I've posted this before on similar threads, but it's been awhile. Was actually out on a date with my girlfriend at the time--she was insecure, needy, often angry, and I'd just about had it. This date was to be the nail in the coffin. We went to the best restaurant in town. I guess my girlfriend thought that our waitress was prettier than her. I ordered the chicken breast tenders. When the waitress left, my girlfriend was furious. "What was that?" she snapped. "What was what?" "You ordered the chicken BREAST tenders." "I didn't say it like that. I didn't inflect the word 'breast.'" "Yes, you did," she said. "You think she's pretty, don't you?" "I didn't say BREAST. I said 'breast.'" "No, you said BREAST." I told her I couldn't do this anymore, got up, cancelled our order, and drove her home. It wasn't so much that she thought I was hitting on the waitress (even though I wasn't)--it was that she thought my wooing skills were so sub-par that I'd actually try to hit on a girl by inflecting the word "breast."

The experience of my own bipolar friend suggests "perfectly normal" may be overstating it. In his case, lithium stabilized his moods, but in a borderline-depressive condition. Meds can be incredibly helpful, but it is important to keep working on them with the doctor until the right mix and dose are found.

A couple months ago I went on a blind date with a girl I had met on a dating app. On the app she was nice and very attractive. When we got to the restaurant, we made small talk for a little while and got to kno each other. Then things got weird. She saying that if we want to date I need to match her a little more. Re: 8:19 I met a guy at a club I went to regularly. and we talked every week for a few months, during which he mentioned often that he liked cooking for people, and he's told he makes pretty good food. But he was most proud of his spaghetti, and people compliment him every time he makes it, and it took him a lot of practice to perfect the recipe. I go over there. He cooked an entire box of plain noodles in plain, unsalted water. As soon as the time on the box had passed, he dumped it into a strainer and rinsed the noodles off under cold water. He returned the noodles to the pot (which he had sitting on a pot holder on his table), opened a room temperature jar of spaghetti sauce, dumped it on top, then stirred until the noodles were tinted red. Filled a large bowl with the noodles, and handed it to me with a fork and a slice of plain white toast. It was disgusting 🤢 I really don't understand people that have such an inaccurate idea about their talent in a certain task, especially when that person has to eat or use what they cook or make as well.

I was the WTF. I was 18. This guy I really liked asked me out. On the date he asked if I wanted to smoke out and I said sure! I had tried weed maybe twice back then, all my friends were wake and bakers but I didn’t like it. But I figured what the hell Ill smoke with this guy. I tried to keep pace with him and got stoned out of my mind. I proceeded to talk non stop about very personal family stuff and couldn’t shut myself up even when he completely stopped chiming in and just kinda sat there like WTF. I was actually crying through some of it. He “had to be somewhere” maybe an hour into the date. The next day I tried to call him and explain that I didn’t smoke and that I’m not normally that crazy. He just said he was disappointed and I shouldn’t have done anything I wasn’t comfortable with, and things weren’t going to work out.

I would visit her at her home in a nearby city and a random man would be a "guest" too. One of them started a flirtation with my cousin's future sister in law, right there. Then she spent the rest of the night chatting it up with the dude I assume she sent the text to. We me and the girl have been friends since the 1st grade and this was the 3rd time I confessed feelings for her. I decided to just leave. wasn't worth a confrontation. Bartending friend said she got turned down cold at the end of the night by text guy. unsure if it was true or if she just said that to make me feel better. either way feeling defeated I went to the bar with my brother the next night. Found a girl that was going through the same thing I was but for the opposite side. Got turned down by a dude she liked because the dude got interested in another woman half way through the night. She was crying and pissed off. I told her I knew the feeling got to talking and became fast friends. a week later we dated, a week after that we where in a relationship. after being happy together for 3 months we are laying in bed one night and I get a text from date ditching girl asking in a simple Text. "Are you Still Single" I simple replied "No, I found a Wonderful woman who's in to sweet guys" never heard from her again. The woman I was dating at the time was jealous of the text. I said not to be, and deleted the text and the number from my phone. and we went to bed cuddling. We have now been together 9 years and have a son together. I really liked the other girl but I am very very very happy things didn't work out I met the love of my life, because of one of the worst dates of my life. Nothing like feeling like you had your foot in the door with a crush. that is until you get crushed and find true love right after. So to all the Guys and Gals I can honestly say don't get upset if things don't work out with a crush... The door may close but another will open and it just could be the best thing to ever happen in your life...

