exploity seeing over walls, etc. I think it would be far more practical.

This is how you balance classes in PS2: Medic is Fine, Engineer is Fine (Maybe buff the speed of AV turret or/and range). These classes are support so I dont see the need for increasing infantry fight capabilities. Give Light Assaults a buff in flight speed nothing crazy but overal a pretty fun class to play. Maybe in the future increase verticality of bases but for now a flight speed buff would be enough. Now for the hot takes, the Max is fine, maybe nerf shotguns a bit (NC). Nerf Heavy Assault shield (a bit), I understand the purpose of heavy assault but at the moment is just press f and win. Now the controversial one, remove Avoidance implant and make it standart for all infiltrators, this would allow for another implant and fit the overal style of the class. And increase chamber reload speed for snipers like SAS-R, its just crazy, I understand rewarding good aim but too strong. And to be clear its my favorite playstyle in PS2. Roast me away.

i'd Remove Obital strike spam, Increase Damage to Bastion, add the ability to climb terrain better, remove the Nerf they added to Power Knives, Infils can hack Camped attack Vehicles, (NO SUNDYS) fall damage is reduced a bit, C4 animations and throw distance needs to be a Bit faster/Further add an infantry only game mode where we fight for a single point and K*ll count adds to the points of each team (capped at 90 to players) you do not need to buy an attachment that allow you to use another Shot for Bolt action Sniper rifles. the Adrenalin Perk actually makes you faster when running there are a lot more things than can be added to PS2 that would make it very fun, what would you all add ?

Honestly these patchnotes give me hope, im a new player still but these seem like they are all positive changes that look like a very strong start for the new designers era of leading PS2, coming in and fixing a handful of annoying bugs that have been around for a little while and tweaking construction in a relatively small way that ppl have wanted is a very good sign that the new designer is taking community wants and needs into account

Not having numbers is insane to me, and I've not played in a while so idk how strong the new thumper was/is but I absolutely am 100% against more splash damage weapons, having grenade, lasher, c4, vehichle and thumper spam is so frustrating to play against

Still waiting for my smoke grenade buffs... Like come on smoke light assault is SO FUN but the grenades just cover no space at all and the underbarrel launcher minimum arming distance is a nuisance.

I wonder if they could just repurpose void grenades from PS:A as a replacement to smoke grenades. In theory it would work better, as well as possibly be less graphically intensive than smoke particles.

As someone who enjoys construction its very difficult to prevent a single person from destroying it with an Ant or cortium bombs, the durability buffs are a nice addition however I also find the removal of ai turrets a real pain, defending a playerbase is hard enough as most folk go straight for dev bases (understandable) but i feel at least the anti infantry turret should be able to do something against players without player input, at least thats my 2cents on it

I have found that the warning from the Recon Array usually gives me enough time to save my base from a solo using cortium bombs or siege ant. If it turns out to be more than a solo person; I have a squadmate or two help defend the base. Removal of automated turrets was absolutely the right decision by the devs. It makes fights around construction bases so much less miserable. If I absolutely need an automated turret, I can just place a spitfire.

What the other guy said... with the recon thing my usual squad can almost always handle infantry or ant threats before they become an issue and not having ai turrets encourages engineers to be the main class of base squads for their ai turrets and repair capabilities... honestly i feel like most ppls complaints about construction are bc they are playing infiltrator or something stupid while doing base gameplay, engineer fills the holes of base gameplay the same way they do with armor game play.

I am carefully optimistic now, happy to see his departure, it was about time, but it should have been sooner, as Wrel stated in his own words, he's been burned out for the past years which overlaps perfectly with the ever increasing amount of bullshit updates, i hope we can get some corrections for the damage that has been brought but i honestly doubt it.

Unpopular opinion, but I actually enjoy Oshur. I feel like the water part of the map wasn't given a proper look. I feel like they should have added options for underwater vehicle combat (either weapons or loadout options that replace an offensive, defensive, or chassis slot to drive on the ocean floor, or something to allow shooting weapons underwater with reduced weapon stats. You have so much open space but you can't take advantage of it.

I kind of like the fact that vehicle combat is limited to the surface. But I do wish there was some Chassis I could put on sunderers/ants/harassers/flashes that would give me better surface mobility; especially if it made turbo work well on the surface. Driving on the water is so freaken slow.

for construction, i think that to emphasize the importance of bases and influence the flow of battles, there should be a module with a radius that makes the construction immune to vehicle damage and honly destroying that modules will allow the vehicles to tear down the base. this would emphasize FPS gameplay and make bases a real problem rather than just a minor inconvenience

I think the idea behind making modules tedious to place is it encourages base creators to work with a group of players rather than just themselves. If I’m at a player base and see an empty module slot, I usually just slot something into it real quick. I don’t really like the system, but I think that was the idea behind it.

