C8 ZR1 is a hypercar. It's affordability in that market is the only reason it's being hated on as much as it is. Chevy will make as many as people order which is also a slap in the face to the traditional hypercar exclusive market of limited and lists.

A HyperCar should be super limited and exclusive. It’s not just horsepower. There have been cars with over 1000 hp for a while especially modified cars and none of those would be considered a hyper car. The new revuelto and temurario also have similar hp but not considered hypers even being Lamborghinis. The Zora could be conisered a hyper depending on exclusivity. The zr1 is not going to be limited in production and quite affordable for what it offers. Definitely a super-car+ but not quite a hyper in my opinion and I love corvettes and their performance/value proposition. I’m a proud owner of a 24 z06 and it’s the 4th z06 I’ve owned.

Corvette C8 is a performance car but not a supercar, I would argue that the Z06 and ZR1 are supercars, however they are not a hypercar. the weight is a major example of the difference, even with all the power. on top of that it has the looks of a sorta supercar and the interior has the feel of a standard sports car, especially when you look at the area around the seats, the design isn’t integrated like it is in a Lamborghini, McLaren, or Ferrari.

A hypercar usually means a car which costs more than 1 Million dollars, has more than 800 HP and is made of exotic materials like carbon fiber, titanium and other types of composites. Also, the main push is not always for top speed, but rather acceleration, handling and aerodynamics. Is the C8 ZR1 a hypercar? No, because it is definitely cheaper, it currently costs as much as most McLarens and Lamborghinis, and, like other Corvettes, it is focused mostly to go into a straight line like most other American fast cars, excluding the 2016+ Ford GT.
