I've been personally waiting on this one, so I wanna take this time to give my personal experience with this show. Apologies in advance for the long comment. This was probably the first PPV I ever remember watching in full. I was born in 1996, so obviously I have no memory of watching this live, but my grandfather recorded this on VHS (as he did all PPVs he bought) and I remember discovering the tape around 5-6 years old, and I LOVED it. I still love it. It introduced me to pretty much every wrestler I would come to love, and pretty much introduced me to wrestling as a whole, as I do remember really beginning to watch wrestling weekly not long after. The energy, the action, the promos, the hype packages, AC/DC on the theme song, HHH's entrance with the DX Band playing him to the ring, and ICP playing Oddities to the ring. It's just perfect. You never forget your first wrestling show and this was mine, I'll never forget it.

What I loved about this show was what happened afterwards. The Rock and Triple H were Main Eventers in waiting. Jeff Jarrett killed his Double J persona for good. Edge looked promising as a future long-term talent. Sympathy for Mankind which led to his unlikely rise. Wanted to see more of the Brothers of Destruction. Stone Cold being The Man. I thought WWF would slide in quality after this show, but they went from strength to strength. Can't wait for future Living the War episodes.

I loved this pay-per-view. 1998 was year I started watching wrestling "full-time" going from a casual fan in the years prior to being a super fan. I can't say as much for the past decade though. Some diamonds in the rough, but wrestling's just too watered down for me now. But I remember this being the first PPV my grandfather letting me stay up late and watch (I was 10 in 1998 and had a bed time). It still remains one of my favorite pay-per-views of all time. I watched the VHS so many times when I was a kid, it probably doesn't even work anymore. I think most of the matches were solid, the Oddities match was not great, but still fun, and HHH vs. The Rock was the MOTN. Despite Taker and Stone Cold not liking their match, I still love it, and that Undertaker leg drop spot from the top rope to the commentary table is still one of my favorite spots of all time. Terrific PPV and love this series, because the Attitude Era was definitely a highlight of my childhood, so thanks Wrestling Bios.

Actually the first pro wrestling event I ever saw of any kind, I was totally hooked from there.

I agree with you this one, and survivor series 98 are the best ppv of the year. I saw survivor series live, the rock turn was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen live

This brings back great memories. I was there with my friend and my mom. We were sitting in the 10th row.

Edge (a future champion & Pro Wrestling legend) being part of the iconic Summerslam ‘98 undercard makes all the sense in the world.. Until you watch this and realize he’s part of a mixed tag match where Sable & Jacqueline are actually the main attractions 😂😂 This might be my favorite WWE event of all time. Thank you for your service, WB 🫡

The downfall of LOD is such a sad story. I can’t believe they let it get to that point. Took a legendary tag team and turned them into a joke.

The attitude era was leaving them behind

i wonder what lead to their downfall? maybe they asked vince to respect women or perhaps they questioned one of shawn's injuries.
@hiddensword9387 Жыл бұрын
@@SylvianLight No, I think they were just older and getting out of shape and the WWE wanted to focus on younger new talent. LOD especially HAWK had substance abuse issues. LOD could be quite petty, remember them no selling Kane and RVD in 2003? one of them got pretty much right back up after a chokeslam and 5 star frog splash. Plus, I think you'll fins a lot of wrestlers treat women a lot worse than what Vince did.

Great video as always. For me this was the peak of the Attitude Era. Mania 14 to SS 98 and after that a new "season" began.