@@surr3ald3sign all my base placements get active fights, i know how to place sand castles, i do not however make those pitch perfect retarded sand castles out on flat land thats claimed to be "inpenetrable by infantry" im NSO, i can literally use my javelin to climb the walls and kill the recon array and spawn tube with a single clip, that being said. spawn tube is still mostly used in many player bases because the fact u cant place a rebirthing center or command center unless its damn near flat land, my base was right on the road under the bridge of ascent. as i said before ALL Nc traffic was going through my base, all i had waa my silo, OS. spawn tube, walls and turrets, and even with all the defenders VS c4 fairys still were able to go in and spam c4 and arm the OS and kill my spawn tube over 10 times, various random players replaced it on their own as well as pulled multiple sundys as a back up. and it was still destroyed, the system sucks and its only worth using as i do which is offensivly, make a silo OS router pad and vehicle pad and thats it. cap the base and move on, there hasnt been a single sand castle i have no been able to kill solo, all i have to do is make a silo and vehicle pad and router, place the router ontop or anywhere inside their base, hack the command center terminal, spawn a shield sundy, and spam away at cort bombing kek, i know how to construction more than any other person in this game, and thats not a brag either.

Its 1 minute to 4 minutes on the mining laser deconstruct. That is the only figure I can provide you, cause someone was very happy about it on the reddit. You can do a lot of neat things with turrets and modules. As the opposition, too. I slapped a cortium bomb module in an active turret. It blew the turret up and ejected the guy inside, who I then disposed of as an infiltrator who otherwise couldn't deal damage to buildings or people hiding in construction turrets. Your question about who the game devs are might go forever unanswered. I don't think anyone wants to take on the spotlight Wrel stepped out of.

The module situation is bad right now. You don't need any form of damage, explosives in particular, anymore. And it's so fast. During the directive I felt bad for all the builders when I destroyed 10 modules in 1 minute. It's so quick, easy and effortless. I'm glad I don't play base building (anymore). Let's hope they don't waste too much money, time and manpower on construction and actually fix/balance the real issues.

Console?! When was the last time there’s been an update? Esamir is still locked, oshur is still not engaging, not faction specific main battle tank guns or even the anti material weapons. Bugs, ooo bugs too. Edit: how long has it been?

Console has 1/10th the amount of TOTAL players thaft 1 pc server has... let me say that again, the TOTAL player count across ALL consol servers is 1/10th the amount of players on ONE pc server. Its just not worth the effort, and tbh idk why didnt just remove support for console versions entirely by now, they are a resource sink that takes away from the actual games development

I don't know if you believe in it yourself or just misleading people on purpose. They worked on this patch while Wrel still was in the team. But the whole tone of the video (aside of reading patch notes) is like "hey look, Wrel is gone and it is immediately got better", which is just deceiving in a nutshell.

The game is in a precarious place. The total pop is riding the dead game line. And the slow rollouts of real new content doesnt help. My hope is they use this as a chance to start to sunset PS2 and bring Planetside 3 up.

@@arisenspirit Allows for better manipulation whether that is good or bad depends on their intent and how they handle the situation. This frees the group from bad press so they can more easily work on the problem at hand though it does come at the cost of the mental health of the individual unless they're a made up person to begin with.

The ability to easily hate and blame all issues on 1 dev is infantile. It assumes all the bad decisions originated from 1 mind and ignores that the whole dev team exists, they clearly have a level of input in all changes. I admit, it would be nice to know who the lead dev is, but not so it's easier to bully and harass them.

Honestly I think the game needs the Helios. Also for the thumper to have its damage increased. My reasoning behind this is in those rooms where you have 200 people those are the stalemates that go on for hours and hours that IVI players complain about all the time so put a weapon out that can completely destroy those stalemates and we can get the flow moving again. Play smarter and don't stay in a room with 200 people pushing the same freaking wall unless you want to because yeah I guess sometimes it is kind of fun. If you're worried about K/D stats one go touch, grass, two remove stats for the use of high explosive automatic grenade launchers.

