Reliving The War takes a look at the entire WWF vs WCW Monday Night War on a weekly basis. With WCW Nitro airing on TNT at the same time as WWF Raw is War on USA Network fans had to make a choice, the Monday Night TV ratings battles would to lead to pro wrestling becoming extremely popular with both shows setting records in terms of viewership and revenue.
The Outsiders return to Nitro this week but they don't plan on getting in the ring anytime soon; Nash is still "retired" and Scott Hall says he'll only return to work when WCW is fun again. Sting & The Total Package take on Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair in the main event, and Bret Hart wrestles Chris Benoit in a special Owen Hart memorial match (considered one of the greatest matches in Nitro history)
On Raw this week Triple H brings good ole JR into the ring again while promising no harm will come to the WWF's lead commentator (this turned out to be a lie). Mick Foley feels that the tag team between him and the Rock is reaching an end but before the Rock 'n' Sock connection split up they're interrupted by Chris Jericho. Rock also takes jabs at Juventud Guerrera, and Juvi replies with a People's Elbow over on Nitro.

I've seen him do a similar bump when he was a kid on World of Sport, but that was twenty years before this and those rings had boxing-style pads over the entire post not just the three turnbuckles. Maybe he flashed back to when he was 17 for a second and forgot where he was 😂

I saw it speculate they re-signed Davey and gave him a push because they wanted to get as many Harts onside as possible as they thought Martha was going to sue them over Owen's death. No idea if that is true but Davey's ride is kind of wild. Spring 1998 to Autumn 1998: Essentially a jobber in WCW. Autumn 1998 to Summer 1999: Get's seriously injured, to the point where they thought he may not walk properly again. Gets fired by WCW whilst in the hospital, then goes into physical rehab August 1999 to October 1999: Get's rehired by the WWF and immediately gets a main event push, working programmes with Triple H, The Rock and Vince McMahon simulatenously. Loses a PPV match to The Rock November 1999 to December 1999: Drops into the mid card with the European title, which he loses by the end of the year January 1999 to May 2000: Barring the odd match here and there, is largely off TV and a non entity when on it May 2000: Released

I remember reading or being told that WWF were in negotiations for resigning Davye before Owen passed away. As in Owen helped facilitate that early on, but then him passing on made things awkward. But the guy needed to make money for his family somehow.

If I remember correctly, the significance of the G vs E actors being on RAW in a bit with Mick was that Mick guest starred in an episode of G vs E as Mankind. I never got into the show, it was a science fiction detective show where the main characters had to investigate supernatural occurrences. It was basically an early version of the show "Supernatural" with more opportunities taken to show smut that was safe for TV.

Hi WrestlingBios. I'm a 90's kid and only got into wrestling this year lol. It's the wrestlers from the 80's to 2000's that peak my interest. The aesthetic/design of the WWF/WWE was more distinct and 'rough' which is appealing. These recap videos are EXACTLY what I'm looking for to relive the glory days. I'm still learning the wrestlers names and terminology so I find myself rewinding quite a bit but I'll get there. Your commentary and added context is greatly appreciated. Even smaller things like how you like Goldberg's expressions in the ring. People like me don't know those details. The Rock's Final Boss heel turn in Wrestlemania 40 is what finally peaked my interest and your Hulk Hogan series is what cemented it. Thanks for sharing your passion

I had just started seventh grade and attended this show with my brother and uncle. We sat fourth row ringside as my cousin had some hookups in the area. Those are still the best seats I've ever had. Looking back, it wasn't all that memorable of a Raw, but we were young and soaked up all the 1999 WWF glory. The one thing i do remember for some reason is the next night was the SmackDown taping where Droz was tragically paralyzed.

This is it: The end of of pre-Russo WCW. While I'm sure the next two episodes of Nitro will be a bit more subtle in what exactly Russo & Ed Ferrara write for the show, since they have to continue what's been set up for Halloween Havoc, once we get to the PPV itself & beyond it's going to be an... interesting time for WCW, that's for sure. Meanwhile, we now enter the late Chris Kreski's run as WWF head writer, and while his run certainly won't be 100% perfect it's going to be an exciting time for the WWF, that's for sure.

There's one more Nitro on 10/11/99 before Russo and Ferrara start writing on the 18th, along with the return of Jeff Jarrett.

Mick Foley is so nice even when a fan gets into the ring he just pushes him down and gets him out of the ring. Anybody else would have given him a thrashing lol.

Did you see Randy Savage try to murder the fan who got in the ring, a few weeks back? As immobile as he was in 1999, he could have still easily messed that kid up for life if the referees and security hadn't pulled him away.

Oh wow I can't believe I forgot all about RTW yesterday! Well better late than never lol... also, X-Pac's heel turn is still a ways away, Tori's not even in the picture yet. Also also, I don't say it enough but this is the absolute best retro wrestling series ever and you deserve a medal for all the work you put in for us, and we ALL appreciate it... you rule, Ryan! Oh and one last thing... "some jabroni named Juventud" is, was and always will be my favorite Rock line ever

If I got the numbers right, Goldberg beat Jerry Flynn on TV thirteen times. That's once a week for over three months! I always thought Rock and Jericho had good chemistry together, both as opponents and as teammates.
