My favorite thing about The giant coming to WWF is that he was billed as "No Gimmick Needed... PAUL WIGHT!". After 2 weeks he still had zero crowd reaction so "WELLLLLL IT'S THE BIG SHOWWWW!"

Seeing The Giant coming to WWF was symbolic if you think about it. Other than X-Pac, Paul Wight joining the WWF was a sign that things were changing for the better. Big Show was smart to get out of WCW when he did.

Honestly him leaving WCW for the WWF started a little bit of a trend of guys leaving for the WWF. Jumping the sinking ship for the better. There is a debut in August that will never ever make the WWF the same again

X-Pac, Big Show and Jericho were the biggest jumps. You can say the Radicalz, but it took them quite a while to gain traction after Eddie's injury, if at all.

@@michaelreich4827Not really. They feuded with DX their first week, then turned on Foley and feuded with him a tiny bit but mostly Too Cool and Rikishi. Then at WrestleMania Benoit became ic champ and spent most of the year as the ic champ, when he wasn't, he was having ppv main events with Rock over the WWF title. Eddie got featured more the night after Mania when he won the European title and got with Chyna. They all hit the ground running, and Benoit and Guerrero never fizzled out.

WWF starting to steal stars with noone going in the opposite direction is what ended the war really and made it clear wwf had won. With the popularity wwf lost post war, they should have released a few wrestlers for WCW to keep things interesting, promising midcarders to wcw and take them back after WCW develops them

Another underrated aspect of Paul Wight's debut is, for a few seconds, it seems to lock in a double main event for WrestleMania of The Rock/Mankind (unfinished business from their match having no winner) and Austin/Big Show (revenge for costing him the Mania main event), only for the surprise finish of the cage panel giving out to sow the actual seeds. A low key good job there to make the finish work even better!

You really got to give Vince credit here for taking that beating. Especially with that table spot where you could have legitimately broke something. This is basically a one match card, but it's one that elevates the PPV as a whole from mostly forgettable to "Huh, that is interesting." I was excited for this because it's when Paul Wright joins the WWE, and what an introduction!

This is the why he will always be the no.1 villain in wrestling, the evil boss character humilllated and tormented alot of the talent but he also got his ass kicked a bunch, vince was okay with being the other receiving end and that made him entertaining. Its why stephanie never worked as an antagonist, she was just invincible and will never receive any karma at all while burying the talent. For all the non-stop bitching and moaning of the marks on the internet, vince mamahon was one of the biggest talents in the WWF peak, it wasnt just rock and stone cold but also his character that largely contributed to the victory of the WWF.

It was my bday and had a huge party at showtime pizza with all my friends from school and then after I had choice to watch this or get a n64 rumble pack. Of course I chose this and when I told people at school the next day that the giant came out from under the ring nobody believed me. Was basically the last days I remember being innocent and happy. Month after this my parents split up and I moved and never saw any of my friends again. Brings back old memories and feelings of a better life.
