🇨🇦❤️Thank you so much Dustin, for speaking about the people that sacrificed so much for our freedom. Most of them are gone now, but I feel so privileged to have been able to personally thank as many as I could, especially on Remembrance Day. I was born nine years after the war ended, so like most people of my generation, we knew families that fought in the war and lost loved ones. I hope that we can keep remembering and appreciate what we have thanks to them.

Firstly, this video is far beyond anything I could dream of producing. It's amazing quality. Secondly, the nerd in me wanted to offer my opinion. It appears to be a Stanton air raid shelter. These were ubiquitous on British WW2 airfields due to their modular design. The segments (aside from the brick entrances) could be carried by men and then quickly assembled and fit together. They liked to position them under trees too as it offered an extra level of camouflage. The reason this probably appears buried is because Stanton air raid shelters would often have earth piled up against them to offer even more protection from flying debris. The top entrance was an escape hatch should the main entrance become damaged or collapsed in. Fantastic video, thank you.

Appreciate your acknowledgment of what our Greatest Generation did for us. Thank you. I’m the 46 year old accident of parents who fought that war. They’re both gone but I am so glad for what they’ve taught me. Dad fought in The Pacific and my Godfather fought in Europe. Gramma was a Riveter. Bless em and bless you Sir! Lift that plate! If it was drainage i would have thought a grill of some kind as that hole could be blocked . A Rawlbolt could be used . Rawlbolts expand as you tighten them trapping the edges of the bolt in the hole ,then attach something to the top of the bolt and pull up . Love your videos very relaxing

The hill across from where I used to live in Cornwall was supposed to have been a decoy for RAF St. Mawgan/Trebelzue in WW2 and the tiny air raid shelter was a long way from the farm house. As kids we kind of dug it up and used it as our camp. I don’t know how the Germans were supposed to confuse a hill 5-6 miles inland for an airfield right on the cliffs.

@tavoramirez39793 жыл бұрын
I agree it is most likely for drainage given its location right at the bottom of the steps and in front of the bunker doorway. Also the fact that it is a bit off-set so it it does not set perfectly in the whole leads me to believe it is a drainage tunnel. But sure. Can't hurt to take a look see, right? Thanks for sharing. buy that 5 acre area. secure that with hard doors and locking grill top doors. that is a gem of a place. TELL NO ONE WHERE IT IS! Looks dry but use a sealing pait primer and critter free that site. if you do take someone there: build a path that goes away from it in several directions. throw grass seeds all over that paths. do all you can to confuse anyone else. bring in a locking tool storage box to store what you need long term.

A drainage access panel would make sense. It would have to be a trap to collect debris so that it wouldnt collect further down a pipe. So, if it isnt a drainage trap it probably is a small storage area.

I doubt drainage. That would be too small a hole to handle the amount of water, esp in a heavy rain, that stairwell would produce. You HAVE to go back, maybe with Mike, and check it out. Ammo storage? Food storage for a few soldiers who bunked there on patrol? Oh! How about cold storage? Instant fridge, should they catch a rabbit or two. Love watching your videos - esp to see what you're going to cook up. Could you maybe add a list of the spices you add every once and awhile? Stay safe, from Ohio (USA)

Nifty place to find for sure. Would dream of such findings - or a big cave! - as a kid but not many bunkers here in Canada LOL! My guess would be drainage with possibly a small cistern for collecting water for those hunkering down in the bunker for extended times. Guess you'll have to go back and open it up to find out. Looking forward to that video. Also first time my wife had seen a fire piston in action. Still want to get one of those. Cheers!

When I was growing up in South Wales during the 50ies and 60ies there were all sorts of structures - pill boxes and shelters many near railway lines! I guess we were ready for the invasion that , thankfully, never happened!
