I have now added a MAST query too to see if HST, Spitzer, Swift, JWST, etc has also imagined that area! I love the sense of discovery exploring around the image. Great video!!

Yeah it’s an amazing script. I love searching through my image, it was always so difficult now with this it’s so much easier and makes cross referencing a breeze as well.

This looks terrific, Paul. I often search for the identity of objects in my images so I can include a short write-up about them when I publish the images. I wasn't aware of this great tool and I think it will make it much easier and less time-consuming compared with doing manual searches. Thanks for the great information!

Thanks , we all photograph the same tourist objects but often wonder about the odd blob or tiny fuzzy we capture along the way , and sometimes although they are nothing visually they can be very interesting objects, but just to small or to far away to make an interesting photo. That's where the James Webb comes in .

I wish I’d been able to come up with a paragraph like that for the video. Thanks for the thoughtful comment.

I love finding obscure objects in my images - last month I was imaging the Elephant Trunk Nebula - and my meridian flip went stupid (while I was asleep) and ended up taking 80 90 second subs somewhere near it, so for the hell of it I processed those images and lo-and-behold, someone in my astro club pointed out this "nebula" in my image that turned out to be an obscure planetary nebula - we eventually figured out what it was - Minkowski 2-51 or PK 103+ 0.1. I'd upload an image but can't see a way to. ( Aussi living in Denver )

I like using this tool to identify more interesting areas in my RASA images (400mm FL) so I can then target them with my EDGE11 (2000mm FL). Since this tool is much simpler than alternative identification tools, it makes this process much easier. Cheers for the vid. I've watched SA's instructions and now yours. Each time someone makes a video on the same thing, I pick up something new, so thanks for your efforts!

That’s a great idea for usage.

I dig the new script. I do however not fully agree with the sentiment that annotating an image was hard. In PI, the AnnotateImage script let's you add catalogs to search like LDN, Barnard, Sharpless. Running the script just takes a few seconds.

Seti Astro is currently on fire with his Pixinsight scripts. I see you did not bother to fill in the date on the Image Solver, is it really not that sensitive to the date?
@PaulymanAstro4 ай бұрын
I think if you are too far out from the date you took the image it will produce a less than ideal solution or fail to solve completely. But I took the image about a year ago, I figured it would do a decent enough job for that time difference.

@@PaulymanAstro Understood, except the default date you had was January 1 2000. That is why I was surprised it was still so accurate.

Oh wow I missed that completely haha. Dumb luck then probably.
