As for your query regarding written statements, I must clarify that as per the first rule of pleading, a written statement should only plead facts and not law. Pleading case laws or legal provisions in a written statement is tantamount to pleading law, which violates the first rule of drafting of pleadings. However, during the hearing of oral arguments or in written notes of arguments, you can certainly cite case laws to support your arguments. It is important to note that while citing case laws, you should ensure that they are relevant to the case at hand and add value to your arguments. I hope this helps to clear your doubts.
