Iirc, that was during their first feud in 98. Luna was still upset during their second feud in early 99. Sable was more difficult. The first feud excuse was she wasn’t a wrestler and needed to be carried. The second feud was that stage of Sable flat out refusing wrestling and Marc taking over working her matches. Luna (RIP) mentioned Marc reworked the match, and I think some of the stories of arguments and fights with Marc stem from here.

That Sable/Luna match; This was around the time that Sable was at her worst backstage, and I guess she and Mero tried repeatedly to get the match delayed claiming she'd never been in a strap match before and needed more time to train, then also made threats of no-showing, so WWE caved and made it clear to Luna she couldn't hit Sable with the strap. I think in the next month or two after this match is when Sable randomly showed up in the crowd of Nitro while still under contract to WWE. This was the first WWE PPV being broadcast on my country's local TV, even if it didn't happen by the date of the event , it was a very exciting thing in '99 for me who was the only WWE kid at school. I also remember how shocking was having Mankind getting chair headshots until he "died", some years later i saw what happened in the doccumentary when the lovely Noelle got traumatized for life lmao Great event, good memories, thanks WB team for this.

Little note: Steve Blackman was also one of Jerry Lawlers 3 picks to win the rumble! Cole and Lawler reference it a few times on comms during the rumble. Thought you might have made comment on it hehe. Regardless, Lawler could see Blackman’s class.

Im not sure why but Royal Rumbles were my favourite PPV's to watch

Because rumbles are super chaotic and fun to watch, it’s not hard to see why you enjoy it. Counting down and seeing who comes out next is always fun.

Those 'Stats & Facts' this year for the rumble were making me giggle every time.

Great video WB! I am also a fan of this show and we share many of the same sentiments. The entrant cards for the Rumble were also excellent! I hope they come back for 2000.

the infographics before the entrance were magical edge "you think you know him" made me laugh like an idiot for 3 minutes

Woooooooooooo Its cool to see wwe using factions so well while not losing the shine on any of the solo talent. Big moment in the war. I had friends who went to the show. Excited for all that comes after this each and every week. Do you plan on continuing the wwe story after the war in episodic fashion? Finish out the attitude ear?

Another PPV I was excited to see get covered. I was only 13 years old when me and my brother saw this live in Anaheim. So many fond memories. I’m a huge Foley mark so that was definitely hard to watch. I remember making a sign that said “Who will win the 30 man Royal Rumble” with man scratched out and “Person” written above it. I thought this was so clever.

You are truly the Aldi/Lidl’s of wrestling music and I mean that in the most positive sense. Exceptional content as always.

I’ve been watching this series from the start and I love some of these little changes like the new background music for the Rock vs mankind match. Love these tiny details

As a lot of us are about to start the work week tomorrow it reminds me that some days we are the chair and some days we are Mankind. Have a nice day.

Sources say that Luna was told by McMahon, Russo & others to take it easy on Sable to not be to rough on her, or "Else"

My favourite ppv ever. My poor family manahed to stretch to sky for a year or so. So I'd started watching wrestling again right after The Rock became champion. I was enthralled every Friday night here in the uk and counted down the days to this ppv.

Wasn't he in the 94 one or was that the one where he won the tag belts with Holly? 🤔

I remember watching the PPV with my family as a young kid and my mom was horrified at the I Quit match. After rewatching it a year back, can't say I don't share her sentiment.
