I've noticed a trend where the "loser" usually wins the ratings war for that week. As a whole so far, WCW just feels like a bigger deal. We routinely get to see, Flair, Savage, Sting, Luger, Hogan, the Giant. While on Raw it's maybe the Undertaker, maybe Bret Heart, Maybe Diesel, maybe Razor, but almost always in a squash match. Of course with revisionist history we know that guys like Austin, Goldust, The Hardy's, HHH and others will go on to become great characters for Raw, but at this point they seem inconsequential.
@mitchellima47364 жыл бұрын
I agree with this. Right now nitro feels bigger, tho pre heal turn Hogan is pushing it big time. I like 80s Hogan but early mid 90s hogan was a chore just to watch. I think he's a good wrestler but you could tell he just didn't care and was the ultimate political wrestler brother
@banksta34 жыл бұрын
@@mitchellima4736 During this time I was 13-14. And while I obviously knew wrestling was scripted, I didn't know anything about the backstage politics. But even then I thought it was dumb when Hogan would just brush off an opponents finisher. Or how he'd get stronger, the longer he was in a submission hold. "Hulking Up" almost makes sense in front of a belligerent crowd of 30,000+ people that are all cheering for you. But to do it in every match I ever saw him in was just insulting lol.

Because I was such a big fan of Sting, Benoit, Guerrero, Malenko, Saturn, and Goldberg, I can't help but wish that WCW will win! It wasn't until late 1999/early 2000 that the WWF won me over, e.g. Cactus Jack vs. HHH at Royal Rumble 2000 is still one of my favourite hardcore matches, and the WWF signed a lot of great talent in that period from WCW/ECW.

It's crazy to think that WCW and WWF developed storylines and kept audiences before they both had weekly episodic TV shows i.e. raw starting in 93 and nitro starting in 95. Before that they had ppvs/in your house which didn't start until 95-96, Saturday nights main event, WCW Saturday night, and clash of the champions.

We’ll also be seeimg Steve Austin go cold as stone very soon. The gold chain Austin wears was given to him by Pillman, they were best friends. @jarrodhen80634 жыл бұрын
First of all I love this series and channel and these comments are just food for thought. 2ndly this is your channel and you should do what you feel is best because u do all this hard work for us each week and do it really well. That being said the only thing i don't like is the way the scoring goes exactly. I don't mean who you choose to win each segment. That I believe could always be debated depending on any given persons personal preference. I do "personally" think the scoring and overall winner though is a little miss leading. I understand the whole "Sametime match up" of it but this is going to bed an issue later on when they expand the hours because they whole shows weren't played at the exact same time. Right now being Nitro is always live and the Raw is not they get to set their order up against the WWF at this point 2 out of 3 weeks however they see fit. Which is a huge advantage and is Ultimately the WWFs fault. (I know it changes to WWE down the road. I was a teenager during this time and watched all of this as it happened. But they were the WWF at this time and I will refer to them as that) I think if you really want to know who had a better overall show things like match vs. a recap or a non wrestling promo should not happen. I feel if you want a true account of what was better you should have matches vs matches and promos vs promos ect. Meaning if there are 3 matches on each card they should be judged against each other even if they are presented at different times unless there are different amounts because it's rare that promos get "a point" over matches unless they are obvious enhancement matches. (Like Owen Hart 💪 vs John "Jobber" Hopkins 👩🏭 or something when you Owen will win. This is where i say it's actually "Misleading" and why I think the ratings are allot different then the scores we have been seeing. WCW will get the point for the week by winning say 4 segments to 2 on any given week. However even though they won more segments doesn't mean it was actually all to together a better show to me. They can very narrowly win their segments and get blownout in the ones they don't but still win because they won more segments. If for instance you rated the segments on a 1-10 scale or something of the sort you might see the shows outcome differently. Example being WCWs segment ratings could be 4, 6, 2, 3, 6, and 8 for a total of 29 points Then WWFs segment ratings are 9, 5.5, 1, 2, 10, and 7.75 for a total of 35.25 points. So WCW won more segments but the WWF actually had a more points and a better overall score. Like a 9 inning baseball game between Yankees and Tigers that ended 11-8. Dispite Tigers scoring more runs in 5 of the innings and the Yankees only outscoring the Tigers in 2 of the innings the Yankees still win the game because they outscored the Tigers by a combined 9 runs in those 2 innings and the Tigers only outscored the Yanks by 6 in the 5 innings they won. This might actually help in eliminating sooner if the ties as well..... I understand it is probably way too late to change the scoring for the future and again this is just food for thought and regardless I think you do a really really really good job for us and I appreciate and thank you for all the hard work you do to present us with these videos and I will soon be a Patreon supporter for you without a doubt.
@morganfarlie4 жыл бұрын
I scrolled through the first 20 comments and I saw a distinct lack of discussion that Raw ACTUALLY got a point this week. I love the way you do your best to be fair about this scoring system and look at the objectively better segments here and Raw WAS the better TV show, ratings be damned. Keep up the great work Bios, I love watching this :D

Real K i think Eddie could have been a draw on his own, he was very charismatic, he may have just made the dance a little late. Additionally, some of the guys back then weren’t really well suited to helping him show his in ring greatness. Then the smackdown six happened and people began loving Eddie. His Latino Heat/Lie Chest Steal gimmick was big time over. I agree that despite his amazing in ring work Benoit was never going to be the draw in the states that the others would be, but Eddie very well could have been. And Rey Mysterio was over like rover and could have been moved up the card very slowly. As the ultimate underdog babyface with a mesmerizing move and skill set he didn’t have to talk much to get over.

The Public Enemy were out of their element, so it was believable to me that they would have trouble with the American Males. Grunge and Rocco had to wrestle a match with structure and rules and couldn't get into a wild brawl - where they would excel. It's like that time in WCW where Sabu got DQ'd for putting someone through a table. That was great. It showed that Sabu was "uncivilized." He was outside the rules of the company. It put him over and it put the rules over. Rules are so important in wrestling, because it's easier to tell stories. It would have been great to see Sabu continue to get DQ'd until someone said, "you know what? I'm tired of you. I'll beat you at your own game" and then we'd see Sabu shine in a no-DQ match at a PPV or something. Or maybe he gets a manager that tries to straighten him up and control him.