Alternatively, I suggest reworking the Lasher, then making a NS heavy weapon that does similar. Splash damage isn't fun. Nobody likes getting splashed around a corner or doorway from someone they can't see. For an anti-group weapon, I suggest arching damage. Hitting an enemy bounces some damage to nearby enemies. If you start shooting someone within a large group; the whole group takes damage. So if someone ended up getting a flank on the group, they could easily clear it. Alternatively you could have the splash damage of the lasher only activating on direct hit on targets. It allows you to buff up the splash damage a lot, without making the weapon absolute cancer. It no longer becomes a weapon you just blindly spam on a floor or wall.

@@josephburchanowski4636 wow that's actually a really good idea, I would add to it to circle back to D Woods statement the devs should add alternate lanes to every hallway that gets camped it's very obvious which hallways those are. Honestly though I think that your suggestion about reworking explosive weapons to only deal splash on direct hits would be relatively easy to implement it would stay in line with planetsides skill ceiling and it would help to clear stalemates.

I like Planetside but the visuals of the game have gotten significantly worst over time. Even on p.c. at Max settings. Amd it takes me out of it when the game doesnt look good. I main Planetside 2 on my Playstation and even though the ps5 has come ouy no revisions or performance things have been changed. The games is the ps4 version running in ps5. Back in 2018 i think they actually enchanced the vusuals significantly. Problem was my game crashed more. But still lowering the quality that much. :( Idk man. I know we all want it but a Planetside 3 needs to happen at some point. Whatever it takes at this point. Seriously. Anything to make that a reality hopeful is something thats being worked toward in a certain capacity.

Wrel's out for a day and we already get less Oshur and some bugs fixed? Hopefully next they'll just roll a build from pre that shitty Esamir campaign that made 1/6th of the continent unplayable and ruined many more areas. That would be a good start.

Or just have the original continents added into the rotation minus all of reworks and base changes and restoring certain things like bio lab fights and rock bridge aka TI Crown rock bridge.

You're entirely right that not showing specific tuning numbers is a red flag that the devs are trying to hide information unnecessarily.

A, he didnt say that they were "trying to hide information" he said it was just hard to tell how much they changed something and B, its a new game designer; dont expect them to be perfect in their first patch notes...

Im gonna assume this is a joke... they would have to rework every single map to fit a 4th faction AND they would have to do other kinds of rebalancing bc nso does ALOT of work to balance the faction pops on any given continent

you know there is a problem when hossin was the least liked cont.......................then oshur came along and apart from the "new shiny" thing sydrome, its now universally despised. Given the choice, people would rather play on hosin than oshur and that needs to be sorted out. Oshur is just one giant bottleneck.

Either way any map on low pop hours alerts should pop with less pop during wee hours so night players aren't stuck on hated maps for 6 to 8 hrs it's annoying as hell

Patch is shit. Construction ruined, stealth ruined, and they buffed sundays so players have even less ability to stop pushes as if armor collums didn't have there way with the map for the last 4 years at least.

@@1roxyfan491 I personally want an aquatic chassis for the amphibious land vehicles (sunderer, ant, harasser, flash) as currently driving them overwater is extremely slow; and turbo is a bit underwhelming on the ant/harasser/flash when floating. Having the performance chassis equip little pontoons on the sides of the vehicles; with little propellers on the pontoons would be neat. Currently gate shield sunderers are my most pulled vehicle from seaposts. And driving from one seapost to the next is a bit sluggish. The NSO Javelin hoverbike is my second most pulled vehicle from seaposts. Followed by corsair third. I absolutely love the Corsair's catapult cannon; but I often don't have enough squadmates willing to use it to justify pulling the corsair. I really wish there were some type of vehicle objective near shores, that boats could fight each over for that provided some sort of advantage to infantry at the land facilities. Like maybe attackers get a hard spawn room somewhere, if attacker vehicles flipped the shoreline objective. Might even see more floating Magriders and floating Chimeras at the objectives, while Prowlers, Vanguards and Lightnings try to hold the beach (ideally the vehicle objective would have a really large capture zone, including both water and beach, allowing vehicles to maneuver while trying to flip it).

bro imma be honest it probs aint gonna happen; ps4 doesn't bring in enough money to warrent the dev time it would take and the updates are not suited for PS4. i.e. the reason Esamir isn't in PS4 is becuase it took up too much memory.

@ZealousVidya at this point I'm just I stopped caring about the updates.. it's more of the dev silence regarding ps4. We didn't know why esamir was locked to us, (thank you for letting me/us know why 😁) it's just that I'm waiting the devs to let us know what is happening.... about anything tbh 😔

yeah fairs, totally understand. Last year I remember Wrel tweeted that they had someone working on a PS4 update but yeah nothing came of it. Also heard about you guys being locked on Oshur for days, sounds like a nightmare.
