WWF Raw was released for Xbox and PC in 2002, giving fans a new way to experience WWF / WWE games. A new development team was brought onboard to handle this microsoft exclusive release, and fans were hoping to recreate big WWF matches such as Steve Austin vs The Rock and Kane vs The Undertaker. What fans got can only be described as disappointing, WWF Raw may have impressed those who didn't play on Sony consoles but the game struggled to excite grapple fans.
With a roster that includes Triple H, Kane, The Hardy Boyz, The Rock, Eddie Guerrero and Steve Austin, Raw looked promising. A lack of match types, a basic 1 player experience and some slow gameplay was enough to turn fans away. With being the only officially licensed WWF / WWE game on Xbox (up to that point in time), fans would need to look elsewhere or wait a little longer for a better wrestling experience on Microsoft's console.

OMG YES! I used to be a Trucker in the early 2000's and This was the only game I had and would play any chance I was able to snag a cheap room somewhere when the luxury allowed. Some matches would still trigger some of my trip memories for sure. So glad this one was finally done. Thank you so much for several reasons.

@@ryangibbs6786 Well.. I was IN a room not driving.. Its been 20 years, I'm guessing its safe. Nah.. we did do these things called shims. Caffeine pills.. 2 or 3 of those and.. it was LIKE mushrooms.. but normally just one was 'recommended'. Many a stunner was performed on 3 shims. :)

while it didnt play as good as the smackdown series, the level of customization in this game compared to the smackdown series was off the charts. i remember being blown away using music off the xbox hard drive for entrances and just how much you had control over.

True. I did not like much smackdown first. It was too Arcade and dumb. Winning matches in 14 seconds lol. I even won a rumble in less than 5 minutes. 😂

🙏💯 when creating entrance in raw 2, you could apply lights for almost every part of the ramp,ring,stage,etc. It was truly unique. Being able to completely change a superstars attire to almost anything,the attires that were options were awesome and unlimited

One thing I will always give massive credit to, is the fact that they NAILED the ambiance and atmosphere for the arena, and was the first game the lights actually came from the lighting rig. (Raw 2 improved on this. You wouldn't see any improvements in lighting until 2k15 when the lights actually would move on the rigs) They also had 10/10 on the camera angles during entrances. The spotlights sweeping to the stage, and the boom camera going from ringside to the ramp, was exactly how it was during that time on television.

My parents couldn't afford a PS2, so everyone had SVR 2006 and I had this one on pc with a roster I didn't knew most of the wrestlers, because I've only started watching in 2005, so no Cena or Batista for me... but hey, at least I got a little hyped when I figured that Bradshaw was JBL, so that's a win, I guess... xD

DUDE those were horrid games. No selling getting up in milliseconds after finishers the PS1 smackdown games were painful to play. Smackdown Games didn't get good until Shut Your Mouth. They didn't get great until Smackdown Here Comes The Pain.

I really wanted to love this game at first when I first got my original Xbox for Christmas at age 14 since I was a huge WWF fanatic and was excited for a WWF game taking place on a next gen/new gaming system.....but I couldn't. The gameplay was terrible and was kind of disappointed they didn't include any of the Invasion angle stars. It was so unfinished. I will say the game did have pretty good to decent graphics for it's time and a really badass cover art but that's it.

RAW 2 was my first wrestling game after getting into WWE television. I remember playing it with a friend while waiting for Royal Rumble 2004 to start on PPV. I've fallen in love with the game and still play it occasionally to this day. It may not be the best, but you never forget your first. :D

I remember being in high school and seeing this game on Game Informer, before the game came out and I was blown away at the time. I didn't have an Xbox so didn't get to play it, I had a PS and the Smackdown Games were the only thing I was playing. When I finally got an Xbox, RAW 2 had just come out and I like that game. Wrestlemania 21... It was fun, I guess BUT it was buggy AF, so I got rid of it a couple months after I bought it and this was before you can do updates to fix these games. Can't wait to see your video on RAW 2 and WM21.

It was the first wrestling game I owned that had full titantrons in CAW for current roster stars. 13 year old me was very happy getting access to Torrie Wilson and Stacy Keiblers titantrons.

I had the PC version of this and at the time it was the best wrestling game for PC. The PC got shafted for wrestling games. Bop and wrestle and WWF wrestlemania the arcade game and WWF In Your House, were the only options back in the 90s.

We also got WCW Nitro and Thunder though, which of course sucked monkeyballs. So sad. Characters in these games looked great, but the animations were absolutely stiff, plus the games feel like it was played at 200% speed. ^^

I played this game when I was a little kid and it was pretty great because this was the only wrestling PC game that we got before 2k15. There was a huge modding community in the mid-2000s for this game, they added completely new stuff such as finishers, arenas, superstars, etc.

Raw 2 was better, but that wasn’t saying much. It was more fun, don’t get me wrong, but I remember I had my friends over the day I got it, and we were having a blast playing ladder match. But an hour later, and there was still no winner. We actually stopped playing and tested how long it takes to take down the belt uninterrupted, and it literally took 3 minutes. How is anyone supposed to win a ladder match when it takes 3 minutes to take down the belt. Little things like that ruined what was a promising game series.

I liked it back then and had a fair share of fun with it. I was playing on PC back then and the only games we had before were WCW Nitro and WCW Thunder, so WWF RAW was a huge step in the right direction.

I remember when WWF Warzone came out and totally changed the wrestling game landscape. At the time it was an amazing game, but it was insanely difficult and frustrating to play because of the way you initiated moves. It didn't have the easy grapple/strong grapple but instead to do moves you have to use button combos just like in Mortal Kombat. (something like back, down, forward, x might initiate a DDT) So you would end up pausing the game every couple of minutes to figure out how to do moves, especially finishers because those required an even longer button sequence.

This is the 1st Wrestling game I ever played on my PC 12 years ago. I played this game in different mods (2002, Power is back, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2014). I had a lot of fun over the years with the game, then I've played the entire RAW vs SD game series on PSP emulator on PC and I've also played Smackdown Here Comes The Pain and WWE 13 still on emulators on PC but now I'm playing WWE 2k18 and 19 on Xbox One and hopefully I'll play 2k22 one day.

Was so excited by the first trailer but so underwhelmed by the game. Literally only one arena? Weird walking animations? I think it was the pressure from Microsoft to get this game out early. The same kind of developmental turmoil destroyed the potential of Raw 2 also. Anchor Inc. was just not treated well and not given their time.
