@@AithlynC _A bit???_ It's almost all WCW did from the very beginning -- at least from the very beginning of our tale just prior to the appearance of the NWO. No clean endings, constant "swerves," tons of people charging the ring and mobs having what looked like slap fights, just total nonsense. Clearly Bischoff and then Russo never met a trope they didn't abuse, overuse, and then continue beating long after the trope was dead.

if nothing else, this series has given me a deeper appreciation for savio vega. when i was younger, i didn't think much of him, but man what a work horse.

I remember liking him enough...but its also funny listening to later interviews with people like Bret Hart who mention Vega by name as good to work with. Its just not a name i often expect to get thrown around 15 years later.

I always liked Savio Vega. I think he was a bit underrated. He seemed to work hard for the company and showed some good moves in the ring. The were much worse wrestlers at that time in WWE.

Then went on a 10 minute story about Puerto Rico. He said he loves to visit as you can steal from the people and they are cowards so you don’t have to worry about them standing up for themselves And how he would smash and ruin the locals food carts or cars. It’s amazing to relive this time period. As you mentioned, WCW was really floundering right before the Outsiders/nWo angle debuted. Even though I was watching at the time, years later I still thought they just dominated in ‘96 entirely. If the angle never came to be, it’s interesting to think about where WCW would have gone story wise. Probably just more Hogan, brother.

Goldust is the biggest guy I recall regularly taking the 'inside-out' bump and he did it so well. Savio Vega was tremendously underrated and I hope he gets the HoF honour eventually. He really helped keeping things together during the dark years. And damn (!), Benoit and Guerrero were so awesome. We all hate what Benoit did in his final hours, but he was one of the greatest I have ever seen.

The golden age of wrestling was the 70s to mid eighties, dozens of territories were thriving and could sell out arenas. I would call the attitude era more of the bronze age of wrestling, very good but too much hotshoting and realistically only two big territories. I would say the silver age was the 50s when roughly 30% of the television viewing public watched some type of pro wrestling.

Several years ago, my friend and I used to go to the local wrestling shows every time there was one, and Justin Credible (Aldo Montoya), was at every show either in the audience, or just hanging out with the workers. It seemed that every other damn show, me and my friend would go to a random restraunt, or bar, Justin Credible was there. After a while, because we would chat with him at all the shows, and then run into him afterward, we constantly ended up sitting together at the place afterward just chilling. There was a LOT of Aldo Montoya jokes. Haha!
