Personally, even in bjj, I prefer this way of control rather than jumping on a guys back, especially if you are lightweight like me. Even when having back control on heavier guys, sometimes it feels suffocating and tiring to control, but with a spiral breakdown and wrist control (Dagestani handcuff), you have top control and the other guy carries all the weight. Also belly down RNC is easier when opponent is flattened.

This is awesome! There's not enough grappling for MMA content out there, thanks for this coach

I think I saw Steven Segal do that in Dagestan one time

the side to side spiral ride drill looks like a great one for conditioning, may have to implement that into a class of ours!

Have you done a video on how to get up in the wrestling style from closed guard without giving your back or getting passed while still on the ground?

Love all this stuff, most people focus too much on the submission but lose the position or can't maintain it against a half decent wrestler, Craig Jones has some good stuff on standing up and Volk showed it against Islam that in a real fight it can be hard to keep someone down

3:45 Every police officer should learn basic wrestling. We'd had way less serious incidents, on both sides.

Good stuff as always Coach. How do you address the risk of having the far elbow (flipper arm) trapped by the opponent and get flipped or rolled?
@TeachMeGrappling Жыл бұрын
Its not a big risk when you have a flipper. When you feel off balance, you need to fix it! Either run to that side so you don't fall, or sink your weight down to prevent it.
