I remember the infamous Syracuse incident. Despite Vince's milking it and making Shawn look like the victim, everyone knew that wasn't the case. Shawn was "coming on to" a Marine's girlfriend, refused to stop doing that when asked to stop and that was what led to "the beat-up." I met Shawn personally--he was/is the only wrestler that made me feel like I was walking on eggshells. Other people have told me similarly--that Shawn had(has)an "I'm holier than thou" personality.

Al Snow (A. K. A. Leif Cassidy at this time), worked EASILY one of the worst matches here against Shawn Michaels...and with those botched moves on Leif's part, that could've completely derailed Shawn's match against Bret "The Hitman" Hart at Wrestlemania 12 that year, especially since that particular Wrestlemania was only about a week away. I don't blame Shawn for going off on Leif Cassidy, after such a horrible match. Is it any wonder that Al Snow didn't have what I would call a true push, title-wise, in the Then-WWF? Instead, he was put in a stupid gimmick, where he had to use a Mannequin's Head, and had to basically demean himself, just to have a job, & earn a paycheck!
@ronaldshank75893 жыл бұрын
@@shindra86 I personally wouldn't be surprised if those things happened to Leif Cassidy (A. K. A. Al Snow)! Shawn Waltman and Kevin Nash were tight, and I believe they were, along with Triple H, Scott Hall, & Shawn Michaels, the core members of that infamous little group known as "The Kliq". If ya messed with one of 'em, ya caught it from ALL of 'em!

Also remember next week that another big part of the Attitude Era puzzle debuts on WWE Raw! It's a wonder that, even at this point, we're seeing the building blocks of what would be a big wrestling boom take hold right now. Steve Austin, The Undertaker (he was always there, though), Nash, Hall, the eventual Al Snow, we have Sting one year prior to a HUGE makeover for his character that would reinvent him and get his even MORE over than he already was, Goldust doing what he was doing well before the WWE decided to go down the Attitude route, and the man coming in next week that would move the needle more. We didn't know it then, but this was becoming quite the time to be a wrestling fan.

Thanks for this trip down wrestling's memory lane. I remember the Raw match that featured Shawn vs. Al Snow(a.k.a. Leif Cassidy)when Bret was on commentary. I thought that his commentary was not only PURE GOLD; Bret also smiled more which I loved seeing. I couldn't help but notice that after he pulled Shawn's leg and Bret's intervened, Marty seemed to be cowering during Bret and Shawn's "heated discussion"--he just stood there. From what happened in the match, I wondered how low the communication level really was--this affirmed what I wondered.

The next time we'd see the Hulkster would be Bash at the Beach 96 when he turned heel.
