Thanks for this upload. I attended a couple of events around the early 1990s where Ricky Steamboat wrestled as "The Dragon." I remember enjoying watching him wrestle because he kept a quick pace. I also remember that when he brought the fire to the ring, I could feel its heat from where I was sitting. You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned how wrestling promoters wasted their talents back then and still do. I guess they either never learn or don't care--I'm inclined to believe the latter.

Flair always had a good judgement of who was really deserving of it. He really could measure wrestlers in ring abilities, their heart, and their passion for the sport. He wouldn't drop the title to just anyone. He saw what Steamboat could do, how the crowd reacted, and how much draw power he had, something Vince McMahon never could see. This is why NWA and even later WCW featured him well. You had to have the best proctor of the ring measure you up first, and that man was Flair.

I had just been introduced to wrestling in 1977, right before Steamboat started in Mid-Atlantic. I remember a few interviews he and Wahoo McDaniels were doing when Flair and Greg Valentine came out to interrupt. On (I think) the second occasion, Steamboat got upset, Flair laughed and asked what he was gonna do about it, and Steamboat laid him out with a backfist. That is what prompted Flair to come out the following week and attack Steamboat, rubbing his face into the concrete. I wish there was video of that, but understand that when Crocket was running low on money, they began taping over some of their other shows. Such a same the beginning of the feud is lost
