The fact that This was “The Moment” that made HHH a true “Main Eventer” and also take ‘em seriously as a major heel and we can all thank Mick foley for that, the same person that help Rock, Orton, and Edge show there true potential

This was the first PPV I ever saw as a kid, it started at 1am on Channel 4 in the UK and i tried to stay up and record it but fell asleep. I woke up at 6am and was crushed that I missed it, only to find out my mum knew I’d fall asleep and came in my room and recorded it for me. Absolutely legendary PPV too, Cactus jack vs HHH is a classic. This and Summerslam 2000 two of my favourites.

The way I saw it at 2:47, he almost german suplexed Kurt Angle directly on Kurt's head. For a 'normal' german suplex you put your opponent on his back, while controlling his body the whole way. Whether Tazz himself, Kurt alone or both improvised that landing doesn't matter, risking serious injury for your opponent is a valid reason to halt a push. Unfortunately the interview didn't go into detail on that.

This was where I truly began watching wrestling. Channel 4 started airing Heat that January, and they also had this and some other PPVs air free during the deal that lasted about a year or two. And good god, what a start to it, eh?

I was in the crowd when Cactus Jack 'came back' on Smackdown. That really changed the game (pun intended) and helped establish Foley as a main eventer maker (Triple H and later Orton).

I also remember having to go out for a family dinner when this was on and I was so upset I couldn't watch it all. It was right before the bikini contest started we had to go to dinner... damn. Months later I got the censored VHS copy of the 2000 rumble and I'm sort of glad I didn't see that contest live...

I hope they hold another Royal Rumble in Madison Square Garden in 2028 to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of John Cena's return and victory back in 2008.

Big fan of reliving grand the war and I've been waiting for this review for awhile. This was the first ppv I went to in person and omg when I tell you it was insanely good live it was insanely good live and in person. I remember sitting high up in the waters and when the rumble march began they turned a bright ass light on right in our section to which we all stated a " shut the light off" chant. When I watched the DVD after it came out if you listen real close you can pick up on it. This is one of my favorite memories had a wrestling fan. You were right when you said this was ine if the best shows the wef ever did cause it really was. Tha js for all that you do. I love reliving this part of my life watching RTW and your work is much appreciated

Channel 4 did show some risque and controversial stuff like Eurotrash but they stated that they knew what content were in those shows. Apparently they werent expecting it in the RR so it appears that they never saw modern WWE. Later PPVs started 30 minutes later

@rayvenkman2087 I know but they knew about it beforehand. The Mae Young thing was a shock to the system for fans who watched WWE in 98-99, who knows what newer fans thought. However C4 should have known what WWE was like before they signed the deal

The first that I saw (nearly) live, though I had several on video. A friend of mine and I combined to collect a lot of the major PPVs from 1987 to 1992, plus various "Best of" videos and some later classics like King of the Ring 1998.