Went out on a date with a caucasian gentleman who seemed cool at first. We’d met as he’d seen my Facebook profile and thought I was cute. Oblivious to the fact that this is a red flag and a cue to block someone, I thought he was cute too and agreed to meet up for lunch. We were actually really vibing, talking about our beliefs, our values. And he expressed distaste for censorship, to which I agreed with, to an extent. Consenting adults should be allowed to view media that features other consenting adults, etc. I agree in people setting forth censorship standards for themselves, their business, their office. But not making a word outright illegal. Anyway, long story way too long, he just drops the N-Word, a deragatory term for Black people. I say the “N-Word” instead of the actual word, as I don’t even want that series of consonants and vowels passing though my mouth because of what it meant and what it still means. We’re essentially still SAYING the word by referring to it, but I think substituting it with something else takes the fire out of it. It’s hard to hurl at someone that way. Sort of putting it in check. I dunno. I say nothing, and he throws his head back and shouts, “N-WORD, N-WORD, N-WOOOOORD!!” It’s a sparsely seated pizza restaurant, so all heads turn directly to us, everyone disgusted, wondering what the hell is going on. I sank down in my seat. Clearly this dude lacked some boundaries and was maybe not the most stable person. I managed to feign illness as I was stupidly young, still afraid of standing up against such things, and scurried out. And that was that. Never saw the dude again. I’m sure he wasn’t inherently a bad guy necessarily, maybe just lacking in judgement…or he was just an obvious sociopath who’s perhaps already murdered countless people. THE ENNNNNNNNND

About ten years ago I went on a date with a woman I met on Plenty Of Fish, we went to Applebees, enjoyed some good food and what I thought was a good time, and all seemed to be well. Later on, we texted a bit, and she said she just didn't feel a connection because of "how I acted on our date." I asked what she meant, and she said that she didn't like that I opened the door but went in first, and didn't pull her chair out for her. Didn't hear from her again, until I got a text out of the blue saying she was stressed, and was wondering if I knew of anyone to buy drugs from around there.

I'm 82 and was recently remembering the immaturity of my contemporaries in high school and college and the early working years. Whew! We did some stupid things but my closest friends from college days have been married more than 50 years (except for two and one of those is dead and the other is circling the drain). Maybe some of us simply get lucky . . . or we learn more quickly?

A woman randomly walked up to me in a bar and asked me out on a date... Like literally 2 minutes later we were across the street at a restaurant having dinner together. As crazy fast as that happened it actually wasn't as bad as it sounds. She seemed nice, I'm pretty sure she was just hungry and didn't have any money and once I realized she had tattoos I knew it wasn't going to work out between us anyway. We parted ways on good terms, I was slightly shorted on cash since I paid for dinner but it could of been a lot worse. She could of intentionally run up the bill and waited till the last second to tell me I'm paying but no, she asked if I could pay before we went in and kept things relatively simple so as not to kill my wallet. Honestly if she just said she was hungry and didn't have any money I still would of bought her dinner with no expectations, she didn't even need to call it a date.

My nerves are constantly shooting pain signals to the brain. While logically I know most people don't have this issue I can't help how I feel.

Off her meds Bi Polar chick. I'm Bi Polar I've been off my meds not saying I was a load of fun but no way that wasn't more than Bi Polar that's above an beyond regular Bi Polar something else was wrong. She probably suffered from Schizoaffective disorder. People are normally diagnosed wrongly with Bi Polar first, it's dangerous to have a bad diagnosis and then probably put on the wrong meds because they won't work right. Always tell Doctors every detail just in case something you think is nothing. Get help don't be a danger to yourself or others. That guy probably need his own therapist after that cause you know damn.

I went to meet a girl I just started talking to on Tinder. She invited me over to ;) . I drive the 40 minutes to her house. Turns out she has a boyfriend she didn't mention, who is also there with us! They play music incredibly loud so we have to shout. They try to get me to drink like they are, and I'm uncomfortable enough I oblige, hoping it will help. She wants to make out and do it in front of her bf but I'm too uncomfortable with being watched like that. He seems chill though, and after a little talking, I try to give him a beej. I drank so much I instantly threw up on his lap instead. I ask to go to bathroom to be alone. Girl leads me to the bathroom and comes in with me, (and music is still loud), so having trouble calming down. I finally leave. She gets mad at me for leaving yells at me while I go. I'm driving home in the country in the dark semi-drunk still, and phone dies. I can't find way home without it, and realize I left my charger at their place. Gas stations are closed by now so I can't buy another or ask directions, I have to hope I find my way back. I do, she is surprised and still mad but throws my charger at me and I leave. This was just one of the reasons I don't meet people for the first time at their house anymore

Intro: actually makes sense. I have dated & been in relationships with men who were smart, but just not smart enough, and it is exhausting having to backtrack in every conversation to explain what you just said (twice). Also having to explain punchlines to jokes gets depressing very fast. They were great guys and I loved them to bits, but it was killing me to having to filter/dumb down each and every communication we ever had. Not sure if it was equally frustrating for them not to be able to 'keep up', but I imagine it would be.

