To me, the odd thing about the Dangerous Alliance is a great promo manager with 5 great heels who *all* were reliably good promos themselves. Eaton is probably the weakest on the mic, but even he wasn't bad at it. Usually a heel stable has one or two who are are good in the ring but terrible on the mic by the rest of the stable. Here with DA, it's almost a waste to have so many good promo guys together.
@TJ523593 жыл бұрын
as good as they have proven to be on the mic, I think there's an issue of perception... Austin had yet to be given full free run with a mic... Arn was Fresh out of the Horsemen where Flair, JJ & Tully all handled the mic better (or at least more often) Rude's gimmick, no matter how well he does with the "I need you out of shape _______ sweat hogs..." benefits from him having a 'Pimp/Madame', Eaton, like Arn, could have been God's gift to the English Language, but he was overshadowed by Cornette for so long Zbysko arriving w/o baggage/serious History really is the odd man out But i think the answer lies in Paul riding herd on these stallions... why else would they unite (beyond maybe any two forming a tag team to keep busy) and who else could keep that many egos in check to stop any/all of them from assuming 'control' for themselves

Have to say that Austin wasn’t the promo man he became, this early in his career. Eaton was ok but never really had to talk he had Cornette and he really was a southern style wrestler and that’s pretty much all he needed up till the business started to change. All the others could do both very well especially Arn. There hasn’t really been another group like this other than evolution, at the time Orton and Batista were the most unproven in promos but all of them have gone on to legend status just like the Dangerous alliance.

I remember that Saturday Night with Rick Rude because during his interview segment, Ross co-host (the singer from the group Alabama) actually asked Rude why he left WWF and I was shocked because back then you rarely acknowledged "the other guy" much less outright say their name. Rude gave an answer about basically not liking his position there so he left. I remember it making things awkward. I wonder if he got the ok for that question before he asked it? Sure didn't edit it out so somebody didn't mind. Also, the Dangerous Alliance are Very underrated. Not as good as the Horsemen but far superior to stuff like NWO, which was interesting for a month until EVERYBODY joined and it lost focus and became bloated. It was all of my favorite wrestlers at the time converging into one stable (I'll always be a Stunning Steve fan over Stone Cold). It was my dream team. And great to see these WCW reviews and positive at that! For far too long, many younger fans swallowed the WWE revisionist BS (history written by the victors and all that) that WCW was some poorly ran bush league group, but people can now see, yeah WCW wasn't up to snuff production wise but so what? This is wrestling not the Oscars. It's what in the ring that counts and honestly the WCW was better than WWF in general. Thought that back then, still think it.

Look at how Larry Zybysko joined the Dangerous Alliance. He just kind of wandered in as Heyman was announcing the group’s formation. It is, however, a perfect metaphor for how he got into wrestling. He wandered into someone’s backyard. That someone just happened to be Bruno Sammartino.

Everytime I turn on a wrestling with wregret video, I start thinking of breakfast sandwiches and naps. For six years on dialysis, I used to eat one before my recovery nap after dialysis on Wednesday mornings. The videos were always a fun entertaining way to get a little wrestling content in right after a tough dialysis treatment. Thanks Brian!

Thank you for sharing that, friend! I know how hard dialysis can be so I'm glad to hear you've been toughing it out!

This channel reminds me of the last good show that comes on during the Saturday morning cartoon block, before it turns into a random mid day cooking show for 3 hours. As soon as this goes off, you go play outside for 26 hrs straight, then eat pizza and watch rented movies from blockbuster all night. Also, I’m very high so that’s the best description I can give.

Mannnn, I can’t help but say it after marathoning so many of your videos as of recent: you’re a killer impressionist.

One of the best War Games matches

It's still the Gold Standard of Wargames matches. It had non-stop action and pretty much had the best workers in the company in that match. Damn near close to perfect.

Easily one of my favorite WarGames matches, I just wish WWE and NXT kept the concept of keeping the roof on the cage instead of having no roof at all

Seeing Tracey Smothers and Bobby Eaton on this show reminded me of going to meet and greets in Tennessee and Georgia with my grandma as a kid in the 90s. She was a big territory wrestling fan and you shoulda seen her popping for some of those babyfaces from the 60s and 70s. Tracey and Bobby stood out in my memory because they were both nice and down to earth enough to talk excitedly to a little kid. Only the good die young proves to be truer the older I get.

I appreciate that he pointed out that the venue is still there, also how close it is to another venue in the area.

I wonder what Hughes did to keep his sunglasses on in the ring. The hand catch looks way better than the constant need for colliding crossbodies for that spot. Then they did the collider anyways. lol. Scott's never struck as the brighter of the two. lol. I'd blame stubbornness and likely being concussed. That'd honestly explain a good portion of that match on them being dazed and just deciding to fuck each other up. It's always interesting to look back and see how integral Paul Heyman has been to the wrestling industry. That jackhammer looks funny as hell, but considering there's no platform, his head was probably getting bounced between the rings. By all accounts, having not watched it, it looks like a great match all around. Told it's story and made great use of the structure.

The Steiner Brothers invented Suplex City 💪 the War Games match is fantastic. So much talent involved. Austin sure got juicy 🩸in the cage. RIP Bobby Eaton
