I saw Snuka do it even earlier in Toronto with Backlund. '81 or '82. Which makes me think he tested the move out in a few house shows before taking it on TV.

Under HHH there no longer a yearly HITC match its not been one since he taken over! HHH is only using it sparingly any more like this it is being use for Bad Blood which it actually this year it happens to be the anniversary of the first Bad Blood where HITC was introduced!!! This year it will be Drew vs Punk in HITC!

@@WrestlePod The evolution of the TLC matches is an obvious next step but I also feel that the Elimination Chamber deserves an expanded video. Although as I've said I haven't commented much lately but a strength of your channel is the diversity of subjects.

Please if you're going to talk about wrestling history at least get it correct. Snuka vs Muraco wasn't in October of 1982. It was October of 1983. The picture you showed was from the Snuka- Backlund cage match from June of 1982. Snuka didn't pin Muraco( I was there live that night.) he actually lost when Muraco went through the door. Backlund also won by escaping through the door. And the Mania 2 match with Hogan vs Bundy Wasn't the first time to allow victory from the top or through the door. Please do research before you put out misinformation.

I saw Snuka go off the top of the cage with Backlund in Toronto at Maple Leaf Gardens as early as late '81 or early '82 when I was 10 or almost 11. I am now sure that this was Snuka testing it out at a house show before taking it to TV. Backlund rolled out of the way and Snuka missed. I remember walking out of the Gardens and saying to my dad "I bet he is still laying there right now!" and my dad saying "Don't be ridiculous this is all fake". It is one of my most vivid memories. I can pinpoint the year because it was just as my younger brother became a wrestling fan at age 7 or 8 and he became A HUGE wrestling fan. And he would be at every monthly Maple Leaf Wrestling show at the Maple Leaf Gardens after that. "Don't ya dare miss it!" For me wrestling was interesting but a bit silly. I mean that was still the era of bear wrestling, midget wrestling and Andre the Giant wrestling 3 or 4 jobbers just as spectacle. I Iiked it, but nothing like my brother. Also a correction, Vancouver is not a province. It is a city in the province of British Columbia (or B.C.)

After a look through the Google machine I found the actual card Toronto, Ontario - Maple Leaf Garden - August 22, 1982 Tony Parisi vs. Ken Timbs at 9:14 Johnny Weaver vs. Tim Gerard at 3:44 Paul Jones vs. the Great Ninja at 8:56 Ricky Steamboat & Jay Youngblood vs. Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions Pvt. Nelson & Pvt. Kernodle for the titles Andre the Giant vs. Big John Studd at 10:04 when Studd failed a bodyslam, with Andre falling on top for the win WWF World Champion Bob Backlund vs. Jimmy Snuka in a steel cage match at 18:02 after Snuka missed a splash off the top of the cage

Steiners vs Money Inc was a classic. A great ending. Doink beat Bret on a house show. Macho shanked Flair at 'Cade 95. Sonny Onoo was a black belt in Taekwondo and would face Chuck Norris in exhibitions. Scotty Hall was 'Da Bad Guy'. Hulk couldn't let his ego go, but not through want of trying. Jo. Chyna necked Vince to win a battle royal on Raw. Tiger Mask got to Dynamite Kid about waking up. Tiger sent Tommy a video message urging The Dynamite Kid to 'Awaken'. Bossman beat Freddy Krueger AND Leatherface in tag-team action. The match took place in Japan, in the abandoned Takamoto Prison and was billed as a 'Halloween Prison of Horrors' match. Vic Grimes was 'Da Baldie'. Some say Bret and Anvil sabotaged the ring ropes in their title change bout against The Rockers. Shawn and Marty got to Vince but nothing could be proven🧐. Ted Dibiase. Ted. Six-foot one. Two hundred and sixty pounds. Omaha. Nebraska. Yes sir. Yes indeed. Bray Wyatt's dad was the captain of a shrimp boat and could be seen shrimping up and down the bayou. Bam Bam's favorite match was with Bret on a house show. Mark Callaway was 'Da Phenom'. The Steiners were shooters. Irwin Shyster hated wrestling in a suit and braces. Candido shot on Horowitz when Barry used Chris's finishing move without calling it. Perry. Perry Saturn got hot and shot on a jobber. Vince got hot and gifted him the moppy gimmick. When Undertaker heard he was beating Hogan, clean for the title, he and Percy would dance around to Koko B Wares theme. Koke overheard and got to Vince. Mark and Percy went to a meeting with Vince, where they were made to explain and apologize to Koke, ALMOST nixing the title change. Sting got to Bischoff about the WCW push of one Raven. Steve didn't 'get' the Raven character. Scotty got hot and hopped back to ECW to cool off. He even tried to poach Page Falkinburg for Heyman. Cactus feuded with Sabu in Philly. The Philly street fight was their classic. Shawn didn't take to Foley at first. Mick overheard an HBK rant about him and ran out of the building. LOD vs The Powers was the classic. Lex got to Brody in the cage in the humidity of Florida. Tempers flared and THAT'S why Bruiser no sold, and THAT'S why Lawrence ran away. Fonzie confirmed it in a shoot. Tap 'Bill Alfonso shoot' and find what you seek🧐. Brutus Beefcake was 'Da Beefer'. Jimmy Del Rey worked as a stripper to pay for wrestling lessons. Anvil got to Virgil about doing the KKK gimmick on an independent. Virgil agreed to it, but it was still a controversy. HHH would tag jobbers for real if they wouldn't comply. Percy wrote all of Undertaker's original promos. Pringle worked as a mortician and 'got' the character. Richard Rood was 'Da Ravishing One'. Raven wrote the infamous Chris Benoit promo at Starrcade 97. Chris got to Scotty backstage and asked him to write him a decent promo. Scotty inked a classic and couldn't wait to hear it before a live crowd. Chris forgot it when it came time, causing heat between the two men🧐. In Canada, Jacques Rougeau was king. He even outdrew and beat Hogan clean for the title. The Beverleys spiked some jobber with the Shaker Heights Spike finisher. The Steiners got them back by stiffing them at the Rumble. Vince gave Hawk a dressing down after he ruined a Vader promo on heat. Tap 'Vader promo Hawk'. Hillbilly Jim was a real hillbilly. Lawler took his theatrics to a whole new level in Memphis. Terry Gene Bollea was 'Da Real American'. Harry Fujiwara was an accomplished sushi chef and would cook for the BSK. Sometimes he'd spike Rodney's food with laxatives.