A very smart person told me once (when I was guildtripping over getting annoyed with my boyfriend at the time): "Remember: if you are talking to someone who is 'mentally challenged' ( I do not know what the current PC-term is) with an IQ-score of 75 as an 'average person' (IQ 100), you have to "bring it down" to their level, that is an 25 IQ points gap you have to bridge. That is challenging! If your IQ is 125 and you are talking to a perfectly normal (100) person: That is the same IQ-gap! So, just as tiring/challenging. Not my story but my sisters. She went on a date with this guy who took her out to a nice casual and quiet resturaunt. She ordered her food but he didnt order anything. Since he paid for her food, she still ate but felt awkward because he didnt order anything. When she brought it up, he said something along the lines of him not wanting to support capitalism because its evil. And he started to go on and on about how much he hates capitalism in america. Sister is trying to be understanding and listens. When hes done with his rant, he opens the breifcase he had with him and takes out folders and starts telling her about Amway. A pyramid scheme. Probably the most capitalist scam ever. My sister thought this was a joke. He was serious. He only brought her on a date so he can pitch her Amway crap and complain about capitalism. She thanked him for the food and left.

I agree. When I was growing up in the early 00s online dating wasn't as prevalent. But even then I was a shy awkward nerd no guy would ever want to date. Plus, I'm not one for casual hook ups. A female friend of mine signed me up for Hinge, (I'm also female) and I've been lucky in a sense. Had maybe three or four dates which haven't gone anywhere, and I got stood up twice by a guy who was most likely a scam. However, I'm not keen on video calls myself, and I almost fell for a scam like that when a guy followed me on insta and tumblr. He claimed to be from California (I live outside of the US) and wanted me to video call him and beat him up because I do martial arts. I got red flags straight away and blocked him. He was most definitely some kind of scam. For one thing, I'm not going to video chat with a stranger when I'm at home after work and class at 3am lol. And I'm definitely not into whatever he was into. Texting works better for me, but I'm always nervous meeting strangers.

Went on a dinner date with an attractive blue haired woman. For most of the date, she seemed like one of the nicest people I’ve ever met, telling me how she loves cooking and cleaning for other people. When I brought up how kindhearted she is, she thanked me but then kind of looked down and said she had something important to tell me. Before she could, though, our waiter came by and asked if we needed anything. I mentioned that my steak could use a bit more pepper and the waiter quickly pulled out a pepper shaker and started sprinkling some on my food. The smell must have been too strong for my date because it made her let out the cutest little sneeze. Sneezing in public like that must have triggered something inside of her because her personality completely changed. She was no longer smiling. In fact, she looked confused and annoyed. Her voice was no longer sweet and mousy but, instead, had a more aggressive tone to it. Even her hair changed. She looked around screaming “Where the hell am I?!” before looking at me across the table and shouted “Who the hell are you?!” I asked her if this was some kind of sick joke. She then gritted her teeth and replied “Oh so you think I’m joking, do you? Well don’t forget… the PUNCHLINE!!!” before cracking me in the jaw with one of the hardest punches I’ve ever felt. I got back up to my feet and was about to ask why the hell did she do that but, before I could, this crazy bitch already had a machine gun in her hand pointed right at me. I quickly scramble out of that restaurant, dodging every bullet fired my way. Had it not been for my previous training from the Turtle Hermit, I’d have been a goner.

Mostly I've been ghosted but I have had some weird messages from guts randomly. Luckily I've never realised while on the date itself. I'm a shy boring nerd. But one guy literally said to me "I likely earm more than you, so I don't mind paying for dinner." Wtf. Luckily he ghosted me two days after that. And another guy I matched with on the start leaving me voice messages gushing that I was "really, really hot" and wanted me to meet him straight away to see a movie and "snuggle". For one thing guy, I'm not flipping Mila Kunis, calm the f down. Secondly I'm not a 6" model. I'm 5"2 and pudgey. He was way too desperate even for me.

So I hooked up with this friend of mine that I met they my brother. We had good time n we hooked up 2 more times... but the 3rd is where it got weird. After sex he went to hop in the shower n I was going to join him until he started singing snippets of love songs but all in his own vocal range that is a deep kind of lounge singer voice. I was so confused like "is he catching feels?" Cuz he had told me not to tell my brother or our mutual friends since this was his first time with a trans girl (having spent decades so deep in the closet about being trans that I didn't even realize I'm bisexual, I don't rush anyone to define to me or anyone how the feel about that stuff). But now I had to half ghost him for a few weeks until he moves 6 hrs away. He moves some time this week n it sux cuz I had fun with him but he's kinda pushy about sex even when watching something, often cuts me off to talk over me n then that singing felt like something from a horror movie. I just stalled until he was done in the shower, waited 2 mins n then hopped in to wash up quick before he came back :/
