Completely false, I would correct and say don't ever allow your pet or any family member to have a procedure done without checking the surgeons experience with that specific type of surgery. I have worked in the past at a large chain veterinarian hospital and they are some of the most experienced because of the volume they see. While that also has its pros and cons I can only speak for my experience after seeing their consistent well practiced protocol. I don't understand why Bella was not kept or taken for monitoring overnight wherever it was offered. This is really sad and unfortunate for the family. You can see his pain for thier loss. That's a tough one.

I worked as a veterinary technician for a decade and ultimately changed careers because of the way corporations have overtaken the industry. Pet care is no longer about quality, it’s about quantity. Corporations hire the youngest vets with the least experience because they can pay them the lowest salaries. It’s why I always take my pets to older, more experienced vets at locally-owned clinics. Experience matters.

This is horrific. Non pet owners don't understand. A dog/per is as close to family as a non-human can be. I'd be in shambles. My dog broke his leg in 2 places after getting caught in a patio step. 8k for the surgery. We ate that. I wasnt going to let him die. Totally worth it.

I'm so sorry. Both my collies are dead. Cream was 6 years old and healthy. Passed Nov 10th. Peach was 9 years old and healthy. Passed Dec 30th. Both started having seizures out of the blue. When I took Cream into the ER vet, they said he was the 5th dog brought in that day with seizures and all were cattle dogs! Nobody seems to want to find out WHAT OR WHY! You should never feed smaller, splintery bones to dogs. I warn my family about this continually. They want to argue and feed them the bones anyway. Most people figure that that's the way their parents and grandparents fed their dogs, so it must have been okay. It wasn't. Chicken and turkey bones are the most lethal. It's not worth it to risk it. Sorry for the loss. If you get another dog, please do not feed it bones. 4:05

The $500 was probably charged because the wound fell apart due to the dog chewing at the incision. If a simple dehiscence occurs, the charge doesn't happen. If the dog causes the damage, the charge does. But that part of the story won't be told because then it makes the owner look irresponsible and grief means they need to blame someone other than themselves.

Just because a procedure is cheaper don’t mean it’s worth it.. I lost my dog to a pet clinic that had no idea what they were doing. Sometimes even an independent supposedly respected Veterinarian can also make horrible mistakes. I lost my beloved Pug due to Total Incompetence! He talked me into an unnecessary surgery for supposed cancer. Weeks after she died, he had the Nerve to call me up and say “good news” she doesn’t have cancer! I said you don’t care that my beloved family member died!? His response was, oh then you can come in at any time to pay your bill now. (thousands of dollars!) I was Retraumitized and also Livid - she died due to his Greed - he scared me into an unnecessary surgery and we lost her. 💔😢 It’s not only Corporate Vets! So sorry Bella passed away like this. Oh my gosh, this exact same thing happened to us!! Except it was a vet not Petco. We happen to be looking at her and me, and my nephew got to her and grabbed her intestines and held them in just in time!! I cried all the way to the hospital and all the way home she did make it. It was poor suturing. She lived almost a year after that. My heart hurts for these sweet people. It was very traumatizing for all of us!

If you love your pet NEVER EVER take them to Petco or Petsmart for veterinarian care. Go through your local animal shelters for referrals to animal hospitals that will provide loving care on a budget to your furbaby.

I had this happen to a dog way back in the 80's, with a crooked spay and intestines falling out. This was through a regular veterinarian, private practice. The dog later died even after a repair. Even a regular vet can blow a surgery. Real sorry for this man's pain.

My pitbull clips her own nails. One night, she clipped all of her nails with her teeth and came up to me while I was on the internet on my phone. She very gently took my thumbnail in her mouth and obviously planned to clip my fingernails. Of course, I didn't let her but it was so adorable.

My dog was hit by a car a year ago. I paid top dollar to have his leg fixed, I wasn't taking any chances. I didn't even have the money but thankfully my work knows how close I am to my dog so they loaned me the $5000 dollars. It took over a year to pay off but it was the best decision I could have made. He is like a RoboCop dog now or something, and he totally knows what I did for him. It also brought him closer to the other dogs in the house.

I had an Akita that we found on the bathroom floor with blood pouring from his nose. Took him to an emergency vet hospital. He was in intensive care, had blood transfusions. Did all kinds of tests & couldn’t figure out what was wrong. About several months later & his losing part of his bladder, they did an expanded Tick panel & he was found to have Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. His vet bills totaled over 15 grand. We never regretted paying for his care. Unfortunately, he passed at age seven. I believe all the medication he was on while trying to fix him may have done other damage. It was a big bill, but no regrets, he was a great dog.

My 14 yo dog (Josie) died after visiting the groomers. After I picked her up from the groomers she wasn't acting right and on the way to the ER vet she began to actively die. This all happened in September of last year, so it's only been a few months and the groomers pet store paid for everything including her cremation. I know exactly how these people are feeling, I'm so sorry they had to experience this horrible tragedy. May their beautiful pup rip.

So I would take her here all the time. Last time, I decided to get her fully groomed to make her feel happy and clean. The guilt I feel tremendous and should have just got her toenails trimmed instead. She also had a heart condition, I'm not mad at the groomer but I am at the vet who didn't offer me meds for her heart condition.

​@@deathbycake7637what exactly caused her death from the grooming? Just curious. My dog had congestive heart failure. We had him on meds and cbd oil and I cooked all his meals. But his coughing and choking just kept getting worse. The last few nights me and my mom just stayed with him up all night giving him breathing treatments and crying. Just waiting. The 3rd day we decided it was time... he woke up like he used to before he got sick. He was happy and smiling and being cute. We wrapped him up and put his little hat on because it was snowing outside. We took him to his vet and she agreed it was time. We watched her sedate him, then the rest. It's been 3 years and I still cry and miss him. I'm crying g as I write this. But I know he is happy and healthy now. I got a new puppy about half a year later and he was sent straight from my baby. They have so many of the same mannerisms and so much alike. ❤

It happened to me and my nephew too! A real Vet! She wasn’t sutured properly and it busted open. My nephew held her intestines in and I held her head and talked to her until we got to the hospital an hour and a half away. She made it and was with us for another year! and I’m not even sure how much money they paid it was thousands. Then she developed brain cancer. They tried everything chemotherapy everything!! In the end she went to heaven. Our dogs are our children and my heart hurts for his family !!

Death rate is super low/rare. I hope they resting in peace and sorry for your losses.. i wish y’all two the best! I never experienced any of the above but, the person before me who was coming out angry and I was coming in.. was furious saying “they killed my dog” I doubt they killed the dog but I knew very well an extremely small percentage that it can happen. I didn’t ask they guy questions and my dog and cat were perfectly more than fine! They had great rates. Hired the best vets ever and that’s it. No issues on my end. They healed like nothing happened.

I have seen several times in businesses like this offer a refund after gross negligence. Every time I have seen one it has included that the pet owner accepts the refund as full payment for any damages in waives their right to sue. Big businesses don't offer refunds unless it's going to save them $. .

I paid 5K for my cat to have surgery, and 2 weeks later she died of cancer. The vet that treated her had closed so I could not even sue. They had to know she was sick from blood tests that were taken before surgery. I am so disgusted with vet care these days! I am so sorry these people and their pet suffered!❤️
