Reliving The War takes an in-depth look at the WWF vs WCW "Monday Night War" era of pro wrestling. Week by week every episode of Raw and Nitro gets covered (including every match and every promo) to find out which show was really the best.
This week on WCW Nitro, World Champion Bill Goldberg makes it clear that The Giant is next. Later in the week, at WCW Road Wild 98, Goldberg will compete in the nWo Black and White vs Wolfpac battle royal just so he can get his hands on the big man. Elsewhere on the show we see what happened with Hollywood Hogan and Eric Bischoff visited Jay Leno and The Tonight Show.
On Raw, the mystery continues in regards to The Undertaker's relationship with his brother Kane. Val Venis ends up on the wrong side of Kaientai and Mr. Yamaguchi, Road Warrior Hawk makes a triumphant comeback, and Degenerates Triple H and X-Pac go to war for a shot at The Rock's IC Championship.

On the one hand I was happy to see him, and I understood even back then that he was past his best years. Finally you covered the Raw I attended at the San Diego Sports Arena when I was 13 years old, which was actually taped the previous week on July 27th. I’ve never been to such an electric pro wrestling event before or since, as the crowd was super into it from start to finish. Jerry Lawler and J.R. were introduced before the show to “Welcome to the Jungle” with pyro and explosions. After the show was over, Howard Finkel tells the crowd to stick around for Sunday Night Heat, which I remember more than Raw, and got more excited to see a second show. I was there with my two siblings, my parents, and my two best friends who were brothers. We were all teenagers ranging from 13 to 16 and had an absolute blast. I’ll cherish that memory forever as I got to spend it with my best friends, both of whom I had already known since I was 5 and we grew up together loving pro wrestling. Sadly, one of the brothers passed away unexpectedly at the end of 2021 at the age of 38. Memories like these make me happy I got to share those moments with someone who I loved like a brother, and he’d be thrilled to know that someone has done a retrospective on an event we attended.
